14. Moriones Festival
Annually, a biblical
character in the person of
the Roman centurion,
Longinus, comes alive as
the towns of Boac,
Mogpog, and Gasan
celebrate the Moriones
Festival. It is a religious
festival, which links the
story of Longinus with
Christ’s Passion and
Death.

15. Feast of the Immaculate
Conception
The town fiesta of the
municipality of Boac falls
on the feast day of the
Immaculate Conception.
During this day, a religious
civic-military celebration is
observed throughout the
town, capped by an
evening procession in
honor of Our Lady of the

Approximately 187 nautical miles
(346 km) south of Manila, the
islands of Romblon lie on Sibuyan
Sea, south of Marinduque Island
and north of Panay Island. To the
east is the island of Masbate and in
the west, the island of Mindoro.

López de Legazpi, Spanish
conquistador Martin de Goiti
explored the western and northern
Visayan Islands including Romblon
Islands and Mindoro in late 1569.
When the Spanish left, they named
the island “Nagalumyom” which was
corrupted to “Lomlom” and later,
officially to “Donblon”. This is the
name mentioned and reported by
Miguel de Loarca in 1582, until it
finally morphed into its present name
Romblon to suit the Spaniards
pronunciation.

derived from Spanish word
which means “cock’s comb”, due
to its shape which resembles a
comb of a rooster. It is the sole
white sand beach which is
commonly an islet getaway for
Sibuyan locals, longing for a
secluded, white sand beach. It is
45 minute boatride from Sibuyan
island.

47. Saba Bay Lagoon
A 28 hectare body of water that
lies ensconed between Barangay
San Roque and Mabini providing
magnificent view of the serene
waters.

Populary know as Hambil to
the locals, exudes with
gorgeous coastlines and
turquoise beaches blissfully

is the last surviving
fortification form the

Municipality of El Nido
is a first class
municipality and
managed resource
protected area in the
province of Palawan in
the Philippines. It is
called the Best Beach
and Island destination
in the Philippines for
its "extraordinary
natural splendor and

67. Melville Lighthouse
Cape Melville Lighthouse is
a historic lighthouse located
in the island of Balabac, the
southernmost point of the
province of Palawan in the
Philippines. The first-order
light was constructed by the
Spaniards to light Balabac
Strait, the treacherous body
of water that separates the
Philippines from the
neighboring country of
Malaysia.

70. Light a Tree Festival
as the holiday season
draws closer, Mendoza
Park in Puerto Princesa
city begins its seasonal
transformation. Workers
set up decorations and
install a giant Christmas
tree. The official lighting
of the tree takes place
on the 1st of December,
after preparations are
complete.

71. Pagdiwata Ritual Festival
This event takes place during
December's full moon cycle
and features a number of
traditional rituals that
predate the coming of
Christianity. Religious dances
take place, during which time
the priest gets possessed by
local spirits.
