Gifting – 3 misconceptions unmasked.
 Gift-giving is big business, if you give your customers
something of your brand the good will you give will get
you more work, and sometimes in unexpected ways. Here
are the misconceptions unmasked.
 It only works for big brand names.
 It’s too time consuming and expensive for small
businesses.
 My business wouldn’t be suitable
It only works for big brand names.
 You may have thought that selling gifts, relevant to you
customer profile, is something just for the big luxury
brands with big budgets, but that’s really not the case. A
complementary range reflecting your existing products
and services can have symbiotic benefits to your bottom
line. This can translate into sales increases of up to 80 per
cent. For example a Tea Rooms which now sell their own
brand of tea, enhances the visitor experience because
they are able to extend the experience when they get
home or give as a gift. Likewise the business owner gets
an extra £3.00 on half of his sales.
It’s too time consuming and expensive for small
businesses.
 It’s true that if you want something bespoke you will have to
pay tooling and design costs. But there are other ways to be
bespoke without creating from scratch. Firstly you have your
branding, which you will probably own, you might have a great
premises, rural view or quirky saying, a bit of history or a great
looking logo. It’s yours and you can develop it with the right
partner. You know your customers and so it’s easy to ask what
they like to see and what they would buy. Then you need a
good print supplier. Many companies will make you commit to
large quantities, and offer very little help in getting the print
right. Sadly most of us don’t have the confidence to take such
a big risk, and if you get it wrong you can easily be hundreds
and even thousands of pounds out of pocket.
 What we do is a little different. Firstly, we talk about your
ideas, your business and we will take 24 hours to consider
what might work for you. We then send you a proposal at
which point we suggest a starter budget. This can often be
under £200 – a stake if you will. This money will enable us to
work with you to develop sample stock and point of sale
material. You can then refine as you need to. Once you are
happy with your product choices and styles you can use your
samples to show clients and images of them for your online
marketing. We can arrange the photography if you prefer and
help you write product descriptions and research sell prices
too, although this does cost a little more. If you want to offer
you clients something they can add their names etc to then we
can even ship directly, under plain label of course.
My business wouldn’t be suitable
I doubt that! We’ve certainly not come across a business we

It only works for big brand names.  You may have thought that selling gifts, relevant to you customer profile, is something just for the big luxury brands with big budgets, but that’s really not the case. A complementary range reflecting your existing products and services can have symbiotic benefits to your bottom line. This can translate into sales increases of up to 80 per cent. For example a Tea Rooms which now sell their own brand of tea, enhances the visitor experience because they are able to extend the experience when they get home or give as a gift. Likewise the business owner gets an extra £3.00 on half of his sales.
  • 4. It’s too time consuming and expensive for small businesses.  It’s true that if you want something bespoke you will have to pay tooling and design costs. But there are other ways to be bespoke without creating from scratch. Firstly you have your branding, which you will probably own, you might have a great premises, rural view or quirky saying, a bit of history or a great looking logo. It’s yours and you can develop it with the right partner. You know your customers and so it’s easy to ask what they like to see and what they would buy. Then you need a good print supplier. Many companies will make you commit to large quantities, and offer very little help in getting the print right. Sadly most of us don’t have the confidence to take such a big risk, and if you get it wrong you can easily be hundreds and even thousands of pounds out of pocket.
  • 5.  What we do is a little different. Firstly, we talk about your ideas, your business and we will take 24 hours to consider what might work for you. We then send you a proposal at which point we suggest a starter budget. This can often be under £200 – a stake if you will. This money will enable us to work with you to develop sample stock and point of sale material. You can then refine as you need to. Once you are happy with your product choices and styles you can use your samples to show clients and images of them for your online marketing. We can arrange the photography if you prefer and help you write product descriptions and research sell prices too, although this does cost a little more. If you want to offer you clients something they can add their names etc to then we can even ship directly, under plain label of course.
