Using social media to support learning in higher educationSue Beckingham
My keynote presentation considers how social media and digital technologies can be utilised effectively to enhance both informal and formal learning. Drawing upon the 5C Framework (Nerantzi and Beckingham 2014) I will share examples of how social media is used to connect, communicate, curate, collaborate and create; and through a student-staff partnership called ‘SMASH’ (Social Media for Academic Studies at Hallam) how with my students we have explored how social media can be used for ‘learning activities’ within and beyond the classroom, to ‘organise learning’ using relevant social media tools to curate and organise information, and the importance of ‘showcasing learning’ to enable students to openly share outcomes and projects.

Social networking involves individuals and organizations connected through relationships like friendships, financial exchanges, shared interests, and beliefs. It can be an effective form of entertainment and business development by connecting people with similar interests. Research shows companies that utilize social networks more innovatively score higher on measures of radical innovation. Schools are also increasingly using social networks to enhance education and connect students beyond the classroom, but need to consider how to manage student access and address issues like cyberbullying. Government agencies and other organizations have also created social networking presences to promote services, recruit employees, and collaborate with online communities. Careers in public relations often involve using social media to help businesses and organizations promote themselves and maintain positive public perceptions.

The document discusses how social media and social software can enhance digitally-mediated adult education. It notes that social software allows for cooperative and collaborative learning across distances by supporting interactive methods and multimedia. Social software empowers designers to better accommodate adult learning principles like self-directed learning, collaboration, and problem-based learning. Features of social media like social networking sites provide tools that can facilitate rich interaction, collaboration, and multiple learning opportunities among online students. When incorporated effectively into instructional design, social software aligns well with principles of adult education by supporting learner autonomy, relationships, informal/lifelong learning, and experience-based learning.
This document summarizes a presentation on exploring corporate social responsibility (CSR) as it relates to adult learning and education. It discusses definitions of CSR, perspectives on CSR, examples of mining company CSR programs involving adult education in communities, key findings on the role of adult education in CSR strategies and agendas, and critical issues in researching this topic. The presentation concludes that the field of CSR is ripe for educational researchers to study further.
Jay Rosen, an NYU journalism professor, argued in 2006 that the traditional distinction between media producers and consumers is outdated, and that audiences should now be viewed as active participants in the information ecosystem. Rosen proposed that audiences be redefined as "the people formerly known as the audience" to reflect their growing role in content creation and distribution online.
This document discusses the importance of developing a mobile strategy for business schools. It notes that today's students are highly connected via mobile devices. It then provides a 10 step blueprint for a successful business school mobile strategy, including defining target audiences, deciding on a mobile website or app, creating tailored entry points, making apps easy to use and valuable, including calls to action, leveraging location, photos and social media, measuring impact, and integrating mobile into an overall digital strategy.

INTRODUCTION
Today we cannot go about our everyday lives without encountering some form of social media.
The popularity of social media has grown as a result of the rapid changes in technology as
computers are now more mobile and can be used virtually anywhere. Companies are increasingly
using social media as a new way to reach customers more effectively and to spread news of their
activities more rapidly. The ubiquitous use of social media has also brought new challenges to
M illennial generation has to
Facebook and other social media applications like Twitter and Instagram.
In this research project, we examined increasing social media use and its intersection with
workplace activities, with a particular focus on the M illennial generation. The use of email and
the internet have become more commonplace in organizations and many have enacted policies
regarding their use/misuse at work. The use of social media during work hours, particularly
when accessed via a personal cell phone, brings a new set of challenges to employers.
There are advantages to be gained by using social media for both prospective employees as
well as employers. For example, new college graduates searching for work increasingly use sites
such as LinkedIn to find potential employers, employers are utilizing social media to open their
hiring pool to new applicants in new regions. One of the benefits of LinkedIn is the improved
ability to find jobs anywhere in the country and in the world. On the downside, it makes the
application process more competitive and adds new hurdles to the hiring process.

It's Not All About Facebook: Defining Your Own Private CommunityGene Begin
Facebook has been the go-to platform for institutions to connect with prospective students. Let's not kid ourselves, though; HigherEd is full of control freaks. And Facebook is out of our control. Via a coordinated content strategy across Facebook and other social platforms, there is room for a college-owned, private social network within your digital strategy. With the ability to more closely control the experience, you can better align with institutional brand, more directly tie to programmatic, business unit goals and more intimately understand your users' personal interests. But a private social network should not stand on its own. This presentation will showcase the success of past private social networks and focus on the challenges and opportunities seen within a private social network for applicants created at Babson College. As result, you will walk away with the motivation to coordinate a digital marketing strategy across multiple social platforms with intentional, distinct goals and purpose for each platform.
Employer Branding and Social Media as an Attractive Job Seeker To e-Commerce ...AJHSSR Journal
This document summarizes a research paper that examined the relationship between employer branding, social media, and Generation Z's interest in applying for jobs at e-commerce companies in Bekasi City, Indonesia. The study found that employer branding values like interest, economics, application, management, and work-life balance attracted job applications, but social and development values did not. It also found that both employer branding and social media positively impacted Generation Z's interest in applying for jobs. The research used a survey of 164 Generation Z respondents and structural equation modeling to analyze the relationships between the variables.

positioning of HR to create value by sumit mukherjeesumit mukherjee
1) Actual company values are shown through who gets rewarded, promoted, or let go, not nice-sounding value statements.
2) Large companies value behaviors like good judgment, communication, impact, curiosity, and innovation in colleagues.
3) As companies grow, they tend to curtail employee freedom and become more bureaucratic to manage complexity, which drives out talented employees and hinders adaptability.
