Accommodation Ratings
To assist with the selection of your accommodation we have created our own rating system allowing you to compare each property. These are personal ratings
offered by our people from their own experience and should therefore be used as a guide only. These ratings may alter throughout the year due to a change of
circumstances.
Moderate accommodation with a reasonable range of rooms and facilities, with rooms furnished to a comfortable standard.
Superior standard of accommodation with a wide range of rooms and facilities, and a higher standard of service.
First Class accommodation with an excellent range of facilities and services. Accommodation in this rating is considered among the best in
the country.
A half star is noted when the level of service and facilities falls between two grades. Grading accommodation can be quite subjective and generally speaking the
standard and services will be in line with the price paid. Please check with your Travel consultant to ensure you get the accommodation to best suit your needs.
Child Policy: Please note bedding configuration varies between properties and in some cases with different room types within a property. Some hotels also offer
family bonuses and specials. Your Travel consultant will help you choose the hotel to best suits you and your family’s needs.
Price Indicator: The price is provided as a guide only. The actual price may differ to that indicated in this brochure due to currency fluctuations, special events,
trade shows or peak periods. Your travel specialist will quote you the actual price at the time of booking. Per person pricing is based in New Zealand dollars.
Look out for our “gems” of information scattered throughout our Sydney & Melbourne brochure.

Sydney markets offer a broad range
of goods, from fresh produce to
vintage clothing.
Weekend markets are held in many
neighbourhoods; Eveleigh Farmers’
Markets is held every Saturday at
CarriageWorks (near Redfern), and
it’s Sydney’s favourite destination
for food lovers. Drop by and
sample the fresh, organically grown
produce and treats such as steamed
Chinese dumplings, chocolates and
other goodies.
Manly’s Corso is where you’ll
find the best names in surf and
beachwear. Fashionistas should
head for Saturday’s Paddington
Markets on Oxford Street, and if
you’re at Bondi Beach on a Sunday,
stroll to the Bondi Markets for a
medley of eclectic stalls. You’ll
always find something special at
the weekend Manly Arts and Crafts
Market, or at one-off boutiques on
the side streets nearby.
Less than two hours west from
Sydney, the Greater Blue Mountains
World Heritage Area is one of
Australia’s most spectacular
natural parks.
Visit Scenic World in Katoomba and
enjoy panoramas of the wilderness,
waterfalls, valleys and rugged
sandstone tablelands by cable car or
scenic railway.
Only a three hour drive north from
Sydney you can experience fantastic
food and wine in The Hunter Valley
with over 150 vineyards to choose
from. Then head to the coast and
discover the beachside city of
Newcastle before continuing north
to the nature playground that is
Port Stephens.
A mere two hour’s drive south
from Sydney you can swim, surf,
snorkel or dive around the beautiful
beaches of Shellharbour, part of the
stunning South Coast region.

6 TIPSfor your
Sydney & Melbourne
Holiday
With so many beaches in Sydney,
it’s easy to find a beautiful sandy
spot that’s close to the city. You just
have to know where to look. Quiet
and secluded beaches are sprinkled
around Sydney Harbour as well as
along the coast.
Just a short walk or kayak along the
coast from Manly is Shelly Beach.
The waters off Shelly Beach are
popular with snorkellers and divers,
while the beach itself is perfect for
watching the world go by.
By Vaucluse, there are two quiet
beaches within Sydney Harbour
National Park. Shark Beach in
Nielsen Park has a netted swimming
area and is great for snorkelling,
while Milk Beach, a short walk from
the park, is an isolated stretch of
coastline that offers its few visitors a
dramatic view of Sydney.

For fresh food, irresistible treats,
unique gifts and endless bargains,
there’s nothing like a market – and
Melbourne has them scattered
across the city.
Whether you’re after supplies for
a simple picnic or an extravagant
banquet, you’ll be spoilt for choice
at Queen Vic, Prahran and South
Melbourne markets. Browse aisles
of fresh produce and endless
glass cabinets of heavenly deli
goods, as well as organic wines,
freshly brewed coffee and baked
treats. Best of all, the stallholders’
spruiking and bargaining is great
theatre. Enjoy the show!
Pick up artworks, jewellery and
clothing by local creatives at
Fitzroy’s Rose Street Artists’ Market,
or head to Fed Square for cheap
books. Twilight retail therapy
at beachside night markets are
especially eclectic – and special!
Get set for world-class sporting
events across Victoria. Cheer on the
horses in picture perfect settings
and feast your eyes on some of
the world’s most beautiful golf
courses – with international golf
players to boot!
Cheer for Australian Rules football
teams, or celebrate the world
game in distinctly Victorian
locations. Watch the super-fit run,
ride and race, as yachts set sail, and
surfers carve up the waves. Hear the
racing engines roar with the sea as
your backdrop.
At the MCG, pair a game-day
experience with a behind-the-
scenes tour and a visit to the
National Sports Museum, or get
onboard a Melbourne Sports Tour
and discover the city’s many other
iconic sporting venues. In Victoria,
the sporting vibe is year-round
infectious; the next big sporting
event just around the corner.
Melbourne’s hive of bustling
laneways, with their covert
boutiques, famed restaurants, hole-
in-the-wall cafés and astonishing
bars are always exciting.
Addresses reveal themselves to be
velvety jazz clubs and flashy wine
bars, or bare-bone student hangouts
and dimly-lit hideaways. Meyers
Place still hosts the eponymous
bar plus no-fuss Italian, The
Waiters Restaurant, while
Pellegrini’s on Crossley Street is a
Melbourne institution.
If a tiny laneway isn’t hiding a boozy
den or caffeine lair, you’re likely to
find colourful street art. More secret
artwork can be uncovered in the
galleries of Guildford Lane, or duck
into lofts showcasing independent
exhibitions. With shops selling
streetwear and bespoke footwear,
soak up the diversity and then ride
away with a takeaway coffee from a
little-known café.

As one of the world’s top cities to visit, Sydney has a vibrant buzz year round with
its endless list of high profile events, iconic landmarks, popular beaches and stunning
harbour. If you want to get a feel for Sydney, here’s a tip: head straight to Sydney
Harbour, one of the most photographed locations in the world. Nothing compares
with seeing the harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House
with your own eyes.
Take a stroll along Circular Quay and soak up the atmosphere. As well as being a main
transport hub, Circular Quay has some of city’s best restaurants, including Quay, Aria
Sydney and Café Sydney. Only a 10 minute stroll from the Sydney Town Hall, Darling
Harbour is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious harbourside meal or experience the
energetic nightlife.
As an absolute shopper’s paradise, there are seemingly endless options whatever
you’re looking for. In the heart of the CBD is the Queen Victoria Building, dating back
to the 1890s, this grand and beautiful building is one of the city’s premier shopping
destinations. Further south you’ll find Chinatown, with Paddy’s Markets and some
great Chinese restaurants on offer.
There is no denying it: Sydney is one of the premier destinations for events in
Australia. The city ends each year and kicks-off every new year with a world-
renowned display of fireworks, plus there are countless festivals, cultural exhibitions,
days of celebration, and sporting events filling Sydney’s calendar.
Discover famous coastal beaches such as Bondi, Bronte, Coogee, Manly and Palm
Beach, all popular with backpackers, billionaires, board riders and the body beautiful.

Our favourite things to see and do
Paddington – Or ‘style mile’ as it is known, really comes
alive with its famous markets held every Saturday from
10am-4pm. The market is a well established outlet for up
and coming designers as well as jewellery, antiques, toys
and collectables.
Surry Hills – Has a colourful past as the centre of the
fashion and publishing trade; now it’s one of Sydney’s most
chic destinations, particularly renowned for its vintage
fashion, homewares and eateries.
Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk – This lovely walk
combines beaches, parks and spectacular views. Allow one
hour walking time from start to finish. If you finish at Bondi,
you may even see the world-famous Bondi Surf Rescue in
action!
Sydney Fish Market – Is home to Australia’s leading
cooking school and is worth a visit just to marvel at the huge
range of fresh seafood in every shape and size imaginable.
Balmain – A short ferry ride from the city, with a village
atmosphere and a great pub culture. It’s home to the artistic
set where locally made art is a specialty, along with historic
streetscapes, art galleries and stylish cafés lining the main
streets.
Manly – One of Sydney’s favourite beaches, Manly Beach
has a casual village atmosphere that feels a world away from
the city – yet it’s just a 30 minute ferry trip from Circular
Quay and then just a five minute walk along the Corso from
Manly Wharf to the oceanfront promenade.
Dining – Sydney is one of the world’s great dining
destinations. You can dine by the harbour in 5-star style,
enjoy a traditional pub bursting with history or find sublime
Sydney views at a cool rooftop bar. Treat yourself to a mouth-
watering taste of Sydney’s best food and wine, served in
stunning locations around the city.

A self-drive holiday is about freedom on wheels. You can go where you want, when you
want, at your own pace and with peace of mind. All in the privacy of your choice of vehicle
and in the company of your loved ones.
It is not about speeding to cover as much distance as possible or rushing to see as many
places as you can. It is about experiencing and enjoying the places you visit. Forget about
scheduled departures and early wake-up calls. When you are in the driver’s seat, you can
take control of your adventure.

These are personal ratings offered by our people from their own experience and should therefore be used as a guide only. These ratings may alter throughout the year due to a change of circumstances. Moderate accommodation with a reasonable range of rooms and facilities, with rooms furnished to a comfortable standard. Superior standard of accommodation with a wide range of rooms and facilities, and a higher standard of service. First Class accommodation with an excellent range of facilities and services. Accommodation in this rating is considered among the best in the country. A half star is noted when the level of service and facilities falls between two grades. Grading accommodation can be quite subjective and generally speaking the standard and services will be in line with the price paid. Please check with your Travel consultant to ensure you get the accommodation to best suit your needs. Child Policy: Please note bedding configuration varies between properties and in some cases with different room types within a property. Some hotels also offer family bonuses and specials. Your Travel consultant will help you choose the hotel to best suits you and your family’s needs. Price Indicator: The price is provided as a guide only. The actual price may differ to that indicated in this brochure due to currency fluctuations, special events, trade shows or peak periods. Your travel specialist will quote you the actual price at the time of booking. Per person pricing is based in New Zealand dollars. Look out for our “gems” of information scattered throughout our Sydney & Melbourne brochure. General Information © Visions of Victoria
  • 6. 2 Sydney markets offer a broad range of goods, from fresh produce to vintage clothing. Weekend markets are held in many neighbourhoods; Eveleigh Farmers’ Markets is held every Saturday at CarriageWorks (near Redfern), and it’s Sydney’s favourite destination for food lovers. Drop by and sample the fresh, organically grown produce and treats such as steamed Chinese dumplings, chocolates and other goodies. Manly’s Corso is where you’ll find the best names in surf and beachwear. Fashionistas should head for Saturday’s Paddington Markets on Oxford Street, and if you’re at Bondi Beach on a Sunday, stroll to the Bondi Markets for a medley of eclectic stalls. You’ll always find something special at the weekend Manly Arts and Crafts Market, or at one-off boutiques on the side streets nearby. Less than two hours west from Sydney, the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area is one of Australia’s most spectacular natural parks. Visit Scenic World in Katoomba and enjoy panoramas of the wilderness, waterfalls, valleys and rugged sandstone tablelands by cable car or scenic railway. Only a three hour drive north from Sydney you can experience fantastic food and wine in The Hunter Valley with over 150 vineyards to choose from. • 7. 3 For fresh food, irresistible treats, unique gifts and endless bargains, there’s nothing like a market – and Melbourne has them scattered across the city. Whether you’re after supplies for a simple picnic or an extravagant banquet, you’ll be spoilt for choice at Queen Vic, Prahran and South Melbourne markets. Browse aisles of fresh produce and endless glass cabinets of heavenly deli goods, as well as organic wines, freshly brewed coffee and baked treats. Best of all, the stallholders’ spruiking and bargaining is great theatre. Enjoy the show! Pick up artworks, jewellery and clothing by local creatives at Fitzroy’s Rose Street Artists’ Market, or head to Fed Square for cheap books. Twilight retail therapy at beachside night markets are especially eclectic – and special! Get set for world-class sporting events across Victoria. Cheer on the horses in picture perfect settings and feast your eyes on some of the world’s most beautiful golf courses – with international golf players to boot! Cheer for Australian Rules football teams, or celebrate the world game in distinctly Victorian locations. Watch the super-fit run, ride and race, as yachts set sail, and surfers carve up the waves. Hear the racing engines roar with the sea as your backdrop. At the MCG, pair a game-day experience with a behind-the- scenes tour and a visit to the National Sports Museum, or get onboard a Melbourne Sports Tour and discover the city’s many other iconic sporting venues. In Victoria, the sporting vibe is year-round infectious; the next big sporting event just around the corner. Melbourne’s hive of bustling laneways, with their covert boutiques, famed restaurants, hole- in-the-wall cafés and astonishing bars are always exciting. Addresses reveal themselves to be velvety jazz clubs and flashy wine bars, or bare-bone student hangouts and dimly-lit hideaways. Meyers Place still hosts the eponymous bar plus no-fuss Italian, The Waiters Restaurant, while Pellegrini’s on Crossley Street is a Melbourne institution. If a tiny laneway isn’t hiding a boozy den or caffeine lair, you’re likely to find colourful street art. More secret artwork can be uncovered in the galleries of Guildford Lane, or duck into lofts showcasing independent exhibitions. With shops selling streetwear and bespoke footwear, soak up the diversity and then ride away with a takeaway coffee from a little-known café.
