2. Why we advocate
for gender
equality?
• The ultimate goal when advocating for gender
equality and women empowerment is to achieve
a foundation for a peaceful world. Goals for
gender equality include:
• End all forms of discrimination against women
and girls
• Eliminate violence, sex trafficking, domestic
violence , sexual exploitation, etc
• Ensure equal opportunities and wages
• Create polices and legislation to promote
gender equality

3. Why does this
resonate?
Personal Impact: I am a woman, not only that,
but a woman of color. As a Mexican-American
woman I see the deficiencies in our
society. Standards have been socially
constructed in every country degrading women,
and valuing men. Growing up in a Mexican
family, I've learned men are to be strong and
stoic, and women are to be weak and
submissive. It’s a part of my culture, but that
does not mean it is right. I've seen, read, heard,
stories of women being assaulted, killed, sold, all
actions done by men. We are belittled by the
entire world, that is why the goal of gender
equality is so important.

4. The Road Towards
Change
Locally:
• Vote for officials who
support gender equality and
women empowerment
(get more women into
legislation)
• Sign Petitions for policies
supporting gender equality
• Spread awareness and talk
to others in your
community about why
gender equality is so
important
Personally:
• Share posts on social media, not just like,
making sure others are seeing it too
• Speak up when I witness inequalities
happening and voice support
• Stay informed, look at information on
media and stay up to date on policies and
legislation
