This document discusses two projects: Gizzard, a sharding framework extracted from FlockDB written in Java/Scala, and DAL, a data access layer from iMobile that supports data sharding, indexing, caching and works with any backend. It also briefly mentions using Redis to store a fans list that is automatically resharded as it grows from 0 to 500k records across hashes of at most 5k records each.
