PROCEDURES
1. Verify you have all the materials you need for
the Gross Star-Grossing Station Hood
Assembly. They include: 1 sliding door
assembly; 2 side shields; 1 left hockey stick; 1
right hockey stick; (8) 8 MM x 20 screws; (6) ¾”
OD x .312 x 1/8” plastic washers; and (4) ¼ x 20
x 5/8 screws (Fig . 1).
2. Gather the tools you will need for the
installation. They include: 1 power drill; tape
measure; marker, Phillips head screwdriver;
center punch; and 3/16” Allen wrench. Refer to
and use the enclosed drawings before you begin
installation (Fig. 2).
Though not required for the installation,
we highly recommend having a cloth cover and
vacuum with a soft brush attachment to capture
and clean any metal shavings (Fig. 3).

B21113-09 – Side shield
1001432 – 8 MM x 20 screws
¾” OD x .312 ID x 1/8” plastic washers
PROCEDURES
1. Before you can begin the installation, you
need to remove the 8 screws and 6 washers
from the 2 inside corners (4 screws on each
side) of the canopy section of the Gross Star-
Grossing Station (Fig. 1).
2. To attach the side shields, start by sliding (6)
¾” OD plastic washers onto (6) 8 MM screws
(Fig. 2).
3. Position a side shield with its flat end on the
bottom and cutout end on top. Slide a screw
with washer through the center hole on the
side shield (Fig. 3).

1001432 – 8 MM x 20 screws
¾” OD x .312 ID x 1/8” plastic washers
PROCEDURES
1. Align the side shield screw and washer over
the second hole from the bottom. Tighten the
screw using a 3/16” Allen wrench. Add a screw
and washer to the top and bottom hole in the
side panel and tighten (Fig. 1).
2. Attach a second side shield to the opposite
side the same way (Fig. 2).
3. Position a hockey stick with its groove side
facing inward and insert (1) 8 MM screw
through the hole. The hockey sticks do not use
a washer (Fig. 3).

B21113-11 – Right hockey stick (with mounting bracket
attached) — right
1001432 – 8 MM x 20 screws
PROCEDURES
1. With the bearing slots facing inward, position the
angled end of the hockey stick into the cutout on
the side shield with its mounting brackets against
the backsplash. The hockey stick should be
perpendicular with the backsplash and parallel
with the canopy (Fig. 1).
2. Tighten the screw and attach the second front
hockey stick, with the bearing slots facing inside
the unit, the same way (Fig. 2).
The screws holding the mounting brackets
to the hockey sticks are purposely loose. This is
to help you position the brackets to use as a
template for the drill holes.
3. Press the mounting bracket so it seats flush with
the backsplash (Fig. 3).

B21113-11 – Right hockey stick (with mounting
bracket attached)
PROCEDURES
1. Trace around the inside edge of the mounting
bracket’s screw slots (Fig. 1).
2. Remove the hockey stick from the unit and
tighten the screws on its mounting bracket.
Repeat these same procedures for the
second hockey stick (Fig. 2).
3. Verifying the location of the mounting holes
will require a number of measurements. Start
by finding the center of each traced mark
(Fig. 3).

PROCEDURES
1. With the center marked, measure from the
base of the unit to the center marking. The
measurement should be 21 5/16” (Fig. 1).
2. Measure the distance between the centers of
the 2 markings. It should read 1¾” (Fig. 2).
3. Measure the distance from the inside edge of
the right-hand side canopy to the center of the
marks. It should measure 2 9/16” (Fig. 3).
Specific dimensions may vary slightly
due to the weldment construction.

Gross Star backsplash
PROCEDURES
1. Measure the distance between the centers of
the 2 hockey stick mounting bracket
markings. The measurement should read 50
11/16” (Fig. 1).
2. With the mounting hole measurements
marked and verified, use a center punch on
the marked areas (Fig. 2).
Before drilling, cover the base of the
Gross Star with a cloth to catch any metal
shavings.
3. Drill 4 pilot holes on each center punch mark
with a #39 drill bit (Fig. 3).

¼ x 20 x 5/8 screws
PROCEDURES
1. Widen the 4 holes with a #5 drill bit (Fig. 1).
2. Tap each hole using the ¼-20 tap (Fig. 2).
Once the 4 holes are tapped, carefully
remove the cloth from the base of the Gross
Star and, using a vacuum with a soft brush
attachment, remove any residual metal
shavings (Fig. 2).
3. Reinstall the 2 hockey sticks. To secure the
hockey sticks, align the slots in the mounting
brackets with the freshly tapped holes on the
backsplash. Using a Phillips screwdriver,
attach and securely tighten the (4) ¼ x 20 x
5/8 screws (Fig. 3).

PROCEDURES
1. Using 2 hands align the front roller bearings
attached to the sliding door assembly with the
notches in the hockey sticks (Fig. 1).
2. With the front bearings located in the hockey
sticks, lower the door assembly slightly and
push forward to slide it along the guide tracks
in the hockey sticks (Fig. 2).
3. Lower the second set of roller bearings into
the notch on each hockey stick (Fig. 3).

MATERIALS
B21113-03 – Sliding door assembly
PROCEDURES
1. Gently glide the door all the way in and rest it
in its open position (Fig. 1).
2. Verify the sliding door is operating smoothly by
sliding it open and closed a few times (Fig. 2
and Fig. 3).
3. After checking the door operation, verify that
all fasteners are tight. Once verified, remove
the protective paper from all the plastic parts
to complete the assembly.
