Glass Ceiling
-Rashi Wadhwa
What is Glass Ceiling?
• An Artificial Barrier
• “A glass ceiling is a political term
used to describe "the unseen, yet
unbreakable barrier that keeps
minorities and women from rising to the
upper rungs of the corporate ladder,
regardless of their qualifications or
achievements.”
• Ceiling Means- There is a limit to how
far someone can climb the hierarchy.
• Glass means- Everything is clear,
anyone can see each other and
everything very clearly (i.e. Transparent)
and not obvious to the observer.
Reasons for Dominance of Glass Ceiling
• Stereotypes
• Lack of Role Models
• Inability to Re-enter
Workforce
• Culture
• Traditional approach of
companies
