TITLE & PROJECT
BIGGER THAN THE WALLS will be a social media channel
(Instagram and Facebook) to show overcoming stories in pursuit of
acceptance. Each post will show a story of an person with disabilities.
The stories will be based in Germany of people from Germany and I
want to show the challenges and facilities to be a person with
disabilities in that country.
The expression "bigger than the walls" means that don't exist
obstacles when the interior force is positive. This sentence wants to
express that no matter how big a challenge is, if you believe in
yourself you can conquer anything.
I believe that tell inspiring stories are an excellent key to motivate
and inspire people in many ways and I want Bigger Than The Walls to
be one of those keys.

PERSONAL MOTIVATION
I had the pleasure to work as a Liaison Officer to Olympic Broadcast
Services at Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. This experience showed
me the career I want to pursue and my mission in life.
This job pushed me to use my leadership skills and commitment to
high levels of stress, and now I want to mix my creativity on it
directing this social media book.
I saw how "bigger than the walls" people with disabilities are at this
event. There was also many volunteers and media's persons with
disabilities too, and I felt part of a movement that is made to
motivate people to give their best. Now I want to share those storie of
people who are not in the spotlight.
I can tell without doubts: being part of the production of last
Paralympic Games was a most rewarding experience in my life and
now I want to share overcoming stories that I saw to everyone.

4. OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this project is share overcoming stories of
people with disabilities from Germany. I want to understand and
share how Germans with disabilities live their lives.
I also want to see the German politics for disabled people day-by-
day, in the streets, and shows it too. I want to approach these stories
in a way to demonstrate that these narratives is saleable for the
media and inspirtional for the main audience. I also want to show
those politics from Germany to developing countries.
The other objective is mix my academic background and my
professional experiences to make progress in my career. I want to
know people from the NOG's, from media and disabled and their
social circle to learn more about this and keep constructing a solid
career. And in return, I want to help to enhance the strength of those
people.

APPROACH AND METHODS
I would like to share hundreds of stories in social media and this
calls for a good pre-production. I will interview those people, then
produce their stories In a manner suitable for social media, do the
translation if appropriate and put on the air at the social media
channels from the project.
A mentor I'll help me with the research and provide contacts. I'll
need to make a big research about politics for disabled people in
Germany and my mentor going to help me to clear this way. Then, I'll
start to produce the content based on our research and my mentor
can be a connecting link between me and my characters.
Initially I believe that two presential meetings in a month it's good
to start to run the research, but I want to discuss the approach and
methods with my mentor before to define anything.

EXPECTED RESULTS
I want to deliver a large amount of content with this specific theme
for a year, seeking to draw attention to these people and the policies
for people with disabilities in Germany. I would like to share more
than 300 stories in a year, trying to bring something new every day
for the audience.
Bigger Than The Walls going to be a movement to encourage
people with disabilities to start a self-project in life and motivate the
public in general. I also want to promote a huge impact on politics
for disabled people, mainly in developing countries.
I expect this channels in social media to grow on the web and
expand to other platforms of traditional media and with this reach
more people to keep inspired for this cause.

EXPLOITATION OF RESULTS AND EXPECTED IMPACT
First, I want to cause an impact in my state. Rio Grande do Norte has
a largest number of Paralympic athletes in Brazil, and we can't see
investments at all here. Starting with the basics. Most of our city does
not have wheelchair accessible sidewalks.
A local person be approved in a competitive international process is
an achievement for my state and It'll give a great notoriety for me
and the project and I believe this can help to encourage the public
and private sector to charge the cause of accessibility.
I expect to carry theses stories for awards and congress in the
world. Later, I would like publish a book in Portuguese, English and
German telling these stories.
With this impact, I want to draw attention to every single person
that I'll share and be a contributor to this movement.

ABOUT ME
My name is Juliana Dantas, I'm a 28 Brazilian young professional
who is passionate about communication. In December 2014, after
doing an amazing intership at Host Broadcast Services from FIFA
2014 World Cup, I graduated in Social Communication at Federal
University of Rio Grande do Norte. Then I started to work in several
areas of communication, like social media and press officer but
mainly as a freelancer in events in my city, Natal.
Last year I was working as a waitress in a big steakhouse to help my
family and I received an email from Olympic Broadcast Services
inviting me to work as a Liaison Officer at the next summer Olympics.
Even knowing it was a temporary job, I traveled 2.600 km and went
to Rio. Based on my performance at the Olympics, I was invited from
OBS to stay for the Paralympics and I had the most gratifying
experience of my life.
