Dear Hiring Manager:
Hello, I am writing to you to introduce myself and share some of my work experience. I follow
postings on most job search websites for IT positions. My experience includes call center support
of IT end-users; network support, security and installation; database analysis, support and
software upgrades and implementation. I gained the bulk of my database administration
experience while at Amdocs for over 20 years and while earning my Bachelors of Science in
Business Information Systems at the University of Phoenix. I became quite skilled and well-known
at Amdocs for my understanding and use of SQL and support tools to implement our
proprietary software and perform upgrades, as well as use of ticketing and end-user support and
documentation.
I have worked with HTML to create internal support and knowledge-based information web pages
for Amdocs as well as for the team I supervised. As a support analyst and user of high end
mainframes and servers, I came to understand the importance of on-line up-time of critical
systems and the needs of end-users and their support.
I would be an excellent fit for a technical IT support or call center support position; for database
analysis, administration and support of SQL databases; or for support and implementation of an
Enterprise Wide Application, such as Siemens PLM Software Technology products like
TeamCenter. I have extensive experience with ticketing and reporting systems such as Clarify,
Crystal reports and proprietary call logging and reporting systems.
I performed many duties at Amdocs. My most enjoyable positions involved working with the
company's clients face to face, developing plans and strategies to implement our software and
assist developers with modifications in the SQL database. I was very successful in supporting
customers' and Amdocs' internal systems and proprietary billing software, and escalated system
problems to keep downtime to a minimum for critical applications. I worked extensively with
many operating systems, networks and hardware. I also installed network workstations and
mainframes as well as backup systems and communications equipment.
My last position at Amdocs was Technical Support Coordinator. I was responsible for all client
software upgrades and built and managed a team for 10 years. I developed policies and
procedures for implementing the upgrades, as well as wrote training material and conducted
training classes internally at the company and at customer sites in various cities in the United
States.
I just completed a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate course at Sacramento
State University, College of Continuing Education, from January 2014 to July 2014. I will be
testing for a PMP Certification from PMI.org as I add more project hours.
Please review my attached resume and application. I can provide a letter of recommendation. I
look forward to the opportunity to speak with you, and meet and work with your team. I have
many talents and skills to share that will help your team and company be very successful !
Sincerely,
Mike Powell
