countries in Asia as well at the USA and Australia. They specialize in areas such as
marketing, entertainment, talent, investments and tech. It was founded in 2011
and has since grown to over 300 employees. As previously stated, Gushcloud has
many areas within the company of which I was assigned to brands/creative. This
area was called Summer International of which my mentors worked within.
Before starting the internship, myself and my other interns had a meeting where
we got to meet Gay Carr, who is in senior leadership, as well as the people who
would become our individual mentors. We also got to learn more about the
company and what they do to help us get a better understanding prior to
commencing our internships.

5. MY AREA/MY MENTOR
While I technically had two mentors for this internship, I ended up working
almost exclusively with Cara and not so much with Abu. I also worked with Alex
for one of the weeks when Cara was out sick of which I completed me EDM and
copyright tasks. Cara works within summer brands, and more specifically for a
company called HANJAN but also has had a lot of experience in different areas of
Gushcloud and within the marketing field in general. She had an experienced
point of view and provided me with a patient and understanding environment
while I learned how to execute the skills needed in this role. This is the company I
ended up doing most of my work for, helping Cara through tasks she delegated to
me. This brand has two products which the summer brands team was in charge of
marketing for which included an energy powder and a preventative hangover jelly.
This was an interesting insight into brand marketing and possible channels in
marketing agencies for my career in the coming years.

6. MY ROLE
I had the opportunity to talk to Cara a few times before properly starting my
internship to be able to get a better understanding on not only her, but her area
and what I will be working towards. She made sure to ask my interests and give
me tasks that benefitted me as well as interest me. After these one-on-one
meetings with Cara, it was decided that my role would consist of helping Cara
with their social media sector. This comprised mainly of Instagram and Tiktok,
helping her with organization, planning and ideas to boost social media
engagement and outreach. Some of my tasks involved going through Tiktok to
find and sort out HANJAN jelly videos, making EDM’s for reviews and feedback,
ideas for content/written skits as well as video references and competitor analysis's
etc. I did not have a set schedule for my internship as my mentor was busy with
internal work as well, but we would set up a task for the week and I would
connect with her for any further information. This worked for my own schedule
as well as I work multiple jobs and could work on my internship within my own
busy schedule.

8. MY EXPERIENCE
This internship provided a whole new experience for me. It allowed me to utilize
the skills I have learned throughout the last three years of my degree and give me
firsthand experience to some of the roles I will be undertaking once I have my
own career. I have valued all of my classes for the different areas they have taught
me about and the knowledge I have gained through all of the assessments and
work, but nothing prepares you for being in a real-life situation with an actual
company doing a job that has an outcome. I have taken away so much
information about not only this company and what it is doing but also what I
should expect when I get a job in a marketing agency next year. Even though I was
part of a virtual internship, I have become close with my peers that undertook this
internship with me and have gained another perspective of teamwork, one that
does not require that the team is working on the same task as you to be able to
communicate and help each other through.

9. STRENGTHS AND
WEAKNESSES
As this was a whole new experience for me and a place to be able to put my
degrees knowledge to use, it was easy to be able to find out which areas I found
more interest in but also which areas need work and are still an important role
despite it not being my first choice of tasks. The tasks I completed that I found I
was not only interested in but could perform to a high standard was the tasks
involving social media research and planning. My generation has grown up with
this form of communication so I have plenty of experience navigating and
research effective ideas and strategies. I also found that I struggled with the EDM
assignment. Emails are something that is focused on a lot in business and thus a
really important area that I need to get better at but I did find myself needing
more guidance in this area when asked to complete a task regarding this.

10. MY THOUGHTS
Much like my strengths and weaknesses, I found there to be some really
interesting areas of this internship which make me look forward to my future
career. It made me confront different areas that I have studied throughout the
years at university while finally being able to utilize it within a company. It has
also given me insight into areas that I find more interesting or less so but
understanding that it is an important balance. While I currently have another
internship here in Perth, this internship covered a completely different and new
set of skills that have given me a broader perspective of what it means to work
within the marketing field.
While having an exit interview with my mentor I was also able to gather more
information towards my career going froward and things I should consider when
entering the work force. She gave me great advice for finding my strengths as well
as what appeared to be my strengths throughout my time with her.

12. My first task for this internship
was to provide feedback and
recommendations for HANJAN’s
Instagram page. While they were
open to paid engagements, they
asked for me to focus on free
marketing strategies that could
help boost engagement and
reach.
The recommendations I put
forward would be helpful tactics
to grow their online presence
and also find a good direction
going forward as I found it a bit
random and scattered which I
am sure the audience shared with
me.

13. 13
This task consisted of creating electronic
direct mail (EDM) marketing content. They
needed a general idea of an email that
addressed asking for feedback (this slide) and
reviews (next slide). My mentor mentioned
that they had a creative team that would
handle the actual design, but they needed a
rough idea of a layout as well as design
references for the kind of approach I wanted.
15. Presentation title 15
For this task I was required to
go through all of the content
related to HANJAN on tiktok.
This included influencers of
their product and any other
random videos that they had
been tagged in. They were
looking for mainly Asian based
content but had a large
promotion from their
American consumers. This was
my first task in the internship
and allowed me to gain a better
understanding of the product I
would be working with
throughout the internship.
16. 16
This task consisted of reviewing a
HANJAN ad and providing
feedback on the positives and
negatives of this campaign. I was
also required to review the direct
competitors and their ads to see how
HANJAN compared.

Important considerations-
-Needs to display educational ideas
-Displays their core values “ wellness for your mind, body and soul”
-Inclusive content
-Female 25-35 is the highest gender demographic so content aimed
mostly at them
-US is most popular
-Educational things to mention : protects liver, high in B-complex
vitamins, anti inflammatory, boosts hydration, supports immune
system, supports heart health.
- Ingredients that attract interest
This task consisted of
finding and creating
content ideas for HANJAN.
Their social media was not
getting enough
engagement, so I had to
find ways to gain this while
still conveying the
educational message they
wanted throughout the
content. I also wrote out
skits for possible content
ideas and what it might
look like as well as why this
would be a good idea to
use. Here is some of the
content I used as ispiration
as well as the educational
and important
considerations when
writing my skit.
18. SUMMARY
Presentation title 18
This internship through Gushcloud has allowed me to utilize skills
that I have learned thus far in my degree but never had a real-world
chance to use. Cara was able to help and guide me through some of the
challenges of marketing firms but also show me how useful the
knowledge I’ve gained in university has been. The tasks I was involved
in has given me an understanding of not only what is expected of me as
a student at Curtin but also as a team member within a company. With
graduation coming up, this has given me the skills and confidence to
move forward into my adult career and practice the skills needed to be
successful in the field I wish to be in. I would like to say a big thank
you to Gushcloud and Gay Carr for this opportunity but also to my
mentor Cara and my unit coordinator Elaine Tay who offered me
direction and support throughout the whole experience.
