Sapienza University of Rome
Rome, Italy - 2018
Architectural Requalification
6. The course aimed to provide theoretical and methodological tools needed to set up and develop appropriate renovation interventions aimed at the Arsenale Pontofico building belongs to the 20th century.
In this group project, I was in charge of the design proposal for the interior space. Since the interior is spacious for two levels, I proposed an outstanding spaceframe structure made of glass and steel that
goes through the interior space with two levels connected with escalators, combined with plywood floors, aside from existing walls and columns with original materials. The ground floor is considered for
Sunday marketing stalls, followed by a coffee bar on the first floor and a studying lounge on the second floor. This design makes unique visions to each other part of the interior space.

9. Liman Consulting Engineers
Tehran, Iran - 2016
Façade Design and Technical Development
Firouz-Abadi Hospital– Professional Project
Liman company’s major field of work is designing and executing healthcare projects. Once my supervisor faced my interest
in façade designing, offered me to design and technical development of the Firouz-Abadi Hospital project. I had some
restrictions for this job, no extra console and not any slanted element in the façade skin. At the same time, an innovative
design that should be different from other projects constructed by the company was demanding. Therefore, I utilized
reveals on walls, playing with materials to make a unique way design pattern, and in a subsequent step, developed that
approach to other sides and parts.
As well as façade works, I was in charge of working on technical developments plans and sections by helping my
colleagues. Working with other specialists of the project, mechanical engineers and structural engineers for instance, was a
wonderful experience to get in deep touch with all challenges of executing an enormous project.

Prepared 2D details for technical development are
mainly in dwg format.
Importing them in Revit and making them adaptive
with the project are usually tricky. By importing
them in Revit family environment, stacked with
proper reference lines, and nested family, I managed
to create time saving families that led to flexible and
accurate drawing.
Technical Development
Wall Section
11. As part of the project, a take-off of Wall
Schedule based on Thickness, length and
area was demanded. To making walls
with 10cm and 12cm together, 20cm
22cm and 24 cm together, and etc. I
used formula as shown blow.

12. Design Options
• Every moment you work values
• Every decision you make matters
• Every idea you get cares much
Designing plenty of options and fragile modifications on
design jobs, are essential parts of the designing process. Your
supervisor in a firm should be aware of how much work you
have done.
Thanks to Revit design options, you can record and have all of
the options you created, modify them to have maximum
options all through one project.
Besides, you can combine different options of one part of
your project with that of another part. For example, you
design different options for the entrance of a building and do
the same for that of the façade. Then you can merge those
different options with each other and get the best outcome.
In this part of project, I had challenge of drawing Audience
Vision Lines for screen that had not fixed location on
drawing time. This situation could led to repetitive redrawing
works and time wasting in future. Therefore, I made it flexible
for any time and any dimension.
Technical Development
Parametric Amphi-Theater Detailing
By constraining dash-lines with screen, the drawing never
been shattered by changing screen’s position and size.
Besides this detail is usable for any other project and adaptive
in any dimension and quantity for easing work of drawer.
13. Finally the option which the whole
console has different color and random
touches of that on the other parts of the
building was approved by my supervisor
and client. I had some restrictions for this
job ,no extra console or and not any
slanted element in façade skin for
instance. At the same time, an innovative
design which should be different from
other projects constructed by the
company was demanded. Therefore, I
utilized reveals on walls and playing with

14. Venice island – Ear Structure
Academic Project
Bochum University of Applied Science
Bochum, Germany - 2019
Architectural Design Studio
A very huge Island near Venice, Which is 21 Hectare in area. Project tasks was dealing with some existing buildings and developing new structures.
But designing a structure which is considered as an invitation for voyagers to this Island, was one of my major points of this project. This design is inspired from EAR that represents
“listening to the tranquil sound of river“. According to the diagram below, the choice of material and structure form is based on softness of ear’s anatomy. Earlobe part for instance
is made by grass (to make place for lay down and enjoying the view of sea) and glass in façade. Spaceframe structure with composite panels are used for the other parts of façade.

17. Vertical Access
All levels are connected with each other only with Ramps. There is no
Elevators or Stairs box at all.
18. As of my deep interest in BIM, for my master final thesis, I intended to do a practical conservation project utilizing BIM from fundamental steps to end of construction and preservation after construction,
providing architectural documents as well as analyses and schedules by using BIM oriented software programs and 3D scanning.
Intercontinental motors building, designed by O’Neil Ford in 1960 was chosen as case study of this project. It’s been decided for new intervention of this building with a new function. Recreational space
(multi-functional use) for the glass box and Cinema-Theatre for the Saloon. Dealing with phases of this building (Existing, fabrics that should be demolished or maintained and New intervention construction),
3D scan of it’s brick wall facade, LEED study and solar analysis for a sustainable design, taking off schedules and maintaining Mortars using 3D Scan and Revit tools were some parts of this project.

19. Interior Natural Light
Subtracting the building
Vertically to make Patio by
demolishing Slab of Level 2 and
Roof
In majority works of O'Neil Ford,
he usually use natural light for
interior spaces rather than
artificial ones. As in our new
Intervention design, we are
transforming services' spaces to
functional spaces like offices and
public lounges, we need to make
some patio by subtracting some
parts in floors and roof. Besides,
adding green spaces and trees
into these patios can enhance
tranquility of office spaces and
waiting areas, which
psychologically leads to increase
in efficiency of employees in
office spaces as well as better
experience for people in their
waiting time.
Result
These created Patios through demolishing some parts of the slab and the roof, not only provide
interior natural light with high windows, but also make tranquil views for interior sitting people.
Glass Box Showroom
Front-Head of the building, the glass box showroom, acts as the vital signature of the building from it's
establishment. Therefor it is recommended to save all of the modern architecture fabrications used in this part of the
building as it is.
The composite panel wall, however, faces some modifications to comply with the new functionality of the building.
The walls in the top floor will be demolished. In the first floor, as this showroom should have no straight connection
with the office rooms behind in the new intervention of the project, all current connections with supporting rooms,
the aisle way and windows for example, should be removed. Only one part of the wall will be remained the same.
20. Multi-Use Cinema Hall

21. Photogrammetry, is a useful tool in BIM process which can help to get accurate 3D scan of the existing building
with real conditions and use it in our project. For this step, a brick wall was chosen to start, with 52 pictures of
above 0.60 quality rate that led to 56,453 points in Tie Points and 58,327,931 points in Dense Cloud mode.
The model merged with the project accurately through the software program Autodesk Navisworks.

Surveying
Agisoft 3D Scan
Surveying some erosion of the building in AutoCAD with hatches and lines was a part of the project. Traditionally, I had to draw manually
over a picture, but in this case I utilized multiple use of some software programs to have it done automatically. I adjusted the photograph
through the Photoshop, converted that black and white picture to DWG with help of illustrator, and the job was done. This process saved
much of time and energy to get a valuable data.
22. To preserve valuable fabrications of this
historical building, the execution, and
documentation of this project are
challenging. Major renovation activities
must be done inside the building.
Meanwhile, the exterior walls and roof
should not be in danger of demolition.
Specifically, The interior cinema/theater
construction demands giant vehicles, and
there is no way to bring such things
inside but the two voids which are
provided as high doors' demolition.
Besides, as the interior seats are precast
concretes, to pass them from the
provided voids, they should be divided
into smaller pieces.
How to manage the Challenges above?
To figure out the challenges and correctly perform this project, an accurate
schedule is demanded. MSP project is a suitable tool to plan this project.
This plan is building information, and according to the 4D BIM definition,
this information can be modeled through Autodesk Navisworks. We
designate each task of the plan a 4D-ID and at the same time, we
designate each element in the Revit file with the related 4D-ID.
To simulate the construction steps, we merge the MSP data with the Revit
file, to control the workflow of the project's logistics.
To Watch the Animation, hit
this link to my LinkedIn post.
Instead of manually drafting each stage
of a project, through BIM it is possible to
organize time stage of every fabrication
of the building and document the
project's life cycle based on. In
conservation projects, after modeling the
existing projects, we can designate
fabrications that should be preserved,
mark elements to be demolished, apply
temporary elements in real world
execution stage, and present New
Intervention fabrications.
4D BIM
Timing
23. To have our design qualified for LEED points, Spatial Daylight
Autonomy (sDA) and Annual Sunlight Exposure (ASE) should
follow specific regulations. The glass box and southern rooms
behind in this building have ASE of higher than 20%, meaning
these rooms receive too many hours of direct sunlight,
negatively impacting direct sunlight on occupant comfort.
With the insight Plugin in
Autodesk Revit, the ASE
and sDA calculations of
the rooms were done and
assisted me making the
best decision for the New
Intervention.
With the application of Louver on 3 Sides of the Glass
box, the ASE of this massive glazed room decreased
to 15%. Besides, by utilizing the horizontal sun shield,
the director room, which had the issue of ASE in the
existing situation, receives a suitable amount of direct
sunlight. However, this addition, in my opinion,
seems a big penetration in the characteristic of this
modern building, instead, enhancing the comfort of
the interior space in the long run. Such regulations
are demanding in this era and future.
