As a Production Specialist/Editor, I reported to the Information Engineering organization. Information Engineering is
responsible for developing and delivering technical documentation that assists customers in their use of hardware
and software products. The Production Specialist/Editor is part of the Information Engineering Infrastructure team
which is responsible for providing shared services to team members including documentation production/publishing,
editing, graphics, and tools.
I prepared technical documentation deliverables for publication to the internal and external websites, portals, print,
and other outlets and collaborated closely with cross functional project team leads to plan, analyze, organize, and
execute assigned projects. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential to ensure accuracy,
consistency, and ability to meet deadlines.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare documentation for publication. Review content output including HTML and PDF formats. Troubleshoot
issues.
- Collaborate with writers and project leads to ensure successful release and publication of documentation products.
- Interact with Program Managers, Product Managers, and Support Site personnel to ensure successful publishing of
documentation to the support site.
- Engage with vendors to prepare documentation for print purposes.
- Handle daily end-to-end documentation publishing including generation of part numbers, loading documentation in
to the Enterprise Content Management System, generation web pages, and verifying web pages with subject matter
experts.
- Generate documentation change orders as required.
- Develop and document production standards and procedures for the organization.
- Coordinate and plan work schedules to organize and track multiple ongoing projects.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Dreamweaver and WYSIWYG editor.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Content Management System.
- Conceptual understanding of taxonomy and metadata.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects/deliverables at any given time.
- Ability to work collaboratively with in a team environment of writers, editors, project leads, and other subject matter
experts to support deadlines.
