This is my painted picture for Meme & Co for the year 2018. It is a manifesto for my business and brand, 3 years from today. By releasing it publicly, I am holding myself accountable in order to make it my reality.
I have over 18 years experience in sales, marketing and advertising, I climbed the corporate ladder and was committed to my career but my priorities changed when I had my children. My life became a struggle, trying to find a balance between wanting to retain my worth and independence in the workforce without compromising my ability to be a present and attentive mother. I found myself working in an intimidating and ultimately soul-destroying environment. It stripped me of my self esteem and my confidence; it was the strength of my children and the support of my husband that gave me the resolve to be resilient, to stand up for myself and stand up for my values. With a strong resolve never to go back to the corporate world as I had known and through commitment, perseverance and a passion to succeed, I found as one door closed behind me other doors opened in front of me.
It was this journey that gave me the motivation and the drive to create an opportunity for other women who want to be in control, who value their independence, who want to be empowered. My drive to keep a balance between work and my family life ultimately resulted in `taking a leap’ into the unknown and embarking on a personal journey of self reflection, new challenges and personal growth.
The name Meme & Co came from the name my son William use to call his sister Aimee when he couldn't pronounce it properly `Meme'. The Co represents William, my other daughter Jessica and my husband Tim. On a business level the Co represents all the partnerships connected to the company that Meme & Co has been built on.
Be Confident, Be Passionate, Be Empowered

1. I would like to join the Go Ape tribe for the outdoor, physical experience and customer satisfaction
aspects that the position boasts.
The part time hours and living 20minutes from the Birches Valley site, makes working flexible hours
including weekends and holidays a suitable, economic and sustainable position. Currently I am self-employed
running my own small business offering gardening and cleaning services and Mazda MX5
sports car specialist services. I would like an enjoyable way to earn extra income by encouraging
others and adding value to an adventurous, safe and fun day out.
I have an outdoors life style and exercise daily two energetic dogs. I have an adventurous nature and
enjoy the fresh air and the outdoors – whatever the weather.
To support the working at heights aspect- I enjoy indoor climbing and have no problem with being at
heights. Other hobbies include mountain biking and dance “Zumba”, badminton and cross country
running.
I would be interested to train and learn new skills to improve and enhance my interchangeable skill
set as an individual and as part of the tribe.
I am open to new experiences and challenges with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and zest to succeed
with a friendly, fun loving nature.
I aim to be smart, presentable and approachable in my appearance. I have a natural ‘want to please’
attitude and understand the benefits and enjoyment of fitness. I would like to work taking the
satisfaction of knowing that on the adventurous experience, the guests leave with a desire to have a
repeat Go Ape experience and to encourage others to pay a visit, having had lots of fun and a great
day out!
I can confidently demonstrate various management skills. Being self-employed has taught me
routine, discipline, the importance of good time management, prioritising tasks, organisational skills
and aiming towards customer satisfaction with attention to detail, adding value and face to face
interaction. I understand the importance of keeping equipment in good serviceable condition and
facilities clean, safe and tidy. I have basic mechanical experience and a “hands on” practical
approach. I also have the ability to assist management and use my own initiative and common sense
to operate and manage a site/business.
I have good rounded communication skills, happy to speak in public to a group or one to one, able to
give clear instruction, with a sense of humour and people skills. I have a polite phone manner and
can communicate efficiently via email/internet.
Part of past experience which supports my application and potential role at Go Ape is four years of
teaching and caring for children up to the age of six years old with varying abilities. Part of my role
was to support each child, helping them learn new skills and develop to reach their full potential by
aiding and encouraging each child to build self-confidence and gain self-assurance in an enjoyable,
reassuring, structured and friendly way, noticing their strengths and weaknesses; helping them to
achieve different goals in a way which is unique to help each child succeed.
2. My experience of a Go Ape tree top adventure was when I was invited to visit Go Ape at Birches
Valley visitors centre to escort a group of college students around the course on an organised event
with Stafford College. Acting as the responsible but “fun” adult I enjoyed myself and my group gave
positive feedback and excited enthusiasm throughout; knowing the students had a great time was
gratifying and I got along well with each member of my small group. I am now a member of the
Swingers club.
General experience and skills I have include use of tills, handling cash, bookings, receipts, itineraries
and general business management administration using basic computer skills with a good
understanding of Microsoft software and programs used for invoicing, receipts and legal official
letters and correspondence. I have a good understanding of the importance of health and safety, use
of personal protective equipment, following procedures and respecting company policies, creating
and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment.
I have a current First aid certificate, renewal date November 2014.
I am the chief organiser and have gained experience in events management and organisation for
large parties and groups, for an enthusiasts motor sport event held bi -annually. I look to apply these
skills to group visits, stage do’s and parties booked at Go Ape.
Overall I am happy to take an active role with the general maintenance, business and instructor
aspects, conducting briefs as part of a team, helping to build a day to suite any tribe.
