3. What is The Green King Game?
The Green King Game is a game that is designed to
engage Dutch people with recycling of electronic
devices in a playfull manner.
The winners of the game are the 3 schools and/or
associations that get the most 'green votes'.
4. How did it came about?
The day before Kingsday (the
day we celebrate the bir thday
of our King), children are
stimulated to exercise more
by joining the Kings Games.
We thought: “Why can’t we
make the Kings Games green
and raise more awareness for
recycling as well?” This was
the beginning of the Green
Kings Game.
5. Why this game?
With Kingsday it is allowed
for ever yone to sell stuff on
the street. At the end of the
day, a lot of stuff, which is
not sold, is lef t on the
streets. This way a lot of
electronic equipment (toys,
old radio's, etc.) end up
between the regular
garbage. There's a ver y big
chance that this equipment
is not recycled properly....
6. Target groups
1. Children: The communication style and tone of voice is
aimed at children at primary schools. This way we start with
environmental awareness at a very young age.
2. Parents: Parents are interested in the things their children do.
Via the children, we make sure that parents are aware of the
campaign and of the possibilities of recycling of WEEE.
3. Management of schools and associations: These are the
catalysts for the campaign and make sure this campaign is
on the activity list of the school or association.
7. How do you play the game?
Recycle Vote Win!
For every electronic device
that is recycled via the
municipal e-waste location,
he/she recieves a 'Green vote'
card with a unique code.
With this unique code he/she
can vote on their favorite
school or association.
The 3 schools and/or
associations that recieve te
most votes, win 2.500 EURO.
