Our Mission and Vision
Mission
To educate, inspire, and
equip girls with skills and
resources in technology
Vision
Expose computer science
and technology to high
school girls in order to
lead more women
working in
technology/engineering
fields while inculcating
critical thinking skills that
are necessary for success
in this profession.
Why It Matters
Women today only
represent 12% of
all computer
science graduates
• In 1984, they
represented 37%
Why It Matters
Out of a group of 25
engineers only
three will be
women.
Why It Matters
Unlike boys who are encouraged to pursue computer
science/technology from an early age, there is NO
support and encouragement for girls to learn
programming or technology skills.
Most girls are interested in a career in technology
don’t have adequate mentors and guidance in
order to be successful in this field.
Why it Matters at Irvington
Currently only three girls in AP CS (class of 35)
Only four girls in the whole ITA family and only five
girls in robotics out of a class of 34.
35 committed members who regularly attended
meetings from last year - this year we have 50
interested female students.
We not only address the 5% of the student
population interested in coding but also work towards
teaching the other 95% why coding is necessary for
success in the real world.
Accomplishments
• All of our members even girls who had no prior
coding experience learned how to code by either
making websites, blogs, or making apps
• Service Event: Teens Teaching Tech (for
Seniors) at Fremont Main Library
• Represented Irvington at Girls in ICT Day at
Cisco (field trip)
• Won a partnership with Girls Teaching Girls To
Code

apps on their own
Our Method
Pose a problem and
challenge &
teach girls how to
solve it during
meetings
Second Goal Our Method
2) Inspire members to
continue pursuing
computer science
&
Increase confidence
and boost self-
esteem
2) Host inspirational
women guest
speakers
• CS executives
• College students
• IHS alumni
3) Connect members with
educational and career
opportunities
Our Goals Our Method
3) Field trips to
companies located
nearby
• Attend company tours
to see the usefulness
of technology in real
life
