We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Benita:
Hello,
in this presentation we would like to show you some pictures which are connected/ refer to our topic unemployment and early school leavers. This is a specific method to become a little more familiar with the consequences of unemployment of young people and school drop-out.
Before we step into the presentation I would like to give you a short overview of its structure.
We will start with a short impression of the state of school dropouts in Europe. We will provide you with some facts and figures of dropouts for/ in various countries in Europe. Afterwards we will have a deeper look INTO the specific situation of Germany. We are living in Hesse in the so-called Main-Kinzig-Kreis. Therefore, our interest is to show you also the specific situation of dropouts and youth unemployment in the case OF Hesse and of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis. giving facts and figures FOR our home district. At the end of our presentation we will introduce the results of the survey about Dropping out form school which we carried out in our school, the Franziskanergymnasium Kreuzburg.
Topic: The general issue of Youth unemployment
Benita:
IN the first picture we can see a sentence painted by hand on a wall which says: “Follow your dreams”. This sentence has been marked by a poster with the word “cancelled”, done by the man standing next to the picture.
What does this picture want to tell us?
WHEN you are young, adults in your life will often tell you to follow your dream of life and to live this dream. As a teenager you will feel and think that there are various dreams and many opportunities for the future and road ahead.
But then, when you do not fulfill certain requirements you will experience all at once that there are only few chances more any chance to realize your dreams, although you are still very young.
But let`s start with the facts now. I will hand over to Anna-Lena who will give you an overview of the situation of early school leaving and youth unemployment in Europe.
Topic: School dropouts and youth unemployment in Europe
Anna-Lena:
The chart which you can see on the left compares the youth unemployment rate of six different countries and the development of these rates between 2009 and 2013. It shows that Greece and Spain have by far THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF teenagers who leave school before graduation with a dropout rate of 59,3 % and 55,5 %. In contrast to countries such as the US or France which managed to reduce its drop out rate, Italy, Greece and Spain have witnessed a big increase of dropout rates in the before-mentioned period of time. Fighting and reducing youth unemployment has been considered one of the EU’s top priorities, especially in Southern European countries.
For us students in Germany, the situation is quite different: Germany deals with a much lower early school leaver rate. It makes up about 7,9 %. The economy is booming and it seems that most of us do not have to worry whether we will get the career we pursue in the future. This is the reason why learning about the development of youth unemployment in other countries of the EU is an important opportunity to gain new perspectives on the matter.
Topic: The general issue of school dropouts
Anna-Lena
The photo could represent one of many students who is done with school and drops out.
Early school leaving is an obstacle to economic growth and employment. It prevents productivity and competitiveness, and fuels poverty and social exclusion. With its shrinking workforce, Europe has to make full use of its human resources. Young people who leave education and training early are bound to lack skills and qualifications, and face a higher risk of unemployment, social exclusion and poverty.
Topic: School dropouts and youth unemployment in Germany
Anna-Lena
This has been recognized in the Europe 2020 strategy, which has set the goal of bringing the share of early leavers from education and training among those aged 18-24 to below 10%. Still, in 2015 there were more than 4 million early school leavers across Europe, only 40% of whom are employed.
Young people with a migrant background are more at risk of early school leaving; the risk is especially high for disadvantaged minorities. The recent steep rise in the inflow of refugees and migrants has heightened the challenge of integrating pupils with migrant background, helping them to acquire necessary skills and competences.
Shantel:
330,000 people at the age of 15-24 are unemployed (7.7%) in comparison to unemployment rate for the whole German population which is 6.1 %. In the last ten years youth unemployment rates have decreased over 50% in Germany.
For the age group between 15 and 24, 7,7% are unemployed. This is 1.6% more then the overall unemployment rate in Germany.
The EU comparison shows that Germany‘s numbers are significantly lower than e.g. Greece‘s or Spain‘s with 14% respectively 19% - having the highest rates in the Eurozone.
The chart in the slide shows the NUMBER OF unemployed people in Germany between the age of1 5 and 20 in the years 2005-2015. You can conclude that the number of unemployed teenagers and young adults has significantly decreased (fallen/dropped to/plummeted) in this time span so last year the number hit an all-time/historical low.
Mia:
The first chart shows WHICH TYPES of education the people from ages 15-20 have. The map shows how many of students in EACH STATE AND DISTRICT of Germany (don´t even) have their Hauptschulabschluss, which means their secondary general school certificate.
The dropout rate in Germany is about 10 % on average with half of early school leavers without any degree.
Nationally, 76.000 students dropped out from school between the age of 15 and 16 in 2005 with the number including all three types/levels of school.
The lowest dropout rate in Germany is at 6% in Baden-Württemberg, the highest rate is at 11.6% in Sachsen-Anhalt.
In Germany, the Bundesländer (states) of the former GDR (in the North East of Germany) have a considerably higher number and rate of drop-outs than states in the West and South. Nationally, the dropout rate is about 5%.
Topic: Reasons for Dropouts in Germany
Mia
One of the main reasons in Germany to fail school is having immigrant roots. 7.9% of early school leavers have migrant background. However, studies show that the causes for dropouts are diverse. Areas with a high unemployment percentage put students to risk to not graduate. Also, students attending special needs schools have a comparatively much higher rate of leaving school without a degree.
Of the remaining, the most common reasons for dropouts are frustration, low performance levels, anxiety, health issues conflicts with friends, family or in school and bullying. Students are tired of school and complain about a lack of perspective before they drop out. Usually early school leaving is the result of individual, family and social problems.
One example for a structural problem is the fact that repeating a school year results in the students being often significantly older than their peers which shows in conflicts and/or a lack of self-confidence.
Topic: The situation in our home state: Hesse and the Francfort Metropolitan Area
Philipp:
As mentioned before; the overall dropout rate in Germany is about 10% on average with about half of the early school leavers graduating without any degree.
In our home state of Hesse 4.7% drop out from school without a degree. Even the total number is actually very low. The diagram here shows that students at the age of 15 attend different types of school, with the slightly largest part pursuing a university entrance exam at a Gymnasium.
Topic: The situation in our home state: Hesse and the Francfort Metropolitan Area
Philipp:
In our home state of Hessen 4,7% drop out from school without a degree. Its unemployment rate hits 4,9 % overall. The unemployment rate of teenagers and young adults in our home state of Hesse is lower than the national average and makes up 5% flat.
The Rhein Main Area/Frankfurt Metropolitan Area is one of the most powerful economic areas in Germany with Franfkurt being the financial capital of Europe with the European Central Bank and the Stock Exchange (Börse).
Topic: Dropout and unemployment figures in the Main-Kinzig district
Emilia:
The situation in our district - „the Main-Kinzig-Kreis“ - is similar to the state level: there is an even lower percentage of 4.8% of students who drop out without a degree.
The district‘s unemployment rate is 4.9% in general – which are about 10.500 of the 412.000 inhabitants in the district. Similarly, 4,7 % of 15-24 year olds are without a job. This is rather low comparing it on a national level todistricts in the North East of Germany, such as the Uckermark District, which is just north of Berlin, and has the highest numbers of young unemployed with more than 13%.
Topic: The situation in our home area: Hesse and the Francfort Metropolitan Area
Emilia:
In Hanau, a big city in our district Main-Kinzig-Kreis, the unemployment rate is 5.3%. Having 93.000 inhabitants, though - Hanau is hosting 73 of the largest employing companies, such as Heraeus industries, Evonik industries and Goodyear Dunlop tires. Of course, many people commute to Frankfurt, a central German city on the river Main, which is a major financial hub that's home to the European Central Bank. The largest employer in Frankfurt is Frankfurt Airport, the biggest airport in Germany.
Topic: The situation at our school: the survey
Helena
The dropout rate in our district is low, but our experiences with dropouts at our school are even rarer. It barely happens, which was a major challenge for a survey at our school.
In the slide you can see the survey which our after school club developed with the help of our school psychologist who has used statistical analysis as part of his professional training. In two meetings we discussed what we wanted to test in the survey. We had to decide between a set of questions/statements that tried to test siginficant differences between sample groups (determined by age, sex or performance) or to test (potential) reasons for school dropouts.
However, the sample size for dropouts was too small, which was the reason why we decided to focus on students‘ attitudes towards changing schools or dropping out.
In the following slides we will show you the results of our survey. We handed out and collected surveys from 75 9th graders and 63 11th graders.
Topic: The situation at our school: General information about our school and the lack of school dropouts
Helena
We handed out and collected surveys from 75 9th graders and 63 11th graders.
We had a lot of data to sort through and type into the computer. Instructed by our school psychologist who not only helped us to develop and create the survey but also to find statistically significant results, we started to sort the data according to different variables that we had agreed upon when we made the survey. We had decided to search the data for the following categories. We wanted to find different views of opposite groups: male vs female, 9th vs. 11 the graders, and low vs. high performers.
After having organized the data the psychologist taught us how to analyze the average values and the standard deviation for each set of data which he then used to test the siginficance of our findings.
I will hand over to Nike who will explain how the values and our statements correspond and what they prove.
Topic: The situation at our school: the findings
Nike:
In this slide you can see the overall results of our survey. The charts show that quite a high percentage of students think of /have thought about changing schools and some students also think of dropping school.
Number 1- 4 refer to the possible answers students had to tick for each question. 4 means that the students completely agree with the statement and the number 1 means that the students don’t agree at all. As you can see students from the 9th class agreed to each question/statement less than people from the 11th graders.
Now I will go on and tell you more about the result for the different categories.
Topic: The situation at our school: the findings
Nike:
This slide shows the comparison between students of different age groups. We asked students in the 9th and the 11th grade.
In the following slides the light blue grids are for the 9th class and the dark blues for the 11th class. You can see that the students in grade 11 think more often about dropping out from school than the students in the 9th grade.
The number of students from both groups who currently consider dropping out or plan to drop out is (substantially) smaller than the number of students who have thought about dropping out in the past. But for all statements the percentage of 11th graders was much higher than that of 9th graders.
Topic: The situation at our school: the findings
Nike:
In this chart you can see the comparison between the different sexes. Females are dark blue and the male are light blue. You can see that girls think more often about changing schools than male students and even at the moment a bigger number of girls consider changing schools.
Lara:
In the slide you can see the comparison of results between high and low performers in our school. The students with average/low grades of 3 or 4 (C or worse) think more often about dropping out or changing schools than the students with the best grades (1-2)
The first bar chart is connected to the question: Have you ever thought about dropping out from school?-
The second bar chart are results to the question: Have you ever tought about changing schools?
The third bar chart shows whether students are (currently) thinking of changing schools at the moment?
The lighter blue represents students with excellent or good marks (A or B) and the darker ones students with marks/grades (both possible) C or WORSE
Lara:
Students with excellent marks are not interested in changing schools or droping out of it. Quite the contrary, students with Cs and with a worse grade point average have repeatedly thought of leaving school. More often they have even thought about changing schools.
Adding to that (What is more) a higher number of them is currently thinking about changing school than the sample group of good/excellent students.
Admittedly, the overall number of those students thinking about changing school at the moment is rather low.
Lara:
With our last slide we are coming full circle School drop out rates and unemployment rates are connected. To fight unemployment early school leaving needs to be addressed not only on the EU level but also in our local schools.
I want to close with Nelson Mandel’s reminder that education is the most powerful weapon to change the world, certainly it is true to change the situation of Europe’s young and unemployed.
Thank you for your attention. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
