- 2. George Russell Portfolio George Russell Portfolio of Works The device uses an accelerometer and gyroscope to collect data on the user. In its current form an arduino is used to control and send the data to an app via bluetooth. The product is battery powered and uses an induction coil to charge it. Above you can see an exploded view of each section of the housing. Below shows the arduino, gyroscope and accelerometer wired together for the prototype, also shown be low.Concussion Detection Device I designed and made this product for the major study project in my final year of university. It tracks the impacts experienced by the wearer’s head This can indicate whether someone has a concussion or not. Concussion is a hidden issue within rugby and sports all over the world It can cause major health problems and have life changing consiquences if left untreated. The device has undergone testing in a training ground environment and been shown to work but needs to be developed further before more extensive tests can take place. I would like to make the wearable part much smaller so it can integrate more easily into the sport and to develop the app to a more marketable stage. It was desinged to detect concussion in rugby players an recieved significant interest. The university published an article on the project and I was interviewed on BBC Three Counties Radio. Placement Work My main responsabilities during my time at Chapman Ventila- tion are showcased here. The top left image shows an example of the 3D models I would produce for each retaurant along with the technical drawing produced alongside it. The lower left image is a layout drawing of a restaurant that I produced. I had to plan the layout of all the ductwork and air conditioning systems taking all the electrical and other systems already put in place.
