Unify Data Submission Media
1. All utility data applications should
be submitted as project through
building permit application CDP
under the Engineering Module.
CDP Engineering Module
1 Utility Planning Data
Issues Mitigation
The Consultant submits CAD
drawings through CDP
Engineering module and as
per submission standards
SDD Staff use PDC
application checking
module to QC the drawings
and give initial approval
Urban planning Run the
entire planning approvals
process and grant final
approval
SDD staff use PDC
application conversion
module to upload the
approved finally CAD data
to GIS environment and
close the application in CDP

2 Standards for Data Submission
1-Submission Format
1. All utility drawings should be submitted in AutoCAD
DWG format not later than 2012 release.
2. Sample drawings for all different types of utilities have
been created as per submission standards and enclosed
in the submission package.

2-Datum and Projection
1. The Standard Horizontal Datum For Abu Dhabi Emirates
is World Geodetic Reference 84 (WGS84) which defines
the spheroid used to represent the Earth.
2. The Standard Projection for Abu Dhabi Emirate is The
Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM).
3. Abu Dhabi City Municipality is mostly contained in
UTM ZONE 40 North.
4. All drawing files must follow Abu Dhabi Municipality
coordinate system.
5. Features created in arbitrary coordinate system shall
not be accepted.
6. SDD supply Reference Data to facilitate adherence to
this coordinate system specification

3-File Naming Convention
<ProjectID>_<YYYYMMDD>_<Utility Type>_Route_ADM.dwg
•<ProjectID>:- Unique Project code to which the drawing belongs
generated from ADM CDP system
Example:
•1234_20150107_WT_Route_ADM.dwg
Project Engineering ID
4. • Insert t>_<YYYYMMDD>_<Utility Type>here

3-File Naming Convention
<ProjectID>_<YYYYMMDD>_<Utility Type>_Route_ADM.dwg
•<YYYYMMDD>:- Drawing Date in Year, Month and Day format
Example:
•1234_20150107_WT_Route_ADM.dwg
• Insert t>_<YYYYMMDD>_<Utility Type>here
2 Standards for Data Submission
3-File Naming Convention
<ProjectID>_<YYYYMMDD>_<Utility Type>_Route_ADM.dwg
•<Utility Type>:- refers to the type of the utility which is submitted for
approvals. This shall contain abbreviated values listed.
Example:
•1234_20150107_WT_Route_ADM.dwg

1. Layers characteristics are specified
in the document and consultants
and contractors are required to
follow this specified layer
arrangement.
2. All Layers geometry and attribute
block are included in sample
drawings.
3. Geometric layer and attributes

5-Attributes As Block Attributes
1. Each layer in the drawing files
has corresponding block
attribute.
2. Block shares the same layer
name.

with block attribute
“WTPIPEDETAIL”. Sample of Block Attributes

3 Tools For Data Submission
1. The tool is developed in LISP
programming language.
2. Allowing the users to QC the drawing
files directly in AutoCAD software
environment.
3. Users can check drawings compliance
prior submission and get a
comprehensive error report.

3 Tools For Data Submission
1. The tool is developed in LISP programming
language.
2. Allowing the users to extract segregated files
from main AutoCAD drawing and as per the
standard file naming criteria.
3. The drawings are saved as separate services
types in the same location where the main
drawing file was located.

1. This tool has been developed using the above
software.
2. Automatically checks the compliance of drawings
submitted with submission specifications .
3. Checks conflict with the existing planning
database.
4. In case of noncompliance, a comprehensive
error report is generated.
5. Reports are communicated to the approval
requester online through the building permits
application
