Abstract:
CFD studies - Computational Fluid Dynamics/Computational fluid mechanics have
been experiencing great development on the last few years due to technologic
innovations. However, still being a recent tool, does not completely replace
experimental studies. On the last few years, in order to validate computational analysis,
multiple phenomena have been studied numerically and compared against experimental
data. With the development of computers and, hence, its low cost, CFD analyses are
nowadays quicker and faster that experimental scale models. This work aims to obtain,
from a CFD model, hydrodynamic loads generated by sea currents on a FPSO platform
converted from a SuezMax oil tanker. Results will be compared with experimental data.
Both models will be of same scale ratio to avoid any differences due to scale effects.
