The Municipality of Nagypáli in Hungary implemented a photovoltaic village lighting system to reduce costs and environmental impact of the public lighting system. The objectives were to beautify the village center using attractive, renewable energy-powered lighting and pavements. The project received funding from the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. It reduced operational costs for lighting while increasing tourism by making Nagypáli an eco-tourism destination where visitors can learn about renewable energy developments.

2. BACKGROUND
The village has a giant experience in the field of renewable energies. Nagypáli would like to
show people how to save energies around themselves. The village has a simple village
lighting system, which is expensive for the municipality. They found a technique how to solve
the problem with renewable energy.
OBJECTIVES
Nagypáli is a dynamically improving settlement in our days. The village's embellishment,
contributes to the correction of the inhabitants' general condition. Our settlement lays a big
emphasis, onto the direction of his public domains, his development. Additional vegetation is
the forming of his setup, space lighting is the village centre's aesthetic appearance, in the
interest of the forming of the more attractive settlement picture is justified. The car park
which can be found in the centre is currently gritty, concerned with asphalt provided, the
making of pavement justified, the present state his aesthetic appearance, neither though his
function (due to rainfall soaked soil) does not meet the claims of the age. Nagypáli was one of
the target of the öko-tourism lately , because of this the ordered village picture our parish
from the viewpoint of visitors justified.
PROCESS
Our aim is, that our settlement into a direction like that let us develop it where the
people_nation feel well assured, where the natural environment, the public domain are
cultured and clear one, which gives a framework, the healthy one and to the creation of a
peaceful life, onto the conservation of the face of the settlement, onto continuing to improve
him.
With the application of the renewable energies the expenses of the space lighting not only the
environmental load, but reduces the operational costs. The travel, economic attractiveness of
the settlement increases due to the attractive settlement centre's forming. Nagypáli was the
target of the öko-tourism during the latter years (Ökocentrum construction). Several groups
visit into the parish in the framework of a vocational field trip in order to be allowed to
recognise the renewable energy developments.
