Corregidor Island (Cavite City, Cavite)
Because of its strategic location at the mouth of Manila Bay, Corregidor Island has
historically played a vital role in protecting Manila. It is one of the country's most
well-known historical and tourism destinations. Numerous tours are available, including
a ghost hunting trip, considering the island's history of numerous casualties, particularly
during World War 2. Corregidor Island is a museum in and of itself, including abandoned
artilleries and hospitals.
With its diverse flora and wildlife, early modern architecture, and unusual wartime
ephemera, it is a true-blue photographer's heaven, with lots of natural light and some of
the most beautiful views the nation has to offer. Corregidor Island, with its natural
beauty, is a photographer's dream come true.
Pagsanjan Falls (Pagsanjan & Cavinti, Laguna)
Shooting the Rapids, a canoe trip on this river, has been a popular attraction
since the Spanish era.
Locals call the waterfalls "shooting the rapids," while the indigenous name for
them is "Magdapio Falls." In 1976, the Pagsanjan Falls and its surroundings were
designated as a national park.
One of the reasons for its popularity is because it is frequently included in
Philippine history textbooks. Although it is really located in the town of Cavinti
rather than Pagsanjan, some claim that the name remained since Pagsanjan is
the most popular route to the falls.
Taal Volcano (Talisay & San Nicholas, Batangas)
Its enigmatic shape and placement on an island inside a lake within an island make it a
one-of-a-kind geologic wonder that attracts thousands of visitors and geologists each
year.
Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions
Because of its gorgeous qualities, it has become a must-visit destination for all travelers
throughout the world. The volcano can be seen from Tagaytay, one of the Philippines'
most popular tourist attractions. Everyone likes the city's postcard-perfect sight of the
volcano.
Gastronomy
Bulalo
The soup is a Luzon delicacy, and it is traditionally eaten during the winter
season.
Pichi-pichi
The mixture is cooked until it becomes firm and sticky, then wrapped in
desiccated coconut. During merienda, parties, and celebrations, the dessert is
very popular. Quezon Province is where this delicious, sticky dessert first
appeared.
Espasol
Before each cake is dusted with rice flour, the mixture becomes a soft, flexible
dough that is molded into long cylinders or triangles. Espasol is linked to the
Laguna region, where it is recognised as a regional specialty that can be
purchased at a variety of restaurants, stores, and street stalls.
Buko Pie
It's made using buko, which is fresh coconut flesh that's boiled with plain or
condensed milk, cream, and sugar until it becomes a thick, creamy custard.
Culture Traditions
Pahiyas Festival
The event, known as "Pahiyas," is founded in the townspeople's traditional
thanksgiving celebration following a great harvest. Leaf-shaped and multi-colored
rice paste wafers called "Kiping" are used to decorate the exterior of dwellings,
along with fruits and flowers from nature.
Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions
The origins of this tradition may be traced back to the 15th century, when farmers
used to donate their crops at Mount Banahaw's base. They began bringing their
agricultural products to the chapel in honor of St. Isidore the Laborer, the patron
saint of farmers, laborers, and peasants.
Coconut Festival
The Coconut Festival is a week-long festival held in San Pablo, Laguna,
Philippines, in honor of Saint Paul the Hermit, the town's patron saint. It takes
place every year in the first or second week of January.
Pinya Festival
Every 15th of May, the municipality of Calauan, Laguna celebrates the Pinya Festival.
The Calauan’s patron saint is St. Isidore Laborer, the patron of farmers.
And Pinya Festival started in the year of 1999.
Lechon Festival
Numerous activities are performed such as lechon parade, and water dousing.
Lechon is a popular dish in Batangas and other parts of the Philippines.
Most Batagueños serve it as a main dish during festivals or fiestas.
Higantes Festival
Based on Angono folklores, the ‘higante’ was used as a symbol of agrarian protest
during the waning years of the Spanish colonization when Angono was a hacienda and
(the large tract of lands).

Puerto Princesa Underground River (located in: Province of Palawan)
Palawan’s capital of Puerto Princesa is more than just a jump-off point to more exciting
parts within the island like Coron and El Nido. Puerto Princesa offers just as many great
spots and sights that will appeal to adventurers, foodies and cultural history buffs.
Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions
Puerto Princesa is home to disciplined but welcoming and warm people. Owing to the
people’s dedication in keeping their city clean, Puerto Princesa has been named not
only as the cleanest but greenest city in the Philippines.
One of the reasons why tourists flock to Puerto Princesa is to see the mysterious beauty
of the Underground River.
It is considered as one of the famous attractions not only in Puerto Princesa but in
Palawan. Upon entering the subterranean river, you are already greeted by spectacular
and towering limestone karst landscapes.
Coron (located in: Province of Palawan)
So come with me on a journey to 5he lovely island of Coron in Palawan.
Kayangan Lake, one of Coron’s most beautiful tourist attractions.
Kayangan lake
The lake is warm and inviting, perfect for those who want to swim. That’s why tourists
love Kayangan Lake.
Twin Lagoons
As you swim, you’ll pass through warm and cold spots that just add to the strangely
wonderful experience. Don’t miss Twin Lagoons because this is one of the best places
to visit in Coron.
Barracuda Lake
Coron, one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines, is best known for
world-class and the island also offers beautiful beaches, crystal-clear freshwater lakes,
and shallow-water coral reefs.
El nido ( located in: Province of Palawan )
Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions
At this moment, we will take you to El Nido so you can witness its beauty. Trust me,
after listening to this discussion, you’d want to visit this paradise over and over again.
El Nido is located at the most northern tip of Palawan Island. Together with Coron, El
Nido has become one of the most popular locations to visit in the Philippines.
It’s no wonder that El Nido has been ranked consistently as one of the best island
destinations not just in the Philippines, but in the world.
Elnido has also breathtaking tourist spots like Dip in the Secret Lagoon
This unique natural pool in El Nido's Miniloc Island is also known as the Hidden Lagoon.
This popular El Nido Big Lagoon has a sweet surprise that awaits you once you enter a
small opening on the majestic limestone cliffs.
When getting here, your boat will make its way to a small white sand beach in the
southern part of Miniloc Island. You'll pass through a hollow rocky cave-like opening so
be extra careful and dock your head. You can easily wade into the opening if it's low
tide.
Once inside, you'll be greeted by a small natural pool surrounded by remarkably high
limestone cliffs – this is the Secret Lagoon.
Also discover the Hidden beach
Similar to the Big Lagoon, you will need to board a kayak or swim from your boat to get
to this Hidden Beach. The pristine small stretch of white sand beach called the Hidden
Beach is usually a part of Matinloc Island Premium Private Tour.
Boats cannot fit in the entrance to go to the Hidden Beach. Since the distance from
where the boats dock and the beach itself is quite far; the best way to get inside is by
riding a kayak from your boat where you'll pass through towering karst cliffs.
You can choose to swim going to the beach, but I'm telling you, it will take time. At the
end of your kayak ride (or long swim), you will see a pristine beach with a stunning view
of another opening going to the open sea, framed by two walls of pointy limestone cliffs.
Truly a breathtaking view.
Gastronomy
Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions
People return to this dish since it is one of the greatest in Mimaropa. Begin in Adobong
pugita.
Adobong pugita
The octopus is marinated, drained, then placed into a pan with sautéed garlic and
onions. The dish is seasoned with salt and pepper and it's then traditionally served
warm with steamed rice on the side. The key to success is to cook the octopus quickly,
because it becomes rubbery and chewy if overcooked.
Ginataang puso ng saging
Other ingredients include onions, garlic, vinegar, salt, and pepper. The onions and garlic
are sautéed, and when they're soft, banana blossoms are added to the mix, followed by
vinegar, coconut milk, and chili peppers. The combination is simmered until the liquid is
reduced, and the dish is then seasoned and served warm, traditionally with steamed
rice on the side.
Miki
The province of Marinduque is noted to produce some of the best Miki noodles in the
Philippines.
Locals in Marinduque point out Ka Charing, also known as Rosario Pareño, an 83-year
old mother of three who operates a small Miki noodle-making factory in her home. Her
freshly-made Miki noodles are highly sought after by the cooks in Marinduque.
Manakla
No matter which recipe manakla is used, the results are always something that visitors
will order seconds for.
Culture and Traditions
Let me tell you a compelling reason why Mimaropa is so fantastic and why you should
consider visiting this magnificent island on your next vacation.
In Palawan there are many cultural groups as well: Cuyonon & Agutayon, considered
the ethnic elite of the province; Muslim groups such as Molbog, Jama Mapun and
Tausug live in the southern coast; Tagbanuas the largest indigenous group inhabiting

the central portion; And there are even smaller cultural communities like Pala’wan, Taut
batu, Batak, Ken-uy and Kalamian.
Aside from being the roots of our modern form of language, Marinduque is also home to
Moriones festival, an annual festival celebrated during the holy week. With this, the
province is popularly called “the Lenten Capital of the Philippines”. In the festival,
townspeople dress up as roman soldiers and other biblical figures to represent their
religion.
Moriones Festival
It is a colorful festival celebrated on the island of Marinduque in the Philippines. The
participants use morion masks to depict the Roman soldiers and Syrian mercenaries
within the story of the Passion of the Christ. The mask was named after the 16th and
17th century Morion helmet. The Moriones refers to the masked and costumed
penitents who march around the town for seven days searching for Longinus. Morions
roam the streets in town from Holy Monday to Easter Sunday scaring the kids, or
engaging in antics or surprises to draw attention.
This is a folk-religious festival that re-enacts the story of Saint Longinus, a Roman
centurion who was blind in one eye. The festival is characterized by colorful Roman
costumes, painted masks and helmets, and brightly colored tunics.
Baragatan Festival
The festival begins with a colorful float parade with floats created by various
municipalities and organizations around the province, representing local artistry,
customs and handicrafts. It culminates with an enthralling street dancing competition in
the grounds of the provincial Capitol building in Puerto Princesa. Each dance troupe
from all regions of the province prepare themselves with body paint and colourful,
flamboyant costumes, and create a performance that is a creative description of their
cultural and geographical identity through dance and music. And as always with
festivals in Palawan, the final icing on the cake is a beauty pageant to remind everyone
that the people are just as beautiful as the province is.
BILA BILA FESTIVAL
In order to promote the industry, the local government created the Bila-Bila Festival in
conjunction with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (the town’s patron saint) on
December 8. On the day of the celebration, children from various schools in the town
dress up in their best butterfly costumes for a parade that depicts the life cycle of the
butterfly. Brass bands, street dancing by costumed delegates, and colorful, decorated
floats also accompany the parade, with the image of the Immaculate Conception at the
end of the procession.
Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions
Do you love butterflies? If you are, then there is no wonder that you would crave to see
the unusual celebration by the people of Marinduque called Bila Bila Festival (Butterfly
Festival).
This festival is celebrated during the town fiesta (Dec.8) in Boac town, capital of
Marinduque. The event features the life cycle of butterflies since butterfly farming is the
town’s unique industry.

Bicol is also famed for its spicy food, which is based largely on coconut and chillies – as
evidenced in the likes of gulay na lada or Bicol Express (pork and local chillies cooked
in coconut cream). Other dishes not to miss are laing (taro leaves with meat or seafood
in coconut milk, spiced with chili, lemongrass and more) and local specialities featuring
local pili nuts.

Binurong Point (Catanduanes)
Binurong Point gets its name from the process of preserving food by salting and soaking
in vinegar or “buro”.
Locals call the place as such because they traditionally brought fish they caught to
preserve it here.
Binurong” is also a Bicol word meaning “Healed”. But now, thanks to social media, it’s
become a popular hiking destination in the province, with tourists of all ages trekking to
enjoy the view.
Binurong Point was coined from the term “Buro”/”Binuro”, or a process where fish are
dried under the sun and preserved with salt. This is where some of the fishermen in the
area do this process. Practically there are no trees around, but the grasses are as green
as they get.

original desserts. Let’s look back to the history of Sili ice cream. It was invented
by a restaurant called 1st Colonial Grill which is located in Legazpi City, Albay.
The restaurant owner thought of adding desserts to their menu. Instead of adding
the common desserts, they made their own ice-cream by using the ingredients
that were used in many Bicolano cuisine which are the Siling labuyo(chili
pepper) and Gata (coconut milk) Sili ice cream has different flavors and it has

  • 1. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions Regions IV-A Major Attractions Corregidor Island (Cavite City, Cavite) Because of its strategic location at the mouth of Manila Bay, Corregidor Island has historically played a vital role in protecting Manila. It is one of the country's most well-known historical and tourism destinations. Numerous tours are available, including a ghost hunting trip, considering the island's history of numerous casualties, particularly during World War 2. Corregidor Island is a museum in and of itself, including abandoned artilleries and hospitals. With its diverse flora and wildlife, early modern architecture, and unusual wartime ephemera, it is a true-blue photographer's heaven, with lots of natural light and some of the most beautiful views the nation has to offer. Corregidor Island, with its natural beauty, is a photographer's dream come true. Pagsanjan Falls (Pagsanjan & Cavinti, Laguna) Shooting the Rapids, a canoe trip on this river, has been a popular attraction since the Spanish era. Locals call the waterfalls "shooting the rapids," while the indigenous name for them is "Magdapio Falls." In 1976, the Pagsanjan Falls and its surroundings were designated as a national park. One of the reasons for its popularity is because it is frequently included in Philippine history textbooks. Although it is really located in the town of Cavinti rather than Pagsanjan, some claim that the name remained since Pagsanjan is the most popular route to the falls. Taal Volcano (Talisay & San Nicholas, Batangas) Its enigmatic shape and placement on an island inside a lake within an island make it a one-of-a-kind geologic wonder that attracts thousands of visitors and geologists each year.
  • 2. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions Because of its gorgeous qualities, it has become a must-visit destination for all travelers throughout the world. The volcano can be seen from Tagaytay, one of the Philippines' most popular tourist attractions. Everyone likes the city's postcard-perfect sight of the volcano. Gastronomy Bulalo The soup is a Luzon delicacy, and it is traditionally eaten during the winter season. Pichi-pichi The mixture is cooked until it becomes firm and sticky, then wrapped in desiccated coconut. During merienda, parties, and celebrations, the dessert is very popular. Quezon Province is where this delicious, sticky dessert first appeared. Espasol Before each cake is dusted with rice flour, the mixture becomes a soft, flexible dough that is molded into long cylinders or triangles. Espasol is linked to the Laguna region, where it is recognised as a regional specialty that can be purchased at a variety of restaurants, stores, and street stalls. Buko Pie It's made using buko, which is fresh coconut flesh that's boiled with plain or condensed milk, cream, and sugar until it becomes a thick, creamy custard. Culture Traditions Pahiyas Festival The event, known as "Pahiyas," is founded in the townspeople's traditional thanksgiving celebration following a great harvest. Leaf-shaped and multi-colored rice paste wafers called "Kiping" are used to decorate the exterior of dwellings, along with fruits and flowers from nature.
  • 3. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions The origins of this tradition may be traced back to the 15th century, when farmers used to donate their crops at Mount Banahaw's base. They began bringing their agricultural products to the chapel in honor of St. Isidore the Laborer, the patron saint of farmers, laborers, and peasants. Coconut Festival The Coconut Festival is a week-long festival held in San Pablo, Laguna, Philippines, in honor of Saint Paul the Hermit, the town's patron saint. It takes place every year in the first or second week of January. Pinya Festival Every 15th of May, the municipality of Calauan, Laguna celebrates the Pinya Festival. The Calauan’s patron saint is St. Isidore Laborer, the patron of farmers. And Pinya Festival started in the year of 1999. Lechon Festival Numerous activities are performed such as lechon parade, and water dousing. Lechon is a popular dish in Batangas and other parts of the Philippines. Most Batagueños serve it as a main dish during festivals or fiestas. Higantes Festival Based on Angono folklores, the ‘higante’ was used as a symbol of agrarian protest during the waning years of the Spanish colonization when Angono was a hacienda and (the large tract of lands). Regions IV-B Major Attractions Puerto Princesa Underground River (located in: Province of Palawan) Palawan’s capital of Puerto Princesa is more than just a jump-off point to more exciting parts within the island like Coron and El Nido. Puerto Princesa offers just as many great spots and sights that will appeal to adventurers, foodies and cultural history buffs.
  • 4. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions Puerto Princesa is home to disciplined but welcoming and warm people. Owing to the people’s dedication in keeping their city clean, Puerto Princesa has been named not only as the cleanest but greenest city in the Philippines. One of the reasons why tourists flock to Puerto Princesa is to see the mysterious beauty of the Underground River. It is considered as one of the famous attractions not only in Puerto Princesa but in Palawan. Upon entering the subterranean river, you are already greeted by spectacular and towering limestone karst landscapes. Coron (located in: Province of Palawan) So come with me on a journey to 5he lovely island of Coron in Palawan. Kayangan Lake, one of Coron’s most beautiful tourist attractions. Kayangan lake The lake is warm and inviting, perfect for those who want to swim. That’s why tourists love Kayangan Lake. Twin Lagoons As you swim, you’ll pass through warm and cold spots that just add to the strangely wonderful experience. Don’t miss Twin Lagoons because this is one of the best places to visit in Coron. Barracuda Lake Coron, one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines, is best known for world-class and the island also offers beautiful beaches, crystal-clear freshwater lakes, and shallow-water coral reefs. El nido ( located in: Province of Palawan )
  • 5. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions At this moment, we will take you to El Nido so you can witness its beauty. Trust me, after listening to this discussion, you’d want to visit this paradise over and over again. El Nido is located at the most northern tip of Palawan Island. Together with Coron, El Nido has become one of the most popular locations to visit in the Philippines. It’s no wonder that El Nido has been ranked consistently as one of the best island destinations not just in the Philippines, but in the world. Elnido has also breathtaking tourist spots like Dip in the Secret Lagoon This unique natural pool in El Nido's Miniloc Island is also known as the Hidden Lagoon. This popular El Nido Big Lagoon has a sweet surprise that awaits you once you enter a small opening on the majestic limestone cliffs. When getting here, your boat will make its way to a small white sand beach in the southern part of Miniloc Island. You'll pass through a hollow rocky cave-like opening so be extra careful and dock your head. You can easily wade into the opening if it's low tide. Once inside, you'll be greeted by a small natural pool surrounded by remarkably high limestone cliffs – this is the Secret Lagoon. Also discover the Hidden beach Similar to the Big Lagoon, you will need to board a kayak or swim from your boat to get to this Hidden Beach. The pristine small stretch of white sand beach called the Hidden Beach is usually a part of Matinloc Island Premium Private Tour. Boats cannot fit in the entrance to go to the Hidden Beach. Since the distance from where the boats dock and the beach itself is quite far; the best way to get inside is by riding a kayak from your boat where you'll pass through towering karst cliffs. You can choose to swim going to the beach, but I'm telling you, it will take time. At the end of your kayak ride (or long swim), you will see a pristine beach with a stunning view of another opening going to the open sea, framed by two walls of pointy limestone cliffs. Truly a breathtaking view. Gastronomy
  • 6. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions People return to this dish since it is one of the greatest in Mimaropa. Begin in Adobong pugita. Adobong pugita The octopus is marinated, drained, then placed into a pan with sautéed garlic and onions. The dish is seasoned with salt and pepper and it's then traditionally served warm with steamed rice on the side. The key to success is to cook the octopus quickly, because it becomes rubbery and chewy if overcooked. Ginataang puso ng saging Other ingredients include onions, garlic, vinegar, salt, and pepper. The onions and garlic are sautéed, and when they're soft, banana blossoms are added to the mix, followed by vinegar, coconut milk, and chili peppers. The combination is simmered until the liquid is reduced, and the dish is then seasoned and served warm, traditionally with steamed rice on the side. Miki The province of Marinduque is noted to produce some of the best Miki noodles in the Philippines. Locals in Marinduque point out Ka Charing, also known as Rosario Pareño, an 83-year old mother of three who operates a small Miki noodle-making factory in her home. Her freshly-made Miki noodles are highly sought after by the cooks in Marinduque. Manakla No matter which recipe manakla is used, the results are always something that visitors will order seconds for. Culture and Traditions Let me tell you a compelling reason why Mimaropa is so fantastic and why you should consider visiting this magnificent island on your next vacation. In Palawan there are many cultural groups as well: Cuyonon & Agutayon, considered the ethnic elite of the province; Muslim groups such as Molbog, Jama Mapun and Tausug live in the southern coast; Tagbanuas the largest indigenous group inhabiting
  • 7. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions the central portion; And there are even smaller cultural communities like Pala’wan, Taut batu, Batak, Ken-uy and Kalamian. Aside from being the roots of our modern form of language, Marinduque is also home to Moriones festival, an annual festival celebrated during the holy week. With this, the province is popularly called “the Lenten Capital of the Philippines”. In the festival, townspeople dress up as roman soldiers and other biblical figures to represent their religion. Moriones Festival It is a colorful festival celebrated on the island of Marinduque in the Philippines. The participants use morion masks to depict the Roman soldiers and Syrian mercenaries within the story of the Passion of the Christ. The mask was named after the 16th and 17th century Morion helmet. The Moriones refers to the masked and costumed penitents who march around the town for seven days searching for Longinus. Morions roam the streets in town from Holy Monday to Easter Sunday scaring the kids, or engaging in antics or surprises to draw attention. This is a folk-religious festival that re-enacts the story of Saint Longinus, a Roman centurion who was blind in one eye. The festival is characterized by colorful Roman costumes, painted masks and helmets, and brightly colored tunics. Baragatan Festival The festival begins with a colorful float parade with floats created by various municipalities and organizations around the province, representing local artistry, customs and handicrafts. It culminates with an enthralling street dancing competition in the grounds of the provincial Capitol building in Puerto Princesa. Each dance troupe from all regions of the province prepare themselves with body paint and colourful, flamboyant costumes, and create a performance that is a creative description of their cultural and geographical identity through dance and music. And as always with festivals in Palawan, the final icing on the cake is a beauty pageant to remind everyone that the people are just as beautiful as the province is. BILA BILA FESTIVAL In order to promote the industry, the local government created the Bila-Bila Festival in conjunction with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (the town’s patron saint) on December 8. On the day of the celebration, children from various schools in the town dress up in their best butterfly costumes for a parade that depicts the life cycle of the butterfly. Brass bands, street dancing by costumed delegates, and colorful, decorated floats also accompany the parade, with the image of the Immaculate Conception at the end of the procession.
  • 8. Major Attractions * Gastronomy *Culture and Traditions Do you love butterflies? If you are, then there is no wonder that you would crave to see the unusual celebration by the people of Marinduque called Bila Bila Festival (Butterfly Festival). This festival is celebrated during the town fiesta (Dec.8) in Boac town, capital of Marinduque. The event features the life cycle of butterflies since butterfly farming is the town’s unique industry. Regions V Bicol is also famed for its spicy food, which is based largely on coconut and chillies – as evidenced in the likes of gulay na lada or Bicol Express (pork and local chillies cooked in coconut cream). Other dishes not to miss are laing (taro leaves with meat or seafood in coconut milk, spiced with chili, lemongrass and more) and local specialities featuring local pili nuts. Major Attractions Cagsawa Ruins ( Albay) usually Mt. Mayon is covered with clouds and if lucky you can get a clear view of the volcanic mountain from the ruins. The volcanic eruption killed almost 1200 people who took refuge in the Cagsawa Church thus making it an even more visited place for its history and the local stories. Cagsawa Ruins also known as Kagaswa church. This church was destroyed by the Mayon Volcano eruption in 1814 thus making it Cagsawa Ruins. Cagsawa is situated approximately 8 kilometers away from the central business district of Legazpi. The best time to visit this place is when Mt. Mayon is in full view, photography enthusiasts will get incredible photographs of the ruins with the Mt. Mayon on the backdrop. The area is also a good place for souvenir shopping. Some shops are selling Orchids and other exotic flowers as well as handicrafts like shirts and handbags. The place is now called Cagsawa Park and it is now managed by the municipal government of Daraga, Albay. Caramoan Island (Camarines Sur) It is overflowing with popular tourist spots including caves, beaches, and waterfalls.
