A Carbon-Neutral Community Plan for Ashfordton [WLO: 1] [CLOs: 3, 4, 6]
Imagine that you are a resident of Ashfordton, a community whose characteristics are described below. You have come together with your neighbors for a special meeting to devise a plan for helping the community become carbon-neutral by 2050, meaning that by that time, no net carbon dioxide emissions will be produced by residents as a whole.
Fortunately, you have all showed up to the meeting with lots of knowledge you gained from your readings in this course. Now it is time to put your thinking cap on and get to work! Your plan should consist of the following elements:
Energy conservation measures (e.g., promoting carpooling by adding special lanes to local highways)
Steps to move toward sustainable energy production (e.g., installing solar panels on town government buildings)
Reducing energy consumption will help, but some actions will have to involve switching to other power sources for buildings and vehicles as well.
This week’s discussion will take place in an online app called “Tricider.” There, you will be able to post your ideas for plan components and also share pros and cons of different proposals during the week. Finally, you will be able to vote on what you think should be in the plan.
For directions on how to use the Tricider app, please review the Tricider Help GuidePreview the document. In Tricider, you will be expected to do the following:
Post at least two separate and unique ideas.
Include your full name for each one.
Post at least six different pros and cons for your classmates’ proposed ideas.
Vote on what you feel are the top three ideas in the list.
Do not vote before Friday.
You must complete the three tasks above to receive full credit for this discussion.
Please note: You are welcome to post questions and comments to this board for this instructor; however, this discussion board does not have any posting requirements of its own, and no additional credit will be given for posts made here.

Environmental Dependency
The human race depends on the environment for survival. Every human being exerts an ecological footprint on nature. Based on my calculation, my ecological footprint is 4.6 and 6 for transport and carbon respectively. On a daily basis I consume almost two units of water. When such footprints are extrapolated to include all human beings on the planet, the emerging results are very troubling. It is simply unsustainable. There is need to conserve our environment for future posterity through a significant reduction our footprint (Turk & Bensel, 2014). Among the actions that can contribute towards the reduction of this footprints entails the use of clean energy sources. Energy saving cookers should be embraced in the preparation of meals to reduce the carbon footprint. This would reduce the amount of pressure imposed on energy sources that can easily be depleted like gas.
In the transport sector, the footprint can be reduced through the adoption of public transport system (Marcus, 2016). This would ultimately reduce the number of private cars on our roads that contribute to pollution through emissions. Other efficient transport systems that are non-pollutant like bicycles should be encouraged to save our planet. Waste emanating from the households has been a source of major concern. The solution lies on families adopting smart shopping techniques that emphasize on the reuse of environmentally friendly shopping bags. Non-biodegradable shopping bags like plastics that have contributed to the waste menace should be abandoned. Families should learn to prepare adequate food quantities to prevent excessive wastages. Water consumption by household should be regulated through the adoption of strategies like switching off running water, reducing water wastage during bathing, washing or flushing of toilets.

ETF1100 Business Statistics
Group Assignment – 2021S1
A. How it works
• This project will be undertaken in small groups and involve analysing a data set using the
approaches to quantitative problems you have learnt in this unit.
• The final product will be a set of presentation slides which you will submit via Moodle by Friday
11pm on 14 May 2021 (the end of Week 10). A penalty of 10% per day applies for late
submissions. The assignment should contain no more than 15 slides.
• The slides should show, in an interesting way, the main things you have done and learned in
addressing the main question of the assignment. Usually, you would present these slides to
your workshop members and tutor. However, given there is some uncertainty around COVID-
19, and we have students in Melbourne and overseas, you will not actually present the slides
this semester.
• The assignment is structured such that it gives groups some freedom to explore the problem
in ways they see fit. There is no single correct answer for the assignment. It is a research project
and different groups will approach things differently. This is encouraged.
• Students have been put in groups based on their preferences. All group members will generally
be enrolled in the same workshop. There will be around 5 members in each group (though
some groups may have more or less members than this). You should get in touch with your
group members, organise to meet regularly and share ideas and the workload. It can be
challenging, but also rewarding, to work in groups. The assignment is aimed at building your
groupwork experience as well as fostering contact with your peers in this unit. If you find you
are not in a group, then contact us as soon as possible. Also, it is possible that some of your
allocated group members may have dropped the unit, or you may find that your group
members may not be entirely cooperative. If you email someone and do not get a response,
then proceed with the remaining group members.
• All group members must contribute to the assignment. There will be an opportunity to give
feedback on the contributions of other members of your group, and this feedback will be used
when allocating an individual’s final mark for this assessment. If you do not participate fully in
the assignment, and cooperate with your group members, then you should expect your grade
to be adjusted downwards as a result.
• The project is worth 18% of your final mark and your grade will depend on the quality and
content of your presentation slides as well as your participation in the assignment. See the
marking guide at the end of this document.
• You will receive written feedback on the assignment. In addition, we will run a workshop where
the tutor will talk through each of the assignments submitted by groups in the workshop. This
will provide useful feedback to you. It will also to be helpful, I think, to see how others
approached the exercise.

Students will work in groups with each assigned a role - scientist, data analyst, reporter, or presenter. They will research topics like carbon dioxide levels over time and the effects of rising levels. Each student will create a document related to their role, like a graph of carbon dioxide data or a newspaper article. Finally, groups will give presentations explaining their findings and proposed solutions to addressing increased carbon dioxide emissions.
This document provides instructions for writing a paper on organic agriculture. It outlines specific components that must be included in the paper, such as defining the topic, discussing its history and future, providing data and examples, and analyzing impacts. The paper must also use credible sources and follow proper citation guidelines. Students can choose to focus their paper broadly on organic agriculture or more specifically on an area like organic marketing or production.

ETF1100 Business Statistics Group Assignment – 2021S1 BetseyCalderon89

GEO 215 Week 3 Environmental Impact Pamphlet
In this assignment, you will design an educational pamphlet to
describe the impact of a growing human population to the
environment, the effects of the population on natural resources, and
alternative materials individuals can use to reduce the stress on
natural resources.
Resource: Brochure Builder
In recent years, there have been growing concerns about the effects of
human population on the environment, especially in areas of
increasing population growth such as India. One of the ramifications
of greater-density populationsis the strain on natural resources and
the environmental health of the world. Much of the strain on the
world’s natural resources is due to the increase in the disposing of
nonbiodegradabletrash. The decomposition of plastics can never
occur at the level of a paper bag.
Create a 5-panel educational pamphlet that includes the following
information:
Define natural resources, environmental health, and the
world/global community.
Describe the Pacific Trash Vortex, its location, its effect on the
water cycle, and ramifications to the environment.
Explain how human activity can promote a responsible use of
natural resources.
Describe alternative materials individuals can use to reduce the
stress on natural resources and that have a positive effect on
environmental health (for example, biodegradable utensils made from
plant starch or grass fiber).

GEO 215 Week 5 Greener Alternatives for an Urban City Expansion
Presentation
In this assignment, you will put on the hat of the Director of City
Planning to investigate the needs of the urban society, as well as
whether those needs are being met by taking into account resources
available, the needs of each group within the population, the current
infrastructure, and moving the city toward a greener future.
Consider the following scenario:
As the Director of City Planning, your responsibilities include
preparing the city to achieve compliance with the state and federal
mandated climate change regulations. You will be presenting your
findings to city leadership and local board agencies. The agencies
include the departments of transportation, sanitation, environmental
protection, education, small business services, housing, health, and
design and construction.
Your role is to identify and review the key practical needs of the
urban society and how those needs are being met today, along with
helping city leadership plan a recommended changeover to greener
products and processes. Your department must take into account the
distribution of resources needed for projected economic growth, the
effect of continued growth on the current infrastructure, and the
limited resources the city currently has based on current and past
practices of growth within the community.
Additionally, you will need to keep in mind not only the processes of
urbanization, but also the effect of urbanization on the local
population and culturally when proposing a development that will
include greener resources for the city.
18. Select an existing urban city to investigate in preparation for the
presentation to the city’s leadership and major board members within
the metropolitan area.
Create a 20- to 25-slide presentation in which you present your
findings.
Investigate current resources the city has and how those resources
will be converted to greener options. Additionally, the city is
purchasing property for development. Address how the city will
develop resources to meet state and federal mandates and meet the
needs of the community.
Create or locate a map that illustrates the spatial distribution of
where current resources are located. Indicate on the map future
greener resources, the location, and populationsserved.
