- 3. SMARTPHONES… Smartphones are internet enabled phones that usually also provide personal information and management functions such as a calendar, an appointment book, an address book, a calculator and a notepad. Aaah ,,got it!!!
- 4. Reasons Why Smartphones Are Becoming More Essential... Firstly, smartphones have a better network capability compared to ordinary phones. They are faster to use on the internet compared to ordinary phones and they even match the speeds of computers when loading pages and searching for things over the internet.

People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on facebook. And this is facebook alone, what about the rest of the social networks,,,, shocking,,,,,!!!!!

And The Effect On Education,,,, Two years ago, public high schools in North Carolina began an education technology pilot to determine whether smart phones, in conjunction with curriculum resources, could be leveraged to increase student math comprehension. Now, teachers are saying that not only have math test scores increased, but student achievement has increased in other subject areas as well.

Android overtakes BlackBerry for first time Use of mobile to access Internet more than doubles over past year Boston, USA & Dublin, Ireland; Tuesday, 8th March, 2011: Google's Android mobile operating system overtook RIM's BlackBerry globally for the first time on a monthly basis in February according to web analytics company, StatCounter. Its research arm StatCounter Global Stats finds that Android recorded 15.2% of the worldwide market compared to 14.5% for BlackBerry. Nokia's Symbian still leads the global market with 30.7% with Apple iOS in second place with 24.6%.

- 14. Conclusion,,, Smartphones are positively affecting every aspect of life as communication, socialising and the general use of more advanced cellphones has improved from the last few years as technology continues to advance.
- 15. Conclusion,,, The above research findings all have positve statistical results which all highlight an upward trend in the use of smartphones to a greater extent. Therefore I would conclude by saying that smartphones are affecting all sectors of life in a positive fashion which is set to continue to increase with the next couple of years.

- Smartphones have the capability to access the web, send and receive e-mails and can do all this wirelessly and can also connect with other phones in a similar way. They also have the capability of being able to share photos’ over the internet as soon as they are taken. Due to them having a built in digital camera.Spreadsheets are also available in some smartphones to enable them to act as a portable/personal computer. Word processing, conferencing and other functions are also available on smartphones. Touch screen enabled phones are now common and that just shows how much smartphones are becoming a part of everyone’s daily life as they fit in to any occasion, location or event. Also their network capability is faster and better than ordinary phones.They also have qwerty keypad which is a phone that has got a keypad similar to a desktop computers’ keyboard. This helps people to write messages in an easier manner.
- The usage of smartphones in the workplace is sharply increasing as the trends continue to go up. The above findings were undertaken by Forrester and the intended question being ‘A workplace invasion’ whereby the research question proved to be positive as there is an increase on the usage of smartphones compared to 2 years ago in the workplace, for communication, socialising and even for educational purposes.
- The social aspect of smartphones has just shown that smartphones have increased socialising by a great margin compared to 5 years ago. As this research is based on or upon the question of how much has social networking grown with the introduction of smartphones being popular. The above research confirms the findings and due to the introduction of social networks like facebook and twitter socialising has dramatically increased and with smartphones making socialising a breeze, life is made easier for people on social networks. The above research was conducted by the social network ‘Facebook’ and was released by the Facebook Press.
- The above statistics were undertaken by MerisStansbury and the research question being whether or not smartphones in conjunction with curriculam resources does increase student math comprehension and the results showed that students did improve their math scores and in their other subject areas as well and this does prove that smartphones can and do have a positive impact on the educational sector.
- The above research was undertaken by StatCounterGlobalStats and the research question being that of ‘Which is the most used smartphone used to access the internet either for business or pleasure{socialising, shopping, blogging, etc,}. The research showed results that Nokia is still leading with it’s Symbian smartphone whilst Apple’s iOS is second. But with the exception of blackberry being very popular amoung teenagers, it is actually lower when it comes to smartphones that access the internet compared to other smartphones like the Nokia Symbian or the Android.
