2. At the start of the music video there are two men who are
watching Madonna singing and dancing around the stage. They
see Madonna as an object because they are objectifying her. This
could show gender as stereotypically women were seen as
men’s possessions and were subservient to men.
colours used, for example Madonna wears dresses in pink and red
which are stereotypical colours for a girl which show femininity.
The men wore black suits which shows gender as women don't
usually wear suits as they are masculine and are normally worn by
men. There is also a representation in gender as in the video there
are love hearts, this shows gender as love hearts
are associated with girls because women are more interested in
love than men. In the music video there is a gender role swap as
Madonna (women) have more power and dominance over the
men.
3. Gender is represented also through the presents that
Madonna gets given by the men. The presents are jewellery
this stereotypically shows gender because diamonds are a
girls best friend and by giving her diamonds and jewellery it
represents femininity as people normally buy jewellery for
women. In this music video there is also intertextuality
because Madonna in the video is dressed and looks like
Marilyn Monroe who would be men's ideal girl. There is
intertextuality because Marilyn Monroe who is represented
by Madonna in the video married Arthur Miller who was
a play write who is represented by the love interest of
Madonna in the music video. In this music video there is
mostly the representation of the female gender.
4. one man wants a kiss from her but she just get's out
of the car this shows a gender role swap as it's
normally men who want a kiss from a woman and
who have more power whereas here Madonna has
the power because she leaves him wanting a kiss
from her. Another example is that all the men in the
music video want to give her gifts this shows she
has dominance an power over the men because they
are willing to buy her stuff just to be near her. Also
un-stereotypically Madonna has the dominance over
the men and the power because she pushes the men
away this shows that she is not subservient to men.
