Catherine Rathell was a milliner born in 1744 in Virginia. As a milliner, she made and sold clothes, shoes, jewelry and other fashionable goods out of her store. She had a husband but did not change her last name, and had one enslaved person who she cared for. Catherine was friends with other middling residents of Virginia, including John Greenhow, Jane Hunter, Clementina, Margaret Brodie and James Geddy. She was a loyalist during the Revolutionary War as she did not want her store to be harmed if a war came to Virginia.

The work that Catherine Rathell did was a milliner so she makes things
like clothes, shoes, jewelry, and goods. The thing that Catherine sell was
mostly shoes, clothes, fashionable goods, and shiny things.

children was unknown she had one enslaved but always took care of
her or him. the interesting gossip was that she has one enslaved
person but she never hurted him or her.

they are all middling people. they been friends for so long and also
some work in the store with her. But Margaret Brodie was born the
same place and the rest they all have good relationships.

when i was reading the notes that talks about her and she did not want
to go to war because she did not wanted her store to get distorted.
