This document outlines the curriculum map for fifth grade English Language Arts in Georgia. It is divided into four quarters or nine weeks periods. In each period, students will focus on either literary or informational texts in reading and writing. They will read extended texts and short connected texts. In writing, students will focus on opinion, informative/explanatory, or narrative pieces. Foundational reading skills and language standards will also be covered each period. Speaking and listening standards involve discussions, presentations, and understanding.
