Hello! I’m Marga, and I’m a woman.
I’m a lot more things: professor,
PhD, mom… but today I’m only
going to talk about being a woman
When I recieved the invitation to any place, I asked myself if it is
because of my professional work; or just because I am a woman.
Have you ever asked yourself this?
My prediction, and my dream, is that
in the near future the problem will
be the opposite.
There will have to be a quota for
men…
because our generation is
empowering the girls. Do you
agree??
Somebody suggested to me to talk about a
minority problem, but we are not a
minority, we are half of the world. And
that is a lot of people!
I’d rather be where you are… sitting and reading.
But I told myself, you have to do it!
Because women, have to stop being anonymous...
A previous boss told me:
“If you don’t want to have problems:
don’t shine, be small, do not keep the
atention...”
DON’T DO WHAT I’M DOING NOW...
Why do we prefer to be anonymous?
If you want to be a leader you don’t have
time for everything, and we feel bad if we
cannot do everything, especially with the
family.
We grow with the message of
being a princess.
Sometimes I think is more easy to
be a “wife of”, just a mom, or a
housekeeper
Internet has given us the opportunity to connect
with one another, and have a voice.
We can share our experiences and most
importantly, networks help us to empower our
rights
Something is changing.
Last Women’s day (8th March 2018), in Spain, we went on a
strike.
The slogan was: if we stop the world stops.
There were many many people at the streets. The feelings were
“you are not alone” “we are important”
If we stop, the world stops
La manada
Last month we found out the judge’s veredict for 5 men who raped a girl several
times in various places…
According to the judges it was an abuse, not a rape.
The whole country become furious about that
“it was an abuse, not a violation”
The media got on fire with a lot of hashtags like #NoesNo #yosítecreo
#estamoscontigo
And one was #cuentalo, say it, where a lot of women told the world all the sexual
harrassment they had in their lifes
#Yosítecreo #cuéntalo
When most of the women have several stories to share;
then the big problem becomes visible.
You feel you are not the only one, you are not alone
#cuéntalo
How can this happen if we, the women, are the
teachers and the moms, the leaders in our homes and
schools…
we have one of the keys to prevent and solve the
problem in the future, education is the key
There are a lot of women at universities,
schools, the girls are better students, they have better
grades…
When and why did we start to feel less?
Now we can do work that our grandmothers couldn’t imagine.
We don’t have to put limits on the girls dreams,
let them be whatever they want to be
WHEN WOMEN GOT THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN INDIVIDUAL COUNTRIES
The first country where women could vote was
New Zealand, 2 centuries ago.
Now women around the whole world have the
right to vote.
We needed a hundred years to get the right,
next step is to win the equality
Numero 1
THE WORLD'S 10 MOST POWERFUL WOMEN IN 2017
NOW WE HAVE GOOD EXAMPLES
They are managing countries, companies and leading a lot of things…
WE ARE IN THE WAY
The news industry can do a lot to push them, to make them visible.
It´s important to believe and empower them:
with news, examples, complaints and of course, congratulations
Obviously not all have the same opportunities,
we have to work hard and spread the voice.
Remember, women are half of the world…
We have a lot of work to do
We have to prepare the world for the wave of girls who are coming.

Girls are coming
