George "Machine Gun Kelly" Barnes kidnapped Charles Urschel from his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma in July 1933 for a $200,000 ransom. Fingerprint evidence and letters written by Urschel linked Kelly to the crime. Kelly was known as one of the most dangerous criminals in America at the time. He and his wife were sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapping. Kelly died in prison on Alcatraz Island in 1954.
