Pioneer is the largest and most complex IT enabled change that programme Q will deliver; it will involve
collaboration from across the business and will impact 25,000.
Partners and has a high dependency on IT.The Pioneer project will implement an enterprise Supply Chain stock
management system that will enable us to have one view of our stock across the division.
Data Conversion:
The Consortium’s data conversion and migration approach is designed to ensure that the Oracle Retail modules
being implemented have the desired data for business operations. The success of the data migration and
conversion work stream is dependent on understanding the flow of business information requirements to inform
what data needs to be migrated.
The scope of data migration would broadly include the following.
• Identify all affected business functions, corresponding legacy applications and data source
• Understand and agree with relevant stakeholders on the data requirement of each application/module
• Coverage for all required master and transactional data
• Required manual conversion procedures and automatic programme
• Populate the target application(s) with migrated data that meets the project/phase timelines.
Data Integration:
As part of the Pioneer Programme, John Lewis is implementing several Oracle Retail Applications (ORA). Of these
Oracle Retail applications, RMS is being implemented to maintain supplier cost, across John Lewis branches and
online businesses. One of the requirements is to allow the RMS to send all the Supplier Cost Changes for a given
Item supplier to Product Hub. For Phase 1, only active supplier will be send to product HUB. As part of the interface
the ‘Recalc Order’ indicator is sent which informs Product Hub if any open Purchase Orders needs to be
recalculated. This document describes the process of updating the Supplier related legacy product hub tables from
the Oracle Retail side. Ab Initio ETL tool extracts the data from the RMS stage table, processes and ftp GDG file to
the mainframe. Then the data from GDG file will be extracted and loaded to Supplier related legacy product hub
tables.
