This document summarizes a study that compares intragenerational wage mobility between Baby Boomers and Millennials. The study finds that Baby Boomers experienced greater wage growth and mobility over their careers compared to Millennials. This is attributed to factors such as stronger union representation and more stable manufacturing jobs when Boomers were entering the workforce. In contrast, Millennials faced higher rates of part-time work, job turnover, and employment in low-wage service work, which negatively impacted their early career wages and long-term mobility.
