Christian militias attacked and killed many Muslim residents in the town of Zonkwa, Nigeria on April 19, 2011. The militias burned homes and mosques, killed teenagers pleading for their lives at a mosque, massacred Muslims in front of a local leader's home, and dumped dead bodies to later be buried in a mass grave. Another mosque and Islamic school in Samarun Kataf were also burned down by Christian militias, with a cross left inscribed on the burned mosque's wall. Over 100 Muslims were killed in total in the coordinated attacks across multiple locations.
