Greenlight QC is software that provides insight into suppliers' performance on quality, compliance, and provenance of products in the food supply chain. It allows users to configure quality checks, report on performance, and give suppliers access to specifications and check results. The software aims to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and mitigate risks for users across the food supply chain from growers to retailers.

Greenlight QC: Typical Retailer Journey
Muddy Boots has been in Quality Assurance for the last 20 years
Born out of an Agri Service business we began in software for farmers and agronomists
We then moved up the supply chain into audit management and certification working with retailers and brandholders capturing data on sites and suppliers
and latterly into Quality management capturing information on product and process performance
Our Greenlight offer consists of four core solutions delivered as a SAAS
GLSA – Know who’s in your supply chain and whether they are approved to supply, invite suppliers in to share and maintain due diligence information to ensure that your supply chain is always safe and approved to supply
Good opportunity to talk about integration with third party databases such as GlobalG.A.P. and Pesticide Manager pesticide submissions and auditing against retailer protocols
GLQC - A quality control system that drives accuracy and consistency - measure product quality and process compliance against clear specifications to ensure they meet your customers requirements
GLA - ensure that suppliers are behaving in accordance with your brand values - Schedule and complete audits, assessments and visits through a single system;
GLGM – Manage all activity data on farm and make it available to relevant stakeholders
We have been on a 20 year journey starting at farm gate and now working with brandholders and retailers, working across the breadth of the Quality Assurance agenda, we give our customers improved visibility into the performance of their suppliers on the quality, compliance, provenance and sustainability of their products.
We’ve picked up a breadth of customers as we moved through the food vertical - Aim is to highlight the breadth and depth of our activity within this space. Say what’s most relevant to the stakeholder group you’re presenting to:
Work with fresh Manufacturers as well as produce suppliers
Fresh produce generally the entry point as most perishable and changeable
5 of top 7 retailers in UK
70% of fresh produce supply chain customers or users of our platform to manage relationships with their retail partners
Circa 100 people - Main office in England, branches in Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Kenya support development of global supply chain programmes.
What sets our solutions apart?
Secure and scalable and collaborative cloud-based solutions
Our Cloud infrastructure cuts across the traditional constraints of enterprise systems (Accounting or ERP systems work on the X axis managing raw materials through to finished consignments, front to back door) allowing data to pass up and down the supply chain (Specification, Task Bundle or Assessment down and checks, audits and DD data comes up).
We differ in that we work from grower to retailer and pride ourselves on being expert integrators with these systems.
This unique approach enables us to reduce waste, increase efficiency and mitigate risk throughout a supply chain.
Demonstrating the concept:
Greenlight QC is unique in that it starts with the Quality Attribute Sheet… subset of the full spec, dynamic and changeable element that relates to quality in the eyes of the customer
The central Web interface makes for ease of creation and maintenance of version controlled QASs
It’s collaborative - Invite suppliers in to create specs and reduce the admin burden on internal teams drive engagement to the quality agenda and greater accountability
Be targeted in the management of temporary specs and concessions right down to Supplier SKU or COO level in order to keep the overall quality bar high
The objective is to support the end users (Suppliers and Quality checkers) populate what good, bad and indifferent looks like with photo and textural guidance detailing constraints and tolerances
Once approved to live all stakeholders are updated with the latest - Suppliers are clear on the quality agenda and checkers have latest specs to hand
Mobile checking
Specs directly convert into a prescriptive checklist as viewed in ‘mobile’, guiding the checker through the process
Checks can be captured on or offline through simple and easy to use highly visual interfaces
Quick access to specification drives accuracy and consistency in your approach
Integrated scanners and cameras speed data entry and help evidence findings and append them direct into reports
Usually good opportunity to discuss integration with ERP or PLM systems - slave to master sets of data…
The system is not limited to working in this way, checks can be configured to capture any response type you would normally on paper (numeric, sample questions, % sample size)
These include anything to do with product performance (intake, online, dispatch/positive release, taste panelling/benchmarking, shelf life, label checking) and compliance checks to capture processes and environment performance
Some key features – schedule tasks to take place at a given frequency, tiered notifications can be configured to escalate non-compliance or performance to stakeholders
The corrective action manager and Configurable workflows ensure that you get whole, accurate and consistent data sets
To summarise:
Greenlight QC can handle any type of dynamic spec, whether it be for a product (produce, non produce or non food) or process control.
Use on or offline anywhere on any device: check on an App, Mobile tablet, Desktop r through a browser. Our offline data capture App can run on a full windows OS or iOS iPhone 5 or later and iPad 2 or later alternatively check through a browser and you can be device agnostic.
Automated report writing is where the most significant time savings can be made with real time performance data made available to all stakeholders:
Have reports pushed to stakeholders via email in pdf format
Log in and identify priorities through the Reporting Dashboards
Or retrieved on demand our fixed reports give you the detail and insight into where strategic gains can be made by allowing you to compare, benchmark, trend and profile performance over time
With Greenlight QC you get an accurate and consistent approach to measuring product quality at any point in the chain:
Aligning the whole chain to centrally managed specs
Giving you visibility of performance and insight into improvement opportunities
Result: Lower inbound rejections, reduce waste and rework, increase customer satisfaction levels and reduce costs
Whether this be through tangible savings associated with cutting duplicative tasks or those less tangible yet potentially huge savings and performance gains achieved by sharing performance data with your supply chain to effect behavioural change and drive a right first time approach.
This will make your offer more competitive - Cheaper, of a better quality and of a higher consistency
Typical journey:
Basic Practice (Greenpass)
Eliminate the duplication and risk associated with communicating spec changes internally
Use Greenlight QC to check product at dispatch against live customer specs
Data is available in real time to report on and check data can be published to your customer
Good Practice
Configure checks to capture any response type on arrival, online or dispatch
Automate feedback to suppliers delivered as PDF’s over Email
Data on site, supplier and product performance for internal consumption is served up in report dashboards
With the option to Integrate with 3rd party ERP systems
Best
Extend access privileges to your supply chain - don’t just email reports, have them log in and view dashboards and respond to any associated corrective actions
Weighted performance data shows them how they’re performing against the mean and drives true alignment to your quality agenda
INSERT PRODUCE ABOVE – HIDE RELEVANT TO CUSTOMER
Typical retailer journey:
Start:
In Depot given that its a logical point at which product performance can be assessed and an accept or reject call can be made
In Produce due to it being seasonal there is a high level of variability and perishability associated with it
Invite suppliers in to manage QAS, manage them end to end internally or use QC alone to configure checks
Extend:
Cross category (Fresh Produce>Fresh>Food>Non Food)
Cross location (Depot>Manufacturing>Kitchen>Store>Supplier AQC)
Cross agenda (Store compliance, waste, traceability in manufacturing, complaints, self life optimisation)
Other MBS Products to service other agendas (sustainability, pesticide reduction, Food Safety, Supplier Approvals etc.)
