2. • The person who invented or
thought of the Olympics was called
Hercules but many people believe
that a person called Pelops could
also have invented the Olympics
this is known because of two
different Greek myths. We know
that the Olympics were made in
Greece as well.

3. • The Olympics are a series of events
held in a country. Other countries
athletes come to that country and
take part in the games and try to
win at different sports for medals.
First=Gold Second=Silver and
Third=Bronze. Once all the games
have been completed the country
with the most gold silver and
bronze wins the prize of pride and
glory! This year they are being held
in London England.
4. The first Olympic games took place in
776bc according to the records and
were held in honour of Zues king of
all of the gods. In the first Olympics
there were not many events but
there was a: foot race , pentathlon ,
long jump wrestling , equestrian ,
boxing and pankration.

5. • The first Olympic games took place
in Greece in the city called
“Olympia” (likely to be why there
called the Olympics)and were
staged there every four years. Only
men could actually watch the
Olympics but who would want to
watch a load of naked athletes
showing their talents.

6. • The games were part of a religious
festival and also they were held in
honour of Zues. They also made a
statue of Zues in a temple near by
to where the Olympics took place it
was 42 feet tall and is one of the
seven wonders of the ancient
world. Some people believe that it
was held just for fun.

7. • The winners prize was a… branch
of wild olives!
• It took a few years to add new
events into the games.
• The first winner was a chef!
• Women couldn't watch the games
because of there own festivals.
• They were part of a four different
series of games one every year.
