In Texas, the driving force behind the incredible growth in
manufacturing jobs is oil and natural gas production.
1 Manufacturing in Texas represents nearly 16% of the Gross
State Product, one of the highest percentages in the country. (1)
2 Texas added more than 19,000 oil and gas jobs in 2013,
almost 6 times the number created in New Mexico, which
was 2nd highest on the list for this time period. (2)
3 Average wages for these oil and gas jobs was $108,000

jobs thanks to the automotive and chemicals industries. The state
already boasts a job number of more than 500,000.

1 One of main reasons Indiana is a popular place for the
manufacturing industry is the ease of doing business, thanks to
low tax policies & a highly skilled workforce.
2 More than 11% of all automobiles are made in Indiana, which is
home to more than 630 automotive companies. (1)
3 Some of the biggest employers in this state include Honda
(automotive) and Eli Lilly (chemical).

In Oregon, much of the manufacturing job
growth is being driven by the private sector,
notably in tech and telecom.
1 Oregon is an attractive place for business due to the benefit
of tax subsidies.
2 In 2013, Oregon produced the United State’s 10th highest
manufacturing output, totaling $65.37 billion. (1)
3 Two of the biggest manufacturing employers here, Boeing
and Intel, recently announced billion-dollar expansions.

manufacturing jobs in the state, with Chrysler, Ford
and GM all playing crucial roles.
1 Home to more than 370 vehicle-related Research &
Development and technical centers.
2 Ford announced they will invest $773 million in 6 southeast
Michigan plants over the next few years. Chrysler and GM
have similar plans of investment in the state. (1)
3 Michigan has led the nation in manufacturing employment

3 In 2013, Louisiana led the nation in the production of non-durable
