Project Information :
Project Title : CLAIMS-RDS,
Client : CIGNA
Team Size : 6
Duration : Oct 2014 – Till Date.
Role : Software Engineer.
Environment : Informatica Power Center 9.1, Oracle.
Description:
The Claim RDS a single point of source for Cigna medical claims and intent to provide data
consistently to various consumers such as Cigna Corporate Warehouse (CCW) is a new enterprise
data warehouse platform with a vision to provide clean, reliable, timely data for services, reporting
and analytics to its consumers. This application comprises of set of technologies primarily databases
and ETL tool.
The Claim RDS is a new enterprise data component with a vision to store and distribute the
data from original sources to internal consumers in a timely, efficient manner with fewer impacts to
the original sources, The strategic medical claim data that is the focus of this project will be provided
by the Benefit Configuration & Adjudication (BCA) ASG gathered from its medical claim engines
such as PMHS, PCLM ,FCTS, BCA will collect and house the gathered claim data in a Read-only
Data Store (RDS).
The Claim RDS Process extracts the delta/history loads from source (PMHS,
PCLM, and FCTS) databases and process the data in a multi layered approach before the data gets
loaded into final RDS Masters. The application utilizes the ETL Informatica tool to extract, transform
and load delta/historical records. The RDS ETL process follows standard “Pull” approach, and the
data will be processed in batch manner with a three layered approach as described below.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Mainly involved in ETL developing. That is in the creation of ETL Mappings and
transformations to reflect business rules using Informatica Power Centre to move data
from multiple sources into target area, source systems are mainly delimited flat files, and
relational tables.
• Developed Quick fix mappings in Informatica to load the data from various sources into
the Data Warehouse, using different transformations like Joiner, Aggregator, Update
Strategy, Rank, Router, Lookup, Sequence Generator, Filter, Sorter, Source Qualifier to
resolve the issues raised during the production run.
• Worked on Informatica –Source Analyzer, Warehouse Designer, Mapping Designer,
Transformations and used most of the transformations.
• Tuned sources, targets, mappings and sessions to improve the performance.
• Used Shortcuts to reuse objects across folders to reduce the Rework.
• Worked on Job failure as well as Data Issues and resolve the issues within the SLA.
• Monitoring the workflows and on failure fixing the errors and rescheduling the job.
• Documentation of each process ( Preparing Low level Design document, Technical Spec,
Test Case document, Process document for all existing workflows)
• Created the Application Design Documents based on the Functional Requirement
Document.
• Performed Unit Testing.
