Kelly Faulkner teaches at Napier Boys' High School and uses Google Docs to facilitate collaborative learning among students. She has students share and work on writing pieces, speeches, film excerpts, presentations and final projects together using Google Drive. This allows for articulated learning as students create meaning together. While using Google Docs can sometimes provide more than students bargained for and push them to do better, it also helps students communicate about what they need to learn. Overall, Kelly finds that Google Docs in the classroom leads to more communication, many more collaborative projects, improved relationships between students, and a significantly better understanding of content in students' own words.
