A GREEN CAUSE AND A SOCIAL CAUSE!
Infant Jesus Jogeshwari students show the
way:
The teachers and students of Infant Jesus High School, Jogeshwari-East
have taken up a number of eco-friendly projects in the past to show
their love and concern for the Mother Earth.
One more such project taken up by our school is to make DIWALI 2016,
a GREEN DIWALI. Students and parents are appealed to abstain from
BURSTING CRACKERS, and are motivated to contribute the money saved
from the fireworks for a noble cause of helping the poor students.
In fact, last year, during the 2015 GREEN DIWALI CAMPAIGN an amount
of more than 1 lac was contributed by students of KG, Primary and
Secondary sections – the money saved by celebrating GREEN DIWALI!
This money has been used to give fee concessions to the poor and needy
students during this academic year.
Last year, as a gesture of appreciation, the classes which contributed
highest were felicitated with Rotating Trophy. The Primary section
students were awarded their Rotating Trophy during the Primary annual
day celebrations on Oct. 31st
, and the secondary section students were
awarded their Trophy during the Secondary section Annual Day which
was celebrated on last Saturday, 7th
November.
This year, once again, the GREEN DIWALI CAMPAIGN project is taken up
by INFANT JESUS HIGH SCHOOL, JOGESHWARI-EAST.
A few resources used by our school are available below.
HAPPY GREEN DIWALI TO ALL!!

AN ECOFRIENDLY DIWALI - A letter to Mummy and Daddy
Dear Mummy and Daddy,
I am very happy that the Diwali is fast approaching. Diwali is called a festival of lights. Darkness represents ignorance,
and lightsymbolizes knowledge. Therefore, lighting a lamp means the destruction, through knowledge, of all negative
forces - wickedness, violence, lust, anger, envy, greed, bigotry, fear, injustice, oppression and suffering etc. Hence
Diwali celebration comes with the hope ofbringing light(knowledge) in a world of full of darkness (evil). However, dear
Mom and Dad, I want to express my deep sorrow on the way this festival of light is being celebrated. I ask you a few
questions for your thought:
DO YOU KNOW?
 During the Diwali season we are forced to breathe poisonous air affecting our health?
 Sick, elderly and the homebound suffer terribly, while we enjoy bursting crackers?
 Little babies mustbe crying and crying withoutable to say anything abouttheir pain?
 How much the animals and birds suffer due the harsh and loud noise ofcrackers?
 The heaps of garbage left behind makes our beloved country ‘dirty’ instead of ‘Swachh’ Bharat?
 The garbage dumped in the dumping grounds carries poisonous water to the rivers?
 Hundreds ofcrores are spenton crackers, thattoo to create avoidable pollution?
 By bursting crackers we supportchild labour as these fireworks are made by little kids like me?
Therefore, my dear Mom and Dad, I want to celebrate this year Diwali in an environmental friendly way. I am sure you
will cooperate with me. I promise you whatever money you give me to buy crackers, I will use it for a good and noble
cause.
Wishing you a Happy and Green Diwali!
Lots of kisses,
Your loving child.
