 I want to go see the Appalachian mountains.
Found in the foot hills of Newfoundland to
Alabama.
 Formed almost 300 million years ago due to a
collision and separation of the tectonic plates
the Appalachian mountains are the oldest in
America! Its also about 1300 miles long.
 The Appalachian Trail is a famous hiking trail,
a paradise for all hikers. This trail covers a
distance of 2,175 miles, from Mount Katahdin
to Springer Mountain in Georgia.
 While I am in the united states I would like to experience the
4th of July.
 The Bay City Fireworks Festival is one of the grandest
events in all of Mid-Michigan. People travel from all over
the Country to witness this amazing display. You will be
treated to a magnificent fireworks display each of the first
two nights with the largest of all displays on Saturday
night, July 6th.
 During the day you can bring your family down and enjoy
one of the safest and longest running family carnivals, while
waiting for the fireworks displays. On the opposite side of
the river, Wenonah Park offers great local and regional
entertainment on the band shell stage right up until the
fireworks begin.
 The Bay City Fireworks Festival is also a 100% volunteer
organization.
4th of July grounds fair
 An issue in the united state is the fact that a
study in 2012 stated that we are 14 TRILLION
dollars in debt!!!!
 The leading problem for our debt is the
unemployment rate. “Obama is seeking to
extend the Bush tax cuts for those making
under $250,000, but has said repeatedly he is
committed to ending the tax cuts for the
wealthy.” says CNN‟s http://www.cnn.com/election/2012/campaign-
issues.html
 I would like to visit Nigeria falls while I am in
Canada. I would like to visit there because they are one
of the natural wonders of the world.
 The Niagara Falls are located on the border of
Ontario, Canada and New York, USA.
 The largest vertical drop is over 165 feet (50 meters).
 The Niagara Falls were created by glacier activity
around 10000 years ago.
 The Niagara Falls are a source of
hydropower, producing large amounts of electricity.
 While I am in Canada I would like to
experience Canada day on July 1st.
 Canada Day is a time to celebrate the heritage
passed down to us through the works of our
authors, poets, artists and performers.
 It‟s also a time to rejoice in the discoveries of
our scientific researchers, in the success of our
entrepreneurs, and to commemorate our
history - a history in which each new chapter
reveals itself to be more touching, more
fascinating than the last.
 An issue in Canada is acid rain. A massive
jump in industrial production in Western
Canada, including in Alberta's oil sands,
threatens to give rise to a domestic acid rain
problem akin to that caused by U.S. polluters in
the 1980s.
 I want to visit Lake Balaton in Hungary. I would
like to go there because it is a top tourist site in
Hungary and I would like to experience it myself.
 Lake Balaton is a fresh water lake, known also as
the Hungarian Sea.
 Lake Balaton is the biggest lake in Central Europe.
Now, it is one of the most famous tourist
attractions in Hungary.
 There are mountains on one side of the lake, and
the other shore is more touristic. There all tourists
are able to enjoy the beauty of nature, have fun
and do whatever they like, because there are many
activities available.
 While I‟m in Hungary I would like to be able to
experience St. Stephen‟s Day.
 August 20th or St. Stephen's Day marks the
greatest national holiday for Hungarians. It
commemorates the foundation of the
Hungarian state, it's like Hungary's 4th of July.
 It is has day-long festivities end with fireworks
in the evening.
 In Hungary an issue is that the State
Department Report says countries have
repressed religious freedom with laws.
 This is a very serious issue! State Department
said on Monday in an annual report recording
a decline in religious freedom that has resulted
in rising religious violence.
 When I am in Russia I want to visit Mount Elbrus.
I would like to visit there because it is in the top 10
tourist sites for Russia and I would like to add to
that.
 Mount Elbrus is located in the Caucasus Mountain
Range in Southern Russia. At 5,642 meters (18,510
ft), Elbrus is included as one of the Seven
Summits, the highest summits on each of the
planet‟s seven continents.
 A cable car system can take visitors as high as
3,800 meters (12,500 ft.), facilitating ascents to the
summit.
 Something that I want to experience whilst I am in
Russia is International Women's Day.
 The most important day for women in Russia. The
8th of March is an internationally recognized day
to celebrate women, and it is now a public holiday
in Russia.
 You should know that for Russian women, this
day is a BIG deal! Bigger than Valentine's Day, and
a date not to forget if you want to show your love
for your wife or girlfriend!
 Men usually give flowers to all women at their
workplace, as well as to their mothers, sisters, and
of course their wife or girlfriend.
 An issue in Russia is Weak Institutions
 Russia‟s institutional environment ranking 133 out of
144 countries in the World Economic Forum‟s Global
Competitiveness Index 2012–2013, the development of
the country‟s institutions represents one of its key
challenges.
 “Many of the inefficiencies in the government
apparatus can be attributed to high levels of
corruption. Russia is characterized by much higher
levels of corruption than other countries with similar
levels of development. While Russia is the sixth largest
economy worldwide in GDP, corruption levels are
higher than in countries such as Togo or
Uganda, according to Transparency International.”
 When I pass through East Asia I would like to visit
Bali, Indonesia.
 The volcanic soil provides a landscape of rice
terraces, flowers, and rainforest canopy.
Numerous artists have relocated to Bali to enjoy
the baffling vibe that permeates the fresh air.
Despite the explosion of development ranging
from upscale hotels to golf courses, Bali still retains
much of its original magic.
 Unfortunately, an estimated 80% of international
visitors to Indonesia see only Bali before returning
home.
 While I am in East Asia I want to visit Indonesia so
that I can experience the Legong.
 Legong (pronounced LAY-gong) is a graceful
Balinese dance performed usually by young girls
dressed in gold brocade wrapped tightly around
their bodies and headdresses decorated with
flowers.
In the dance, accompanied by gamelan
ensemble(mainly brass percussion.) Two beautiful
dancers move their bodies, hands, fingers, heads
and eyes with supple grace and in perfect unison
with each other.
 An issue in East Asia is deforestation.
 Asian food security is threatened by deforestation
and desertification. More than a third of the arable
land in Asia is at risk. Nearly 75% of Southeast
Asia‟s original forest cover has been destroyed at
an annual loss rate that is the size of Switzerland.
 The loss of forests and agricultural land is due to
both the exploitation for profit and the ignorance
of good practices. Regardless of motive and
method, the loss of workable land hurts not only
the harvester, but also has broad consequences for
his neighbors in terms of erosion, downstream
flooding, and pollution.
 I want to go to Australia and see Uluru, a massive
sandstone rock formation. I would like to go see
Uluru because it looks cool and its all natural.
 Uluru is better known as Ayers Rock; it named by
William Gosse in 1873 after Sir Henry Ayers.
Uluru is the Aboriginal and official name.
 Other facts on Uluru: the rock is about 3.6kms long
and 1.9kms wide, with a circumference of 9.4kms.
The climb to the top is 1.6kms, much of which is at
a steep angle, while the summit is generally flat.
 While I'm in Australia I would like to experience in
the stole generations celebration. I would like to
experience this because I want to know how the
people there are now dealing with it.
 National Sorry Day is an Australia-wide
observance held on May 26 each year. This day
gives people the chance to come together and
share the steps towards healing for the Stolen
Generations, their families and communities.
Stolen generations refer to Indigenous Australians
who were forcibly removed from their families
and communities.
 An issue in Australia is bullying in school!
 School communities around Australia can increase
understanding about the issues surrounding bullying,
harassment and violence.
 Cyber-bullying happens to about 1 in 10 Australian
young people every few weeks or more often.
 Bullying can seriously damage physical, social and
emotional health. Students who are bullied are more
likely to have low self-esteem and poor assertiveness
skills. This can affect their psychological and mental
health, and result in academic difficulties due to social
exclusion, peer rejection, depression, and negative self-
perceptions.
 While I visit the Caribbean I would like to go
see Pico Duarte. Pic Duarte is the highest peak
in all the Caribbean islands. It is located on the
island of Hispaniola, and lies in the Cordillera
central range.
 Elevation: 10,164 ft.
 The first ascent of Pico Duarte was in 1851.
 An celebration that I would like to experience while I am in
the Caribbean, is St. Patrick's Day in Montserrat (Mid-
March)
 The Irish aren't the only ones who know how to throw a St.
Patrick's Day party. Though you wouldn't think it, the tiny
island of Montserrat, battered by hurricanes and half-buried
in volcanic ash, celebrates March 17 as a national holiday
with a terrific week-long festival. St. Patrick's Day has dual
importance in Montserrat: It has long been celebrated by the
island's large Irish Catholic population
 Fittingly, St. Patrick's Day in Montserrat has a unique blend
of Afro-Irish flair: Think Calypso bands dressed in emerald
green. For all the carousing, the festival has a surprisingly
intellectual side too, including guest lectures and historical
walking tours.
 If I go and visit Africa I would like to go and see is Mt
Kilimanjaro .
 At 19,340 ft. Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in
Africa. Kilimanjaro is also the world‟s tallest free-
standing mountain. Fortunately, its highest point,
Uhuru peak, is easily accessible to anyone of moderate
fitness level.
 The experience of being on top of Africa is, to say the
least, exhilarating. The scenery at the peak is
breathtaking, with the huge glaciers forming a white
heaven. Add to this the fact that the region around
Kilimanjaro is home to some of Africa‟s premier
wildlife parks and reserves, and you can see why a
visit to Kilimanjaro is indeed an African must-do.
 Something that I want to experience in
Africa is Christmas!
 Christmas is celebrated throughout the African
continent by Christian communities large and
small. There are approximately 350 million
Christians in Africa. On Christmas day carols
are sung from Ghana on down to South Africa.
Meats are roasted, gifts are exchanged and
family visits made.
 An issue in Africa is HIVs. Sadly, 91 percent of the
world‟s HIV-positive children, live in Africa.
 Antiretroviral drug treatments can tremendously
decrease the number of HIV-related deaths by
delaying the progression of the virus and allowing
people to live relatively healthy, normal lives.
 Due to an insufficient supply of antiretroviral
drugs and health care providers in 2010, only 5 of
the 10 million HIV-positive patients in Africa were
able to receive treatment.
 I am going to Latin America to see the Amazon!
The Amazon is One of the most unique ecosystems
on our planet. Its an enormous region covering
about 40% of the South American continent and it
touches many countries.
 One of the more popular entryways is within
Ecuadorian borders through its capital city, Quito.
 The Amazon is not for the lighthearted. It is one of
the world's most diverse biological areas in the
world with simple trips providing opportunities to
see diverse creatures such as
monkeys, birds, caimans and tarantulas.
Capybara
 While I am in Latin America I want to be able to
experience cinco de mayo, on May 5.
 Cinco de Mayo in México commemorates the
victory of Mexican forces over the French army at
the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
 It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the
Mexican state capital city of Puebla, and in other
parts of Mexico. It is also celebrated in U.S. cities
with a significant Mexican population.
 It is not, as many people think, Mexico‟s
Independence Day, which is actually September
16.
 An issue in Latin America is poverty. South
America Poverty is becoming a threat to social
and political stability as well as public security.
Drug addiction is a result of this poverty. It is
also leading to environmental issues.
 Poverty in South America is also a result of
migration, internal conflicts and structural
adjustments. In spite of having most of the
natural resources South America is the home of
the miserably poor people.
 While I am in the Middle East I want to visit
Egypt. While in Egypt I will go and the red sea
reef.
 The red coast sea is off the coast of Egypt and is
one of the most beautiful places in the world to
go diving. This reef is the home to thousands of
different sea creatures, because of its wide
expanse.
 While I„m in Egypt I would like to experience
Sham El Naseem.
 Sham El Naseem is an Ancient Egyptian Festival
that is still practiced by both Muslims and
Christians today. The name means The Smell of
Spring and is celebrated in the spring. It is a one-
day festival when both Muslims and Christians
gather and go outdoor for picnics.
 They go to gardens and parks bringing the
traditional food of the day with them, which is
usually salted fish, colored eggs and onions. Sham
Al Naseem is a day when all parts of the country
are busy and crowded and happy faces are
everywhere.
 An issue in Egypt is that is faces a variety of
political and economic challenges within its
own borders. Key issues include a lack of
competition for the ruling party, charges of
corruption and repressive rule, weak public
infrastructure, poverty, and threats to its
economic growth.
