-Nosferatu is German for Vampire
-The vampire in the film is named Count Olak because the
film could not earn the rights to use the name Count
Dracula as the name was legally protected

7. Lacey’s repertoire
Over the years the narratives have changed dramatically. In the 1920s,
a lot of horror films were based on old mythical monsters such as
Dracula in ‘Nosferatu’ and Frankenstein. During the 1950s, the
majority of horror films were UFO and extra-terrestrial based like
‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ for example. Moving into the 1970s,
horror films started to become more diverse using a variety of
storylines from ‘Jaws’ to ‘Alien’ and ‘The Exorcist’ to ‘The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre.’ Films also arguably became more popular and
successful as well as for example the exorcist became one of the
highest-grossing films of all time, grossing over $441 million
worldwide. Nowadays, as a result of advancements in technology,
horror films are becoming more diverse and terrifying than ever with
horror films being based almost anywhere imaginable. Also, unique
and interesting new ways of filming horror films are being used for
example the film ‘Paranormal Activity’ is filmed on a simple camera
recorder and various cameras set up around a house.
