Fernwood Academy recently received a make-over in the form of the
remodelling and extension of the existing entrance and dining room.
GNA were commissioned in a lead cost consultancy capacity along
with our design partners CBP Architects.
The works consist of the extension and extensive refurbishment of the existing buildings.
The 2 substantial extensions were completed in 2012 and 2013 respectively to accommodate a
new kitchen, dining area and office suite.
In addition a new 2 storey reception block with a full office management suite and entrance
canopy was also created.

The project converted a dilapidated Army facility into a music
department for a public school in the centre of Westminster, London.
Generally the building required substantial renovation including new
mechanical and electrical installations, a new roof and re-levelled
floors and ceilings. The challenges of a landlocked site with limited space
were overcome when the basement was extended to
provide additional space.
The ground and upper floors were converted into
performance areas and lecture rooms.
The acoustic performance of the building was critical and
sound insulation; reverberation measures and sound
attenuation were also installed.

identified and controlled by the principle contractor over the
construction period.
In a Quantity Surveyor capacity, we were responsible for tendering
the works and ensuring, through tender analysis and effective
budgeting / cost control, that the client receive value for money.

HMS Sherbrooke VC Training Centre in Chilwell, Nottingham.
The construction of the new training centre was part of the project to
relocate HMS Sherwood from Chalfont Drive.
The new 3700 sqft facility will house the East Midlands Royal
Navy Reserves and Royal Marine Reserves and serve as a
training centre for cadets.
Works to HMS Sherwood also include an extensive
refurbishment of the existing Foresters House.
Designed by Maber Architects and constructed by John Martin
Hoyes Ltd, the new facility was officially open 26th April 2014
by HRH Prince Michael of Kent.

homes, commissioned GNA in a QS capacity following the Governments Green
Deal scheme in October 2012.

Our purpose was to provide valuations for internal and external works as
part of the 62,000 measures in just under 30,000 dwellings British Gas
have installed energy saving measures in.
We ensured value for money for their investment through accurate onsite
measurements and worked closely with local contractors to ensure fair
and prompt valuations to reflect works done.
We have worked throughout the U.K for British Gas, working in Salford,
Wallasey, Rotherham, Southwark, Norwich and Stockport on major
housing projects including high rise buildings and residential areas.

This award winning construction was that of a new sustainable development
providing 22 sheltered housing units.
Sustainability was a major criterion for the project from the start and the
development meets the requirements of Code for Sustainable Homes Level
4, and is the first development of its kind in Newark.

The development features sustainable materials and building techniques
such as green roofing, timber framed construction and high efficiency
glazing.
The individual dwellings are designed to a high standard and all units
feature full disabled access and emergency warden call systems, as well as
flexible living spaces which can be customised to suit the requirements of

The previously unoccupied School building was given a new lease of
life, renovated and refurbished to serve as a communal facility for
residents and living accommodation for a live-in warden.
Due to the length of time the building had remained unoccupied, it had
fallen into a derelict state.
Structurally, the existing structure had to be restabilised and
extensive repairs had to be made to the roof structure.
Internally, the grade II listing building was retrofitted to modern
standard creating a comfortable and high quality feel to the rooms.
Working in partnership with our construction partners Guy Taylor
Associates, GNA are proud to see this historic building being
returned to its former splendour.

of Nottingham.
The build consists of a mix of studio apartments and en-suite study bedrooms,
arranged in 4, 5 and six room clusters each with their own kitchen/living/dining

Constructed in two four-storey blocks- one L-shaped and one
rectangular, the scheme is of a lightweight steel frame construction
with pre-fabricated brick panel cladding removing the need for
scaffolding and allowed a faster built time without compromising
on quality.

banner as Newark Egg Packers Ltd, is set for an ambitious project
involving its restoration and conversion into 3 high quality
commercial units and 9 apartments with stunning views of the
river.
A new mezzanine floor will also be incorporated into the roof
structure to provide stylish gallery spaces for the penthouse
