A group show by 9 artists from Kochi, Bangalore & Chennai.
March 14 - March 20
Durbar Hall Art Gallery, Kochi, Kerala
Looking at the art scenario of Kerala, especially an important art space like Kochi the very frequent art exhibitions happening here put forward a clear picture of the vitality of contemporary art and its inclinations.
The artists from Kerala have a significant role in moulding the history of art in India since the very beginning of Indian modern art and even during the post-modern time. The written history of Indian modern art and later periods mainly talks about urban centric and auction-centric artists and their artworks. And only after exploring the space outside the regional centres of Kerala a few artists were recognised in the Pan-Indian art scenario. In this situation, there are artists whoever explore local spaces inside Kerala are marginalised from mainstream art history discourses.
Here the art show named ‘Tvam’ meaning ‘You’ in Sanskrit coming forward with a group of artists work in regional spaces like Bangalore and Kochi. This is a good trend that artist forms a group irrespective of their regional centres of art. Since the so-called art market boom in India artists were moulded to become an island of his or her self-being and were promoted to work inside a shell of ‘I’. At this point, the art show named ‘You’ by a group of young artists with a unique perspective of thoughts give a ray of hope in the contemporary art scenario.

A TIME TO
CELEBRATE.
It’s not often you see an
event that spans such a
broad demographic yet still
manages to completely
stoke everyone out....
With a strong intention to
bring prolonged business
and tourism activity into the
local community from
outside the region- Golden
Days has set about creating
an all ages family friendly
event which incapsulates
everything the beautiful area
of Coolum has to offer .
The formula seems to be
working BIG TIME with
ticket sales coming from all
regions of Australia as well
as countries such as
Canada, USA , Austria and
NZ.
GDF’S intense 2011
marketing campaign which
created huge interest from
outside the Sunshine Coast
region will be stepped up
even more this year to
really focus on pulling the
outside tourism dollar into
the Sunny Coast.
By turning GDF’S into a two
day event and making the
second day completely free
to the public - GDF has
encouraged festival goers
to make a weekend of it
thus driving up record
profits for local shop
owners on the Sunday.
GDF made a conscious
decision not to sell any food
or alcohol on the Sunday
so as to boost profits for the
local businesses.
