ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE VISION AND MISSION
Vision
The Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Government College (ZDSPGC) is envisaged to be a leading institution of higher learning in the Province, continually pursuing
excellence in the formation of globally- competitive local professionals and technologists who are dedicated and committed to uplift the quality of life among all
Zambosurians.
Mission
The ZDSPGC shall endeavor to provide quality higher Professionals, Technical and Special instructions in various academic fields and discipline, all geared towards
enhancing the level of global competitiveness among its graduates, especially in the area of applied research, extension and community services teaching and
proactive educational leadership, guided by values anchored on integrity and firm morals needed in sustaining a strong Philippine Republic.
Philosophy
The ZDSPGC believes that higher learning liberates one from the clutches of poverty while fostering respect for the environment and humanity through activism
that promotes positive change.
Goal
The ZDSPGC aims in reducing poverty through college education while fostering environmental awareness to alleviate climate change and respect for humanity
through activism that promotes positive change.
3. Objectives
To realize its Vision, accomplish its Mission, and attain its Goal, the college endeavors to:
īˇ Help Zambosurians to obtain quality yet affordable academic degrees on relevant programs and field of studies;
īˇ Conduct highly relevant research that addresses current problems and issues besetting the society and the environment.
īˇ Collaborate with various stakeholders from both government and private sectors in pursuit of social and economic community development.
īˇ Mitigate the effects of climate change by promoting organic agriculture.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
COURSE CODE : NAT. SCI. 2
COURSE TITLE : General Chemistry
UNIT CREDIT : 5 Units (7 hours/week)
PREREQUISITE : None
CO- REQUISITE : None
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is about on the fundamental chemical concepts and principles that covers the structure of matter; atomic structure and chemical bonding; and
chemical reactions: classification, stoichiometry and energetics.
INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
1. Utilize skills, both personal and professional in resolving problems and making sound decisions.
2. Exhibit social and environmental responsibility to address needs and problems.
3. Engage in lifelong learning to improve quality of life.
4. Transmit ideas responsibly and proficiently in written, oral and other forms of communication.
5. Conduct relevant research related to specific fields.
4. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
īˇ To provide an introduction to the basic concepts and principles that will be needed in the higher chemistry courses.
īˇ To demonstrate how essential chemical principles are applied to rationalize experimental observations and to predict and control the behavior of matter.
īˇ To present the macroscopic-microscopic paradigm of chemistry, wherein macroscopic properties are understood through microscopic, molecular and
atomic structures.
īˇ To introduce the methods and techniques of scientific investigation, leading to the development of research skills that will be needed in the higher
chemistry courses.
īˇ To link chemical concepts and principles with practical application and the life experiences of the student.
