Global Forum on Public Governance
Women’s Leadership in Public Life:
Fostering Diversity for Inclusive Growth
Agenda
A message from the Secretary-General
Dear Participant,
I am delighted to welcome you to the OECD Global Forum on Women’s Leadership in Public Life, an
important milestone in advancing the OECD Gender Initiative.
Women’s participation in economic and public life, from the community level to top policy-making
circles, strengthens economic growth, equitable governance and public trust. Closing the gender gap
calls for a whole-of-government approach to systematically embed gender considerations into the
policy process. At the Forum, we will hear from public leaders around the world about their
experiences in making it to the top; we will discuss which policies work in achieving gender diversity
in public life; and we will explore how to strengthen institutions and instruments for more inclusive
and gender-responsive policies. These experiences will support the efforts of governments and civil
society for women’s access to economic and public opportunities.
Your contribution to this ambitious agenda is critical. Dialogue is an essential step in charting a path
towards more inclusive and gender-responsive policies, and I am sure that we will draw very
valuable lessons, ideas and recommendations during the Global Forum’s sessions.
Thank you again for joining us at the OECD for this important meeting.
With my best wishes for a productive discussion,
Angel Gurría

Women's Leadership in Public Life - Agenda

  • 1. Paris, 2-4 April 2014 Global Forum on Public Governance Women’s Leadership in Public Life: Fostering Diversity for Inclusive Growth Agenda
  • 2.
  • 3. A message from the Secretary-General Dear Participant, I am delighted to welcome you to the OECD Global Forum on Women’s Leadership in Public Life, an important milestone in advancing the OECD Gender Initiative. Women’s participation in economic and public life, from the community level to top policy-making circles, strengthens economic growth, equitable governance and public trust. Closing the gender gap calls for a whole-of-government approach to systematically embed gender considerations into the policy process. At the Forum, we will hear from public leaders around the world about their experiences in making it to the top; we will discuss which policies work in achieving gender diversity in public life; and we will explore how to strengthen institutions and instruments for more inclusive and gender-responsive policies. These experiences will support the efforts of governments and civil society for women’s access to economic and public opportunities. Your contribution to this ambitious agenda is critical. Dialogue is an essential step in charting a path towards more inclusive and gender-responsive policies, and I am sure that we will draw very valuable lessons, ideas and recommendations during the Global Forum’s sessions. Thank you again for joining us at the OECD for this important meeting. With my best wishes for a productive discussion, Angel Gurría
