Telecom towers, technically known as BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) are the most energy intensive part of cellular network architecture and contribute up to 60 to 80% of total cellular power consumption and varies in response to the real traffic demand throughout the day and night. But, thelack of grid availability highlightsa potential barrier to telecom industry growth in Nepal. Nepal has approximately 5,222 telecom towers of which about 22% do operate on diesel generators (DGs) while the remaining by grid electricity with some shares of renewable energy technologies (RETs: solar and/or wind). Despite the large carbon imprint, the uncertainty in power availability has compelled telecom operators to use DGs to ensure continuous supply of power for the better network availability, which translates huge operating costs along with adverse environmental impact. So, it becomes an imperative solution for telecom operators to evaluate all alternatives in order to increase network reliability with reduced energy cost. This study report intentionally focus on current energy consumptionof such telecom towers and forecast thefuture energydemand with reference to growing subscriber trend up to 2025 using LEAP (Long Range Energy Alternative Planning System)withBusiness As Usual (BAU) scenario. A clean energy technology (CET) scenario with possible RET options is also developed and compared with base case scenario through some policy mechanics on behalf of environmental benefits and sustainable cellular communication. Furthermore, this study concludes a potential energy cum cost saving with RET adoption with basic cost economics analysis.

Telecom towers, technically known as BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) are the most energy intensive part of cellular network architecture and contribute up to 60 to 80% of total cellular power consumption and varies in response to the real traffic demand throughout the day and night. But, thelack of grid availability highlightsa potential barrier to telecom industry growth in Nepal. Nepal has approximately 5,222 telecom towers of which about 22% do operate on diesel generators (DGs) while the remaining by grid electricity with some shares of renewable energy technologies (RETs: solar and/or wind). Despite the large carbon imprint, the uncertainty in power availability has compelled telecom operators to use DGs to ensure continuous supply of power for the better network availability, which translates huge operating costs along with adverse environmental impact. So, it becomes an imperative solution for telecom operators to evaluate all alternatives in order to increase network reliability with reduced energy cost. This study report intentionally focus on current energy consumptionof such telecom towers and forecast thefuture energydemand with reference to growing subscriber trend up to 2025 using LEAP (Long Range Energy Alternative Planning System)withBusiness As Usual (BAU) scenario. A clean energy technology (CET) scenario with possible RET options is also developed and compared with base case scenario through some policy mechanics on behalf of environmental benefits and sustainable cellular communication. Furthermore, this study concludes a potential energy cum cost saving with RET adoption with basic cost economics analysis.

However, operators face challenges making this transition due to high upfront costs.

The single boost converter along with EMI input filter is proposed in this system to investigate the harmonic reduction in the DC motor drive. The present commercial photovoltaic solar cell (PV) converts solar energy into electricity with a relatively low efficiency less than 15%. More than 80% of the absorbed solar energy is dumped into the surroundings as heat after photovoltaic conversion. The electrical efficiency of photovoltaic system drops as its operating temperature rises and for this reason PV cooling is necessary. Therefore, stabilizing the temperature of photovoltaic modules at low level is highly desirable to improve the efficiency. Hybrid solar technology has the advantage of increasing the energy output per unit installed collector area. India as a tropical country is deemed to have a good potential of applying this technology. In this paper, solar PVT (Photovoltaic-Thermal) air and water collector hybrid systems were designed by using a poly crystalline silicon PV module as solar absorber and the comparative study was carried out. Air and water cooling of a commercial PV module configured as PVT air solar collector and PVT water solar collector by forced flow is studied. The energy and exergy performance of the PVT systems has been experimentally determined for various mass flow rates of fluids. The experimental result shows that the combined PVT system has got better performance than the simple PV and solar PVT water hybrid system has better efficiency than both. These systems are simple and suitable for building integration providing space heating depending on the season and for low temperature heating application.

the rectification process is 59.51% and 45.75% at 1.8 GHz and 2.5 GHz, which are high efficiency and much
better compared to literature respectively. The rectenna is capable to produce 1.8 V from an input power of
-20 dBm. Thus, the proposed RF energy harvesting system offers a promising solution designed for efficient
functionality at a low power level of RF energy in the dual band.

The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
