One of the difficulties lies in understanding the nuances of the GED essay format and ensuring
that the response aligns with the established criteria. This includes structuring the essay with a
clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, all while maintaining a logical flow of
ideas. Additionally, the essay must showcase a proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and overall
language usage.

maxine hingston Assess the claim that social class differences in educational
achievement are primarily the result of school factors
Social class background has a powerful influence on a child s chances of success in
the education system. Children from middle class families on average perform better
than children from working class families and the gap between middle and working
class educational achievement gets bigger as children get older. Internal factors, also
known as school factors, these are factors inside the education system, such as a
students subcultures, teacher labeling and language codes also affect a child s
achievement in education.

Labeling theory is also to deterministic; it says that once you re negatively labeled
that s it, you ll fail this isn t always the case. Some sociologist may argue that even
though working class students are often labeled and streamed into low achieving
section, they are far from discouraging students, it often makes students more likely
to want to work hard to prove their teachers wrong. This was proved in research in
which black young girls were streamed into lower ability classes, and were then
determined to do better than they would have if they were labeled as high achievers.
Negative labelling and putting students into different streams or bands can cause
some pupils to rebel against school values. As a response to negative labelling and
frustration with low status, pupils may form antmaxine hingstoni school subcultures
or vice versa and create a pro school subculture.
Hargreaves said there were two distinctive subcultures emerged within the school;
conformist and non conformist delinquents. Hargreaves found that those in bottom
setting and streaming groups were more maxine hingstonlikely to be non conformist.
Woods responded by saying that there are lots of different reactions to school, but
non conformist reactions were more likely to come from working class student.

Compare And Contrast The Sadducees, Scribes And Zealots
At the time of Jesus, there were plenty of religious and political gangs abounding.
There are four main creeds, they are the Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes, and finally
the Zealots. The Pharisees were one of three primary sects of Judaism in the first
century AD. They had control of the temple and the High Priesthood. They were
allied to some degree with the Sadducees but they were at odds with the Essenes who
viewed the High Priesthood of the time as illegitimate.
Despite the fact, the Pharisees were famous and esteemed, they didn t have power.
They accept the written Law of Moses known as the Torah, the written Tanakh (all
other books in the OT) and in oral traditions and teachings. The Pharisees were a
group that exercised a form of intense Judaism that continued past the Temple,
administering Jewish constitution to all things, even everyday life in supposing to
consecrate (set apart as holy) the ordinary world. (Sweet, Who were the Pharisees,

The oral traditions interpreted the Law of Moses. For example, the Law said to
keep the Sabbath. They were not to work on God s holy day. Yet, what was work
and what was not? The oral traditions filled in the details that Moses left out. For
instance, how far could a person walk on the Sabbath without it being work? The
interpreters decided that the distance was 2000 cubits which is about 2/3 of a
mile. This was known as a Sabbath s day journey. Where did they get that number?
When the Hebrews carried the Ark of the Covenant in the wilderness, God
commanded them to walk 2000 cubits behind the ark. They decided that was God s
way of telling them how far one could walk on the Sabbath. (Reed, Who Were the

the authors first provide some background material as to societal norms concerning
attractiveness, the existence of appearance discrimination in society, especially
regarding employment, and the presence of a certain preferring the pretty norm, and
consequently discrimination against less attractive people.
The next section of the paper is the legal environment, wherein the authors initially
discuss the fundamental employment law doctrine in the USA employment at will;
and then the authors examine important civil rights laws Title VII of the Civil Rights
Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and the Americans with

in the narrow sense examined herein of attractiveness. In the analysis of Title VII, the
authors define and differentiate, a disparate treatment discrimination case from a

John Deere Tractors
I researched a John Deere. A John Deere helps farmers to plow up the land easier
than doing it by hand or horses. John Deere tractors can help with just about
anything on the farm, such as planting, harvesting, and mowing. It s not as back
breaking as it would be by doing it by hand. John Deere has technology that can help
plowing be more efficient and straighter rows then doing it with animals are yourself.
The plow was invented in 1837 by John Deere. He knew how excruciating the pain
was by doing it by hand and the toll it took on the animals. So one day he envisioned
the soil sliding easier and more efficient. So he took one of his broken steel saw
blades and started making the first plow invented.
In 1837 the first plow was made by John Deere it was pulled by animals. In 1892 in
Northeast Iowa, John Froelich invented the first ever gas powered tractor. It was the
first tractor that could backup and go forward. He used this tractor to separate the
wheat from the plant easier then by hand.
In 1954 the first combine was made it was a 2 row corn head that could do 20
acres of corn in a single operation. In 1957 the first baler was invented the 14T baler
produced good shaped bales that it could then transfer the bales onto the hay rack

were comparable to
North American department store operations of the 1960s and early 1970s, before
the development of “category killer” specialty stores and price clubs.
Each store or chain operated within a narrow range of price points, with some very
noticeable price point differences across chains. Retail margins were in the range of
10% to 15%, with high price point stores taking even higher margins. Department
stores and supermarkets usually bought directly from manufacturers.
Wholesalers sold to a range of smaller sized stores in both the larger and smaller
urban areas. They generally bought at the same price as the large direct accounts,
and worked on margins of 3% to 5% of their selling price. It should be noted that
there was not always a clear distinction between retail and wholesale, in that some
retailers acted as a wholesaler for some lines, and some wholesalers sold at retail as
well. Van dealers sold to downscale corner variety stores and small market stalls.
They sold in very small quantities (e.g. three to six pieces) and ex truck and on a cash
basis.
In 1989, approximately 65% of Johnson Johnson sales were direct to retailers, 15% to

Corruption In George Orwell s Animal Farm
The quote, Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely, by Lord
Acton is represented in Animal Farm. Animal Farm is an allegory by George
Orwell. George Orwell used Animal Farm to explain how corruption comes from
absolute power. It provides the basis for understanding the effects of power on the
heads of state, and it furnishes insight into one of the main themes in the novel. In
this novel, power affects the characters, the events, and the outcome of the book.
Two characters in this novel, Snowball and Napoleon, had the absolute power, but,
Snowball did not become corrupt with power and Napoleon did. Snowball was a
nice pig. Everybody could trust in him but Napoleon was selfish and nobody could
trust on him. Animal Farm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are not harvesting anymore so there is a shortage of food. He changed all
seven commandments and at the end of the novel he changed it to only one
commandment. The commandment was, All animals are equal but some animals
are more equal than others which clearly proves that all the animals are not equal.
PIgs are the most intelligent ones, especially Napoleon, then the dogs and they the
rest of the animals. Napoleon had the absolute power over everyone. He abolished
The Seven Commandments and the idea of freedom from being in control. At the
end of this book, some animals see that all the pigs are playing card with the
neighbouring farmers and the animals can not figure out if the person was a pig or
a human as Orwell says in the novel, Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and
they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to
man again; but already it was impossible to say which was
Mark Twain- American Author
Some of the most riveting books in not just American literature but in all of
history, was written by this famous author. Twain, an American writer, is one of
the major authors of American fiction. Also, he is considered the greatest humorist
in American literature (Alan Gribben, np). Mark Twain was influenced by the
society s conditions he lived in, hence the incorporation of much of it in his
writing. Growing up in the 1870s, Twain s society was much different than
growing up now. He grew up during the outbreak of the civil war and he lived
during the time of major cynical political corruption that began in the late 1860s
all the way to 1900. He was also raised during a time where slave holding was
acceptable, and encouraged. Under his father s influence, he was told that slavery
was justified through biblical principles. The majority of people in Hannibal,
where Twain grew up, thought this and was the reason why everyone was
proslavery. The local pulpit taught us that God approved it, that it was a holy thing
and that the doubter need only look in the Bible if he wished to settle his mind and
then the texts were read aloud to us to make the matter sure; if the slaves
themselves had an aversion to slavery, they were wise and said nothing... (Twain
212 ) This quote portrayed how the people Twain grew up with encouraged slavery
because it was accepted by God. However, even though Twain grew up in this
condition he was never a supporter of slavery or racism. This point
Comparing The Epics And The Epic Heroes
Comparison of the Epics In every epic, there are common themes that present
themselves throughout the story, such as war. The epics Gilgamesh, Beowulf, and
The Mahabharata, share similar characteristics in terms of their strength, values, and
journeys. In each of the epics that will be discussed, there is the occurrence of
fighting for honor and to have a legacy. The epic heroes follow many of the
guidelines that Joseph Campbellhas written in his book Herowith a Thousand Faces.
Joseph Campbell believed that the stages of a hero were to have a call to
adventure, he is introduced in his ordinary world, he is hesitant and may not want
to fulfill his mission, the person is encouraged by someone old and wise, the
person is committed to their journey, there are tests and people to help the hero,
the hero faces his last, challenging quest, he potentially faces death, the hero
survives his journey and is rewarded in some way, he has a journey back to his
home and could face more danger, the hero is transformed by his experience, and
the hero brings back treasures. Gilgamesh shows the characteristics of hero
according to Joseph Campbell because he faces many challenging quests in
particular his most dangerous is going to the king and queen of (idk) (where) to find
the secret of immortality, Gilgamesh survives his journey back from (where),
Gilgamesh is transformed because he becomes less shellfish, on the journey home he
could have possibly been in danger because of the deadly
The Problem Of Database Security
Database security is really a broad place which addresses a lot of troubles, such as

the info along with consumers determined by these types of classifications for case
in point, key, technique, confidential, along with unclassified. This security policy of
the corporation regarding permitting entry to a variety of classifications associated
with files should be enforced. Dangers to be able to listings can lead to wreckage

UML to Java Executable Code Generator Sai Priya Anumula, California State
University, Fullerton Abstract Automatic Code generation from UML diagrams
gains much interest lately in software design, because it has many benefits as it
reduces the effort to generate code and moreover automated code is less error
prone than writing code manually. However, major challenges in this area include
checking consistency of UML models, and ensuring accuracy, maintainability, and
efficiency of the generated code. In this paper we discuss a tool called

Tiger Woods Research Paper
Tiger Woods has been hailed as one of the greatest golfers, if not athletes, of all time.
He has trumped other golfers and sports observers for the past 19 years as he has
climbed and prevailed in the golf world. Tiger s success has been accredited to
many factors in his life, and has varied throughout the years having his ups and

could possibly be the greatest golfer of all time. Tiger s success is highly
accredited to his father, who sculpted Tiger s skill set to the level it is at today.
Woods was born in Cypress, California, to Earl and Multiday Woods. He is the only
child of their marriage; however, he does have two half brothers, Earl Grand

Whether Language is Instinctive or Learned Essay
Whether Language is Instinctive or Learned
Over the course of time the topic of language has been a catalyst for many
discussions and debates as to if it is learned throughout one s life, or is it a hard copy
instinct the one is born with. Many scientists and writers in the humanities field have
their own opinions as to what they believe about language and its plight in human
society. One writer challenges many of our educators and scholars today by
expressing his thoughts on the instinct to understand, learn, and speak language. In
The Language Instinct: How the Mind Creates Language, Steven Pinker maintains
that language is not something that we learn like the way we learn how to tell time or
learn about the presidents. Rather, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pinker goes on to comment that a young child s knowledge of language and
grammar is more refined than any artificial language system used by any advanced
technology computer aided programs. Pinker s views that he establishes about
language are in accordance with other notable figures in the humanities field. A man
by the name of Noam Chomsky has views that are representative of the point Pinker
is trying to convey: language is a biological makeup of the brain. As a professor of
linguistics at MIT, Chomsky imparted sound arguments as to the nature of language.
Chomsky has suggested the fact that every sentence that a human speaks or
comprehends is an original combination of words that has not been voiced before.
Therefore, language is not a learned trait that has an extensive gamut of expressions,
but rather the brain must contain a hard drive that can fabricate an unlimited set of
sentences from a limited amount of words. He also strongly feels that children are
inherently equipped with the ability to cull the syntactic patterns of speech from their
parents. We can see this when a young infant begins to babble at the youngest of
ages. This furthermore qualifies and represents Pinker s views on the idea that
language is instinctive. On the other side of the coin, there are those educated people
that have different views and opinions about language than Pinker
Evaluation Of The Development Of Children
Chapter One: Introduction Chapter 2: Literature Review Attachment is important to
the development of children in order for them to establish bonds and feel security
with primary caregivers. Children who are adopted or placed in substitute care often
times experience major breaks in caregiving. This results in children lacking the
ability to feel safe, loved, wanted and apart of another human being. This break in
attachment sometimes leaves the child reeling lost and anger with those providing
for them. The feeling of attachment, or lack of attachment, can determine and affect
the future outcomes of children as they grow in to adults.
Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) as stated is the American Psychiatric
Association: Diagnosis and Statistical Manual of mental disorders edition 5 states
that there are two types: inhibited and disinhibited type of attachment (Association,
2000). Inhibited type are children who have multiple experiences with primary
caregivers who don t provide emotional support and comfort when needed. These
children are always rejected, in their opinion, and avoid any social contact with
others. These types of children withdrawal form their primary caregivers, avoid
being comforted and self soothe. Social settings can be awkward for these inhibited
type of children and they respond with aggression and vigilance (Wimmer, 2009).
Children who have the disinhibited type have many experiences with primary
caregivers who are not responsive to their

The Importance Of Human Rights In Estonia
Human right are the specific rights that are inherently instilled to all human beings
regardless of their nationality, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, language or any of
feature that other may try to segment/discriminate them into a defined category. The
united nations holds these rights to the utmost extent and realizes there are many
countries where these rights are being infringed upon. There are international human
rightslaws that try to protect the people and it has been reiterated numerous times.
However there is still much needed to be done to improve the status and standard of
living of the people that do not have the opportunity to hold all of these rights.
This paper will focus on my delegation country which is Estonia and we will explore
human rights through perspective and their stance on this subject. We will also
explore the popular opinions of the people of Estonia and how they value and
interpret human rights. Estonia acknowledges human rights and are generally
respected by the government. However, there are concerns such as the police s use
of force, child abuse, and detention conditions. In terms of quantity, as of 2010, there
have been 23 judgment cases brought against Estonia and in 19 cases there was at
least one violation relating to human rights. A major human rights problem in Estonia
is the is large population of Children that are Statelessness. When Estonia gained
independence in 1991, the government adopted strict citizenship
The Mood Disorder And Anxiety Disorder
Throughout our culture we often see people who do not fall under regular norms.
These people can sometimes be defined as abnormal or unusual. Sometimes these
abnormal behaviors can be caused by psychological issues in the mind, rather than
extrinsic forces. These issues are not always easy to detect, but can range from
things as simple as stress and anxiety to disorders such as dissociative disorder. A
huge category of disorders is called the mood disorder. This paper will delve in to
the mood disorder, particularly bipolar disorder, how it is diagnosed, how it
develops, and what it is like to have this disorder. Moods are a common part of
everyday life. They fluctuate every second of the day. It is normal to be happy,
depressed, content, or even excited depending on the events that happen in your
day, and how you perceive these events. A mood disorder is recognized when
moods become impairing and hard to cope with (Parker et al, 2012, p.419). People
have extreme swings from extreme happiness to sadness. These moods cannot be
controlled, causing them to react inappropriately to events that are happening in
their lives. Mood disorders can cause a person to be unstable in certain aspects of
their lives, causing a disruption in a person s daily activities. One of the major
disorders that emerge from a mood disorder is bipolar disorder. Basically anyone can
develop this disorder. No matter what gender, age, race, or culture a person has an
equal chance of acquiring bipolar
Nietzsche On The Genealogy Of Morality
Friedrich Nietzsche, an extremely controversial thinker of his time, was an outspoken
critic of German nationalism, anti Semitism, and religious dogmatism (Kellner).
Indubitably, Nietzsche has had a great impact on the improvement of twentieth
century social thought. Key ideas from Nietzsche are included in the following: The
Gay Science, On the Genealogy of Morality and Beyond Good and Evil. In the Gay
Science, Nietzsche presents the famous image of the madman declaring Godis dead...
and we have killed him . Much of Nietzsche s work problematizes Christianity and
urges humanity to rethink the basis of morality. The artful self stylization that may
be implied by this is also suggested, and how to live without religious certainty. After

Nietzsche spoke of people that fell short of such originality as herd animals ,
moderns... [who] possess nothing which is truly ours (Nietzsche, 1886). In addition,
he critiqued modernity for inhibiting the creation of liberated, more contented, and
individuals of good health. Referring to the modern culture as barbaric (Nietzsche,
1887), he suggested that a higher form of culture could be obtained through free
spirited individuality and the process of self overcoming. Nietzsche proposed that we
are the creature and creator of ourselves. In order to attain this higher form of culture
and individuality, the creature with brutality instincts within us must be conquered.
We must self examine and assess ourselves in order to become improved
Seismic Profile Essay
Use of Seismics for Lithology Characterization Aditya Chakravarty Abstract This
paper studies the application of Rock Physics Models by using Seismic and Well
log data to characterize the reservoir sedimentological parameters (viz. Porosity,
sorting, cement content and fluid saturation). When properly constrained by local
subsurface environment, rock physics models can be used to predict the reservoir
quality away from wells. Various researchers have applied a combination of
theoretical and heuristic models to generate diagnostic Rock Physics templates (RPT
s). These RPT s show the trend of Seismic attributes (Acoustic impedance, VP/VS
ratio, Elastic Moduli and) of rocks with changing geological parameters like
cementing, sorting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These models premise that the inclusions are ellipsoidal or penny shaped. Although
the Inclusion Models have significantly furthered our understanding of the effects of
compliant inclusions in rocks, the simplistic assumption of the pore shapes makes it
difficult to compare them to actual pore geometries. Displacement Discontinuity
models represent the elastic response of rocks with oriented fractures under low
frequency (e.g. Schoenberg and Douma, 1988; Sayers and Kachanov, 1995;
Schoenberg and Sayers 1995). These models assume fractures to be infinitesimally
thin displacement breaks which are defined by their normal and shear compliances.
This represents the additional compliance of the rock in comparison to the matrix,
due to the presence of fractures. Their usage necessitates the knowledge of fracture
compliances and over simplifies the complex nature of fractures as mere planes of
discontinuity. Computational Models (e.g. Knackstedt et al., 2009) represent the
actual geometry of the porous dry frame through rigorous imaging using Computed
Tomography (CT) scanning. The mechanical response of the rock is also computed,
using Finite Element Modelling (FEM) and Discrete Element Modelling (DEM)
schemes. The obvious merit of such models is the realistic representation of the
geometry and elastic moduli. A high computational capability requirement and
expensive equipment for pore scale imaging are the factors that limit their usage.

Pros And Cons Of Dynamite
Films
As you go through life, you will meet a lot of people that do not like the same
things that you do. This is a personal preference difference, and it s normal. But
anybody who says that they don t like Napoleon Dynamite is a fucking sociopath
asshole who needs to be put to the sword. These people do not understand humor, and
they are worthless.

Film is my passion. I thoroughly enjoy watching and analyzing movies finding the
pros and cons. In film there are many different pieces that have to go together in
order to make a movie work including: cinematography, the actual image and how it
is displayed; sound, the score, sound effects and overall how clear it is to
understand what actors are saying; the editing, how all the individual clips are put
together; and dialogue and story, what the actors are saying and what the movie is
about. A bad movie probably has done most of these poorly. A good movie may be
lacking in one of these departments. A great movie has all bases covered, however,
there are exceptions on this depending on personal preference. Some movies might
end up being controversial. Some may love it. Same may hate it. But one must still
appreciate a movie for all the hard work and effort that has been poured into it. My
favourite example of a polarizing movie is Jared Hess 2004 movie Napoleon

Wow! How the Personal Computer has Changed the World
Computers have been an indispensable aspect of life for what seems forever. But,
this was not always the case. All of the things that seem like they are natural
components to a computers interface like a mouse, keyboard, and the internet were
just toys for tinkering about 30 years ago. The man who made the first computer
controlled it with just a series of switches and displayed data on a few labeled LED
lights. Since the invention of the electronic computer inventors have constantly been
pushing forwards on every front making them faster, smaller, and less expensive. But,
more importantly then how we have changed computers is how computers have
changed us. Computers have changed almost every aspect of life as we know it

had grown by eighteen thousand units. The 1970 s were the years when the
computer really took off and reached the basic model that people know today. The
microprocessor replaced the microchip. The microprocessor had ten times the
power of a microchip but it was about a tenth of the price. Computers were still only
used by hobbyists but they becoming easier to use by the month. The two biggest
event for the personal computers would happen in the last five years of the decade.
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniac would start Apple Computers and create the first
computer that anyone could use, the Apple II. In 1978 the college dropout student
Bill Gates would create the company which in only thirty years would become the
company to run over ninety percent of all computers in the world, Microsoft. The
personal computer took the final steps to become what is today during the late 1980
s and early 90 s. During the 80 s computer advances were accelerating by leaps and
bounds in all different directions becoming smaller, faster, and lighter. The co
founder of Intel noticed a trend in how these evolutions took place. His name was
Gordon Moore and his principal stays true to this day. He noticed that the number of
transistors per square inch of circuits doubled every year since the invention. At the
point of the 1980 s it had slowed down to a little under eighteen months for the
amount of transistors to double but still the principal idea held true. The other major

Afro-Brazil Culture
The transatlantic slave trade was a primary structuring force of brazilian society.
When Brazil became independent in 1822 from portugal, the slave trade was
perceived as a dominant activity in the country s economy because it involved so
much formation and investments. Slavery played a significant role in the structure
of Brazil considering that the system of involuntary labor was the biggest and most
extended of all the slave societies in the Atlantic world. This molded Brazilian ways
of life including jobs, transportation, economic concerns, political factors and culture
in many ways. The modernize approach of religion and traditions of the old African
culture now converted into an Afro Brazilian culture that still has an impact and
exists today which is also still celebrated in Brazil. I believe that without slavery,
many of the importance of both sides of society selling slaves and buying slaves
would not have shaped humanity in the modern world. Two centuries had seen
African and European cultural religious and linguistic habits merging into unique
Afro Brazilian social and religious customs, music, and storytelling (Nellis 62). The
cultural influence of Afro Brazilians has persistently grew from celebrations like
carnaval into a mainstream popular culture. Brazil holds a variety of different ideas,
culture and people. These ideas and traditions include musical interests, dancing,
different food dishes, literature and art, festivities, and religious practices.

Sheep Are An Important Part Of The Global Agricultural...
Sheep are an important part of the global agricultural economy. Domestic sheep
provide a wide array of raw materials. Wool is one of the first textiles, although in the
late 20th century wool prices began to fall as the result of the popularity and cheap
prices for synthetic fabrics . Sheep meat and milk are the earliest staple proteins
consumed by human civilization after the transition from hunting and gathering to
agriculture. Byproducts from the slaughter of sheepare also of value; sheep tallow can
be used in candle and soap making , while sheep bone and cartilage has been used to

When looking at these images I think of the original piece that these works are a

of him running and the photograph the poster referenced. In the second and third

second poster has a portrait of the Joker from the batman series. The third is a
reference to Bill Clinton s sex scandal. The artist uses art appropriation to use an
image that the audience already knows. Since the audience is already familiar with
parts of the image it becomes sort of a parody. The audience can look at the piece
and form their own judgements based on what they think about these events. For
example a person who was not a fan of Obama during his political run would
already have their views of Obama when they look at the hope poster. They may not

currently happening in the world. Each image is able to be shared by mass media

Dorothy L. Sayers’ Gaudy Night Essay
Dorothy L. Sayers Gaudy Night
When Gayle Wald wrote, Sayers s career writing detective stories effectively ends
with Gaudy Night (108), she did not present a new argument, but continued the
tradition that Gaudy Night does not center on the detective story. Barbara Harrison
even labeled Dorothy Sayers s Lord Peter/Harriet Vane books, Strong Poison, Gaudy
Night, and Busman s Honeymoon, as deliriously happy ending romances (66). The
label stretches the definition of a romance, but Gaudy Night indeed has very little to
do with crime. Sayers encrypted the real story within her detective novel. This story

We usually think of crypts as graves or coded messages, similar to the letter in
Have His Carcasse. The notion of a crypt, however, contains a deeper
psychological meaning. Crypts deal with the ideas of introjection and
incorporation. These concepts identify the alternative ways in which the psyche
handles trauma. When the psyche introjects a trauma, the trauma melds into the
subconscious. If the psyche successfully assimilates the trauma, it unites with the
rest of the psyche, much like a cube of ice (the trauma) melting in a glass of water
(the psyche). Incorporation occurs when trauma embeds itself into the psyche, but
remains separate and, therefore, separable. If we return to the idea of the psyche
as a glass of water, incorporation resembles what happens when a Ping Pong ball
(the trauma) drops into a glass of water. The ball remains a lump in the psyche.
Jacques Derrida wrote about the crypt sealing the loss of the object, but also
marking the refusal to mourn . . . I pretend to keep the dead alive, intact, safe
(save) inside me, but it is only to refuse, in a necessarily equivocal way, to love the
dead as a living part of me, dead save in me, through the process of introjection, as
happens in so called normal mourning ( Foreword 17). The tomb stands then as an
incorporation of the trauma of death. We physically mark the place of rest as a mirror
of our inability to assimilate that trauma
Simply Suds Research Paper
Lather, sometimes called soapsuds or simply suds is a frothy, white mass of bubbles
that results when a cleansing substance or soap is combined with water. It is widely
believed that the more lather a product generates, the better it is at cleaning. This
belief, which is promoted through the marketing of products is incorrect, however,
having become accustomed to copious amounts of lather in our beauty products, it
has become the norm to expect it and to think more highly of products based
(sometimes) solely on how much lather they generate.
Perhaps our love of lather begins in infancy and childhood when we are enticed to
our baths by the presence of lots of white bubbles and spend countless minutes
popping and blowing them. Perhaps we take this childlike wonder and love of
bubbles into adulthood because we are apt to wonder just how clean or hair or skin is
if our shampoo, soap or bod wash did not create lots of foam. Many of us go through
life never realizing that lather is not necessary in order to get things clean. More
often than not, lathering agents are added to products for the sole purpose of
satisfying the expectations of consumers. The companies that make our personal care
and beauty products ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

creating the white bubbles we love to see, also help to make products such as

carcinogens. They are frequently used because they are inexpensive and allow
manufacturing companies to make more money. The risk of cancer, however, is far
too serious a consequence for unnecessary
Sexual Content As A Man Or A Woman
Introduction Critics decry the perverseness of television. They claim that the
abundance of sexual content is poisoning their minds. Unfortunately, when it comes
to backing up these claims, they are hard pressed to actually find evidence to back
this up. Sexual content will be searched within the parameters of sitcoms. This paper
will be specifically focusing on sexual content when it is portrayed in a comedy.
Comedies are unique from dramas because they portray things in a funny light.
They can still deal with serious topics, but they go about things in a different
manner. Topics are played for a comedic effect, and when they revolve around
things that are sexual in nature, people are worried that they are encouraging that
specifically. The research will be exploring whether the subject of these sexual jokes
are a man or a woman. There are comedic sexual references to both males and
females being made by both males and females.
Research
Sexual content on television needs to have a definition. It cannot merely be defined
according to one s own comfort and thinking in regards to sex. Kunkel, Eyal, and
Finnerty (2005) describe sexual content as any depiction of sexual activity, sexually
suggestive behaviour, or talk about sexuality or sexual activity . This is a common
definition that is held to by many people, but some view sex as having more to do
with culture. Buckingham, Willett, Bragg and Russell (2010) argue that sex might
have more to do with cultural values and

The Relationship of Dispersion Forces and Hydrogen
Bonding...
The objective of this experiment was to investigate the relationship of dispersion
forces and hydrogen bonding forces in intermolecular attractions through the
evaporation of different substances. Using temperature probes, the endothermic
process of evaporation is measured by inserting the probes into the substance and then
taking them out to allow the substance to evaporate, the change in temperature of the
substances showed if a lot or not a lot of evaporationoccurred and over how long the
evaporation took place depending on if the change in temperature was high or low.

On the other hand, hexane has only dispersion forces which would mean it would
have had a higher change in temperature, but it has a molecular weight of 86.18 g
/mol which would make it harder to break its bonds during evaporation which
would explain why the change in temperature isn t as high as expected. Firgure 4
illustrated the evaporation rates of acetone and water. Here a huge difference in
evaporation rates can be seen. Despite its low molecular mass, the very strong
hydrogen bonds in water made it much harder to evaporate compared to the
dispersions forces in acetone which are weak. Which means, as figure 4 shows,
water had a much lower change in temperature than acetone, meaning the water did
not evaporate as quickly as the acetone because the hydrogen bonds of water kept
it from doing so at the rate of acetone. Figure 5 shows the comparison of the four
alcohols used in the experiment according to their change in temperature during
evaporation and their respective molecular weights. For all of the alcohols the
pattern of low molecular weight and high temperature changes could be seen, this is
because it is easier to break the bonds of a substance thus evaporating it if it has a
low molecular weight and not a high one. The alkanes pentane and hexane both had
dispersion forces, which are weak intermolecular forces and explains why they
An Analysis Of My Life

yard occupied by rocks where the rest of the neighborhood had a plot of plush grass.
Our lawn was instead adorned by a date palm tree and a cement donkey statue. But it
was the tall, spindly weeds that invaded the concrete and crept out from between
cracks in the sidewalk that always grabbed the household s attention.
It seemed as though my mother spent day after day hunched over, trying to eradicate
the pesky invaders but always to no avail. Although it would appear for a brief
moment after treatment that they had finally been suppressed, those weeds would
always inevitably pop back up with what seemed to be a vigor that only gained

But one day during class, I was notified to stop by the counselor s office

When I entered the room, the counselor and I quickly got through the necessary

The Power Of Napoleon Bonaparte

power and victory is feeling conquering any death. Napoleon Bonaparte, French
Emperor is one who acknowledged in the power of glory. Even as a young boy
Bonaparte was fascinated in war and battle tactics, his father was a lawyer who
taught him the capacity of words. Napoleon Bonaparte was destined to be a leader,
his determination and lust to win, gave him the position of army general and from
there he ascended to emperor. His drive for the militaryforce reshaped the world.
Napoleon Bonaparte ruled through untelligence and reputation is an effective leader
because of his military control and strategic skills, as well as the use of his education
to manipulate and conquer much of Europe.
Through manipulation and making decisions to benefit to the majority of the
population Napoleon Bonaparte achieved power, Bonaparte was an intelligent
man and knew how to persuade people to believe and trust in him. He would do
this through his speeches, where he would inspire many with such loyalty and

Europe by creating the deceptive idea of propaganda which was regular in his

When it comes time to make an important decision, ones personal courage and self
discipline are put to the test and what has been instilled in them from the beginning
of their lives is the determining factor of how the situation will turn out. There are
many things that can go wrong in the process of passing family values on from
generation to generation. If certain values are instilled in a particular family since
the dawn of its existence, and those values are not necessarily the best ones, it is
more than likely going to be considered a perfectly acceptable value and taught to
members of that family to come. When negative family values are taught, it is
common that when someone applies those same values to real world situations, they
will encounter conflict among people and situations that they come across. This is
common with families that are prejudice, racist, sheltered, or just plain ignorant to
modern cultural standards. It is a very sad thing when incorrect or socially
unacceptable values are taught to the youth in a family. For the reason that, to a
young and impressionable mind what is taught to them is the only thing that they
know and it is always considered right. It is not the youth s fault, or the parents fault
for that matter, it is just simply a matter of how a particular family or group of
people adapt and conform to contemporary socially acceptable customs. Sometimes,
the teaching of family values is diverted by
Should The Government Regulate The Internet
These days the internet has become an essential part to living for almost everyone but
one of the controversial topics that people bring up is that whether or not the
government should regulate information on the internet. Both sides have valid points
which form a reasonable argument. Some people would say that they need to because
of the dangers lurking around in the cyber world but the reasons for why the
government shouldn t regulate the Internetoutnumber the reasons for why they
should. The federal government should not regulate or censor information on the
internet because doing so violates the first amendment and citizen s right to privacy,
degrades the educational value of the web, prevents the promotion and facilitation of

In 2011, several people started a Don t Filter Me project. They wanted to remove the
web filters on the school computers that blocked several educational sites. They filed
lawsuits and demanded that they unblock these sites and take away the web filters.
Also another group of people petitioned the Supreme Court to strike down the
Communications Decency Act in Reno v. ACLU in 1997. As a result, the court
granted the highest level of First Amendment protection to the internet. Also in 2004,
the Supreme Court announced that it will not hear government s appeal of a ban on
the Child Online Protection Act. They thought of this as a violation of the First
Amendment (Internet Censorship 1).
Once again, it would be common sense to allow someone their first amendment and
privacy rights. Without these rights, the people would never be able to truly express
their ideas to the public. If the government censored the internet, people would not be
able to publish what they wanted to because of the internet regulation. Instead of
thinking creatively and coming up with new ideas, people would have to follow
regulations. This could be a danger to society because it would hinder the people
from succeeding, evolving, and gaining more information. This is why people should
be allowed to think freely without the federal government censoring and regulating

Essay on Picasso
Art represents beauty. It represents the soul and spirit of the artist. It s a form of
communication that the artist can use as a substitution for words. Art has flourished
the world for thousands of years and it has no intentions on stopping. One of quot;the
most important figure s in modern artquot; (Selfridge, 15) is a man by the name of
Pablo Picasso. He has taken the world into many places and has enabled us to see
many abstract creations through his artwork alone. (Selfridge, 20) Born on October
25, 1881, Picasso was a miracle right from the start. There were complicationswith
birth and everyone was surethat he wasn t going to make it, but then Picasso s uncle,
Salvador Ruiz, was able to make this tragedy a miracle. He... Show more content on

(Jaffe, 117) The school didn t work out, so Picasso went to Paris, which was one of
his dreams... He was able to explore the streets, caf amp;eacute;s, and museums that
Paris had to offer. An art dealer, by the name of Pere Manach, was impressed by
the work he had seen of Picasso s and offered him a deal. He would pay him 150
francs every month for all of the work he had completed in that time period.
(Selfridge, 85) Although Picasso left back to Spain, he agreed and they made
arrangements to make an exchange every month. Picasso received word that a
well respected art dealer named Ambroise Vollard wanted to exhibit his work, so
Picasso returned to Paris for the occasion. (Selfridge, 88) The exhibit turned out to
be very successful, and fifteen pieces of Picasso s was purchased before the
exhibit was opened. Picasso returned to Spain and continued his work there. A
good friend of his named Casagemos committed suicide, which made Picasso very
depressed. He showed his emotions through his work by painting mostly in shades
of blue. This is known as his blue period, where all his subjects dealt with poverty,
depression, and human struggle. (Westernbaker, 162) In 1905, Picasso met a
woman named Gertrude Stein and he immediately wanted to use her in his portraits.
It took him about 90 sittings and he still wasn t satisfied with the work he did of her,
so he took a
Midwifes Apprentice
Every book has a message to get across. Some are more obvious than others but no
matter what it is an important lesson about life. In the book The Midwifes
Apprentice by Caren Cushman the protagonist Alyce struggles against the troubles
of her horrid life and unknown past. Alyce is an orphan who is made fun of by the
entire village, leaving her hopeless for a new start. Her life is so bad the village
knows her as Brat and has to sleep in a pile of dung to stay warm at night. She
wants nothing more than to find a niche and to be accepted for who she is in the
village. It all seemed hopeless until one day she becomes the Midwifes apprentice, a
blessing in disguise. However, life wasn t easy either. She still slept in dung and she
had to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story Alyce finds that she is not as stupid and worthless than the
village says she is. However Alyce seeks to only be a part of the village. Alyce is
mocked and bullied by the bullies in the village causing her to lose faith in herself.
Alyce had no one to turn to so it made her problem even worse. However one day
while she was sleeping in cow dung she was approached by the village midwife
and was taken in. An important part in the book is when she has to deliver the
calves and Will walks her through it. Alyce also proves herself worthy after
delivering a baby when she returns from the inn. She has figured out that the
Alyce realizes that she is capable of doing great things and should be heard by the
people of the village. The desire to fit inn is ever present in our every day lives and
can drive us to do crazy things to earn others respect. But in reality trying to fit in
with the cool kids is futile. It s futile because you are the one that makes them cool,
if they are not thought of as cool by you than there is no desire to prove
Multimedia Big Data Analysis Framework For Semantic...
%chapter{Conclusions and Future Work} chapter{CONCLUSIONS AND FUTURE
WORK} label{chapter:Conclusions} section{Conclusions} In this dissertation a
multimedia big data analysis framework for semantic information management and
retrieval is presented. It contains three coherent components, namely multimedia
semantic representation, multimedia concept classification and summarization, and
multimedia temporal semantics analysis and ensemble learning. These three
components are seamlessly integrated and act as a coherent entity to provide
essential functionalities in the proposed information management and retrieval
framework. More specifically: egin{itemize} item A novel correlation based feature
analysis method is presented to derive HCFGs for multimedia semantic retrieval on
mobile devices. The proposed framework explores the mutual information from
multiple modalities by performing correlation analysis for each feature pair and
separating the original feature set into different HCFGs by using the affinity
propagation algorithm at the feature level. Then, a novel fusion scheme is proposed
to fuse the testing scores from selected HCFGs to obtain optimal performance.
Finally, an iPad application is developed based on our proposed system with a user
feedback processing system to refine the retrieval results. item A hierarchical disaster
image classification scheme based on textual and visual information fusion is
proposed for enhancing disaster situation reports with
Care, An Aspect Of Life And Existence Of Our Own
Existence
According to Heidegger, there is an aspect of what he refers to as care in Dasein.
Care is what makes us concerned with things in the world in which we interact with,
as well as the care of interacting with them. It is something that is fundamental to our
being in the word because its foundation it is overall something that underlines all of
Dasein. Care is what causes it to be apprehensive about our own existence. More
specifically, care is what creates the concern for life and existence of everyday things,
and what is behind those things that we interact with. Without care, we would simply
experience the world passively without any knowing of anything around us. People
would go about their days not worrying about their lives and the deeper meanings
behind their existence.
Care is also something that is correlated with Heidegger s idea that we, beings, are
constantly trying to get towards being. We are trying to get towards our original
selves, because that it what we used to be. We were born with knowing of the
nature of being, but we lost knowledge of it and we are constantly trying to gain it
back. Heidegger claimed that it is care that is responsible for the reason that we are
constantly trying to gain the knowledge that we have lost, because it is something
that we care deeply about. Care is additionally responsible for taking action on the
want by pursuing it. For instance, reading philosophy is an action motivated by care
because one of its purposes is

ABSTRACT
Due to their exceptional mechanical properties, thermal conductivity and electrically
insulating property, boron nitride nanotubes and nanosheets have promising
applications in the field of engineering and biomedical sciences. Accurate modeling of
failure or fracture in a nanomaterials inherently involves coupling of atomic domains
of crack, voids as well as deformation mechanism originating from grain boundaries.
This review highlights the recent progress made in the atomistic modeling of boron
nitride nanofillers. Continuous improvements in computational power and parallel
processing have made it possible to study structural properties of these nanofillers in
atomistic state. These atomistic simulations are emerging as viable alternatives to
time consuming and costly experimental means.
Keywords: Boron nitride; nanofillers; finite element; density functional theory;
molecular dynamics; Tersoff potential; hybrid nanostructures
1.0Introduction
Boron nitride (BN) is a lab grown binary compound consisting of equal number of
boron (B) and nitrogen (N) atoms. BN crystallizes either as a hexagonal layered
structure or as a tetrahedral linked structure, similar to that of graphite and diamond

Benny, the War in Europe, and Myerson s
Daughter Bella
When Benny was sent overseas in the autumn of 1941 his father, Mr. Garber,
thought that if he had to give up one son to the army, it might as well be Benny
who was a quiet boy, and who wouldn t push where he shouldn t; and Mrs. Garber
thought: my Benny, he ll take care, he ll watch out; and Benny s brother Abe
thought when he comes back, I ll have a garage of my own, you bet, and I ll be able
to give him a job. Benny wrote every week, and every week the Garbers sent him
parcels full of good things that a Jewish boy should always have, like salami and
pickled herring and shtrudel. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had a glass eye and when a player hesitated on a bet, he would take it out and
polish it, a gesture that never failed to intimidate. His daughВ ter, Bella, worked
behind the counter. She had a club foot and mousy hair and some more hair on her
face, and although she was only twenty six, it was generally supposed that she
would end up an old maid. Anyway she was the one the first one who noticed that
the war in Europe had changed Benny. And, as a matter of fact, the very first time he
came into the store after his homecoming she said to him: What s wrong, Benny ?
Are you afraid?
I m all right, he said.
Benny was a quiet boy. He was short and skinny with a long narrow face, a pulpy
mouth that was somewhat crooked, and soft black eyes. He had big, conspicuous
hands, Thich he preferred to keep out of sight in his pockets. In fact, he seemed to
want to keep out of sight altogether and whenever
possible, he stood
behind a chair or in a
light so that
people wouldn t notice him and, noticing

away. When he had failed the ninth grade at Baron Byng High School, his class
master, a Mr. Perkins, had sent him home with a note saying: Benjamin is not a
student, but he has all the makings of a good citizen. He is honest and atВ tentive in

Gypsy Rose Lee Research Paper
Gypsy Rose Lee will always be remembered through the musical hit Gypsy,
composed by Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne. The most important character
which carries the musical all the way to the end is Gypsy s mother Mama Rose.
The musical has come back to Broadway many times in different forms Today s
most recent version of Gypsy is the 2008 musical featuring Patti Lu Pone as Mama
Rose. Patti blows most of the past performers out of the water. But Ethel Merman
will always be remembered as the original Mama Rose. Ethel Merman portrays
Mama Rose as a tough and energetic mother who wants nothing more for her
daughters than fame on the big stage. My second favorite is Bette Midler s
performance in 1993, who has such a strong stage presence

Children from middle class families on average perform better than children from working class families and the gap between middle and working class educational achievement gets bigger as children get older. Labeling theory is also to deterministic; it says that once you re negatively labeled that s it, you ll fail this isn t always the case. Some sociologist may argue that even though working class students are often labeled and streamed into low achieving section, they are far from discouraging students, it often makes students more likely to want to work hard to prove their teachers wrong. This was proved in research in which black young girls were streamed into lower ability classes, and were then determined to do better than they would have if they were labeled as high achievers. Negative labelling and putting students into different streams or bands can cause some pupils to rebel against school values. As a response to negative labelling and frustration with low status, pupils may form antmaxine hingstoni school subcultures or vice versa and create a pro school subculture. There are four main creeds, they are the Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes, and finally the Zealots. The Pharisees were one of three primary sects of Judaism in the first century AD. They had control of the temple and the High Priesthood. They were allied to some degree with the Sadducees but they were at odds with the Essenes who viewed the High Priesthood of the time as illegitimate. Despite the fact, the Pharisees were famous and esteemed, they didn t have power. The interpreters decided that the distance was 2000 cubits which is about 2/3 of a mile. This was known as a Sabbath s day journey. Where did they get that number? When the Hebrews carried the Ark of the Covenant in the wilderness, God commanded them to walk 2000 cubits behind the ark. They decided that was God s way of telling them how far one could walk on the Sabbath. (Reed, Who Were the Religious Leaders of Jesus s

It provides the basis for understanding the effects of power on the heads of state, and it furnishes insight into one of the main themes in the novel. In this novel, power affects the characters, the events, and the outcome of the book. • 10. Mark Twain- American Author Some of the most riveting books in not just American literature but in all of history, was written by this famous author. Twain, an American writer, is one of the major authors of American fiction. Also, he is considered the greatest humorist in American literature (Alan Gribben, np). Mark Twain was influenced by the society s conditions he lived in, hence the incorporation of much of it in his writing. Growing up in the 1870s, Twain s society was much different than growing up now. He grew up during the outbreak of the civil war and he lived during the time of major cynical political corruption that began in the late 1860s all the way to 1900. He was also raised during a time where slave holding was acceptable, and encouraged. Under his father s influence, he was told that slavery was justified through biblical principles. The majority of people in Hannibal, where Twain grew up, thought this and was the reason why everyone was proslavery. The local pulpit taught us that God approved it, that it was a holy thing and that the doubter need only look in the Bible if he wished to settle his mind and then the texts were read aloud to us to make the matter sure; if the slaves themselves had an aversion to slavery, they were wise and said nothing... (Twain 212 ) This quote portrayed how the people Twain grew up with encouraged slavery because it was accepted by God. However, even though Twain grew up in this condition he was never a supporter of slavery or racism. This point

The epics Gilgamesh, Beowulf, and The Mahabharata, share similar characteristics in terms of their strength, values, and journeys. In each of the epics that will be discussed, there is the occurrence of fighting for honor and to have a legacy. The epic heroes follow many of the guidelines that Joseph Campbellhas written in his book Herowith a Thousand Faces. Joseph Campbell believed that the stages of a hero were to have a call to adventure, he is introduced in his ordinary world, he is hesitant and may not want to fulfill his mission, the person is encouraged by someone old and wise, the person is committed to their journey, there are tests and people to help the hero, the hero faces his last, challenging quest, he potentially faces death, the hero survives his journey and is rewarded in some way, he has a journey back to his home and could face more danger, the hero is transformed by his experience, and the hero brings back treasures. Gilgamesh shows the characteristics of hero according to Joseph Campbell because he faces many challenging quests in particular his most dangerous is going to the king and queen of (idk) (where) to find the secret of immortality, Gilgamesh survives his journey back from (where), Gilgamesh is transformed because he becomes less shellfish, on the journey home he could have possibly been in danger because of the deadly

Whether Language is Instinctive or Learned Essay Whether Language is Instinctive or Learned Over the course of time the topic of language has been a catalyst for many discussions and debates as to if it is learned throughout one s life, or is it a hard copy instinct the one is born with. Many scientists and writers in the humanities field have their own opinions as to what they believe about language and its plight in human society. One writer challenges many of our educators and scholars today by expressing his thoughts on the instinct to understand, learn, and speak language. Rather, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pinker goes on to comment that a young child s knowledge of language and grammar is more refined than any artificial language system used by any advanced technology computer aided programs. Pinker s views that he establishes about language are in accordance with other notable figures in the humanities field. A man by the name of Noam Chomsky has views that are representative of the point Pinker is trying to convey: language is a biological makeup of the brain. As a professor of linguistics at MIT, Chomsky imparted sound arguments as to the nature of language. Chomsky has suggested the fact that every sentence that a human speaks or comprehends is an original combination of words that has not been voiced before. Therefore, language is not a learned trait that has an extensive gamut of expressions, but rather the brain must contain a hard drive that can fabricate an unlimited set of sentences from a limited amount of words. He also strongly feels that children are inherently equipped with the ability to cull the syntactic patterns of speech from their parents. We can see this when a young infant begins to babble at the youngest of ages. This furthermore qualifies and represents Pinker s views on the idea that language is instinctive. On the other side of the coin, there are those educated people that have different views and opinions about language than Pinker

This results in children lacking the ability to feel safe, loved, wanted and apart of another human being. This break in attachment sometimes leaves the child reeling lost and anger with those providing for them. The feeling of attachment, or lack of attachment, can determine and affect the future outcomes of children as they grow in to adults. Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) as stated is the American Psychiatric Association: Diagnosis and Statistical Manual of mental disorders edition 5 states that there are two types: inhibited and disinhibited type of attachment (Association, 2000). Inhibited type are children who have multiple experiences with primary caregivers who don t provide emotional support and comfort when needed. These children are always rejected, in their opinion, and avoid any social contact with others. These types of children withdrawal form their primary caregivers, avoid being comforted and self soothe. Social settings can be awkward for these inhibited type of children and they respond with aggression and vigilance (Wimmer, 2009). Children who have the disinhibited type have many experiences with primary caregivers who are not responsive to their

The Importance Of Human Rights In Estonia Human right are the specific rights that are inherently instilled to all human beings regardless of their nationality, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, language or any of feature that other may try to segment/discriminate them into a defined category. The united nations holds these rights to the utmost extent and realizes there are many countries where these rights are being infringed upon. There are international human rightslaws that try to protect the people and it has been reiterated numerous times. However there is still much needed to be done to improve the status and standard of living of the people that do not have the opportunity to hold all of these rights. This paper will focus on my delegation country which is Estonia and we will explore human rights through perspective and their stance on this subject. We will also explore the popular opinions of the people of Estonia and how they value and interpret human rights. Estonia acknowledges human rights and are generally respected by the government. However, there are concerns such as the police s use of force, child abuse, and detention conditions. In terms of quantity, as of 2010, there have been 23 judgment cases brought against Estonia and in 19 cases there was at least one violation relating to human rights. A major human rights problem in Estonia is the is large population of Children that are Statelessness. When Estonia gained independence in 1991, the government adopted strict citizenship
  • 21. The Mood Disorder And Anxiety Disorder Throughout our culture we often see people who do not fall under regular norms. These people can sometimes be defined as abnormal or unusual. Sometimes these abnormal behaviors can be caused by psychological issues in the mind, rather than extrinsic forces. These issues are not always easy to detect, but can range from things as simple as stress and anxiety to disorders such as dissociative disorder. A huge category of disorders is called the mood disorder. This paper will delve in to the mood disorder, particularly bipolar disorder, how it is diagnosed, how it develops, and what it is like to have this disorder. Moods are a common part of everyday life. They fluctuate every second of the day. It is normal to be happy, depressed, content, or even excited depending on the events that happen in your day, and how you perceive these events. A mood disorder is recognized when moods become impairing and hard to cope with (Parker et al, 2012, p.419). People have extreme swings from extreme happiness to sadness. These moods cannot be controlled, causing them to react inappropriately to events that are happening in their lives. Mood disorders can cause a person to be unstable in certain aspects of their lives, causing a disruption in a person s daily activities. One of the major disorders that emerge from a mood disorder is bipolar disorder. Basically anyone can develop this disorder. No matter what gender, age, race, or culture a person has an equal chance of acquiring bipolar

Nietzsche On The Genealogy Of Morality Friedrich Nietzsche, an extremely controversial thinker of his time, was an outspoken critic of German nationalism, anti Semitism, and religious dogmatism (Kellner). Indubitably, Nietzsche has had a great impact on the improvement of twentieth century social thought. Key ideas from Nietzsche are included in the following: The Gay Science, On the Genealogy of Morality and Beyond Good and Evil. In the Gay Science, Nietzsche presents the famous image of the madman declaring Godis dead... and we have killed him . Much of Nietzsche s work problematizes Christianity and urges humanity to rethink the basis of morality. The artful self stylization that may be implied by this is also suggested, and how to live without religious certainty. After the loss of religionas a guide and path to follow in his time, Nietzsche acknowledged the need for direction and understood that this could be possible by creating certain values for society to accept and follow.... Referring to the modern culture as barbaric (Nietzsche, 1887), he suggested that a higher form of culture could be obtained through free spirited individuality and the process of self overcoming. Nietzsche proposed that we are the creature and creator of ourselves. In order to attain this higher form of culture and individuality, the creature with brutality instincts within us must be conquered. Seismic Profile Essay Use of Seismics for Lithology Characterization Aditya Chakravarty Abstract This paper studies the application of Rock Physics Models by using Seismic and Well log data to characterize the reservoir sedimentological parameters (viz. Porosity, sorting, cement content and fluid saturation). When properly constrained by local subsurface environment, rock physics models can be used to predict the reservoir quality away from wells. Various researchers have applied a combination of theoretical and heuristic models to generate diagnostic Rock Physics templates (RPT s). These RPT s show the trend of Seismic attributes (Acoustic impedance, VP/VS ratio, Elastic Moduli and) of rocks with changing geological parameters like cementing, sorting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These models premise that the inclusions are ellipsoidal or penny shaped. Although the Inclusion Models have significantly furthered our understanding of the effects of compliant inclusions in rocks, the simplistic assumption of the pore shapes makes it difficult to compare them to actual pore geometries. Displacement Discontinuity models represent the elastic response of rocks with oriented fractures under low frequency (e.g. Schoenberg and Douma, 1988; Sayers and Kachanov, 1995; Schoenberg and Sayers 1995). These models assume fractures to be infinitesimally thin displacement breaks which are defined by their normal and shear compliances. This represents the additional compliance of the rock in comparison to the matrix, due to the presence of fractures. Their usage necessitates the knowledge of fracture compliances and over simplifies the complex nature of fractures as mere planes of discontinuity. Computational Models (e.g. Knackstedt et al., 2009) represent the actual geometry of the porous dry frame through rigorous imaging using Computed Tomography (CT) scanning. The mechanical response of the rock is also computed, using Finite Element Modelling (FEM) and Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) schemes. The obvious merit of such models is the realistic representation of the geometry and elastic moduli. A high computational capability requirement and expensive equipment for pore scale imaging are the factors that limit their usage. Contact Models represent

Gamboh 2016 Film is my passion. I thoroughly enjoy watching and analyzing movies finding the pros and cons. In film there are many different pieces that have to go together in order to make a movie work including: cinematography, the actual image and how it is displayed; sound, the score, sound effects and overall how clear it is to understand what actors are saying; the editing, how all the individual clips are put together; and dialogue and story, what the actors are saying and what the movie is about. A bad movie probably has done most of these poorly. A good movie may be lacking in one of these departments. A great movie has all bases covered, however, there are exceptions on this depending on personal preference. Some movies might end up being controversial. Some may love it. Same may hate it. Computers were still only used by hobbyists but they becoming easier to use by the month. The two biggest event for the personal computers would happen in the last five years of the decade. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniac would start Apple Computers and create the first computer that anyone could use, the Apple II. In 1978 the college dropout student Bill Gates would create the company which in only thirty years would become the company to run over ninety percent of all computers in the world, Microsoft. When Brazil became independent in 1822 from portugal, the slave trade was perceived as a dominant activity in the country s economy because it involved so much formation and investments. Slavery played a significant role in the structure of Brazil considering that the system of involuntary labor was the biggest and most extended of all the slave societies in the Atlantic world. This molded Brazilian ways of life including jobs, transportation, economic concerns, political factors and culture in many ways. The modernize approach of religion and traditions of the old African culture now converted into an Afro Brazilian culture that still has an impact and exists today which is also still celebrated in Brazil. I believe that without slavery, many of the importance of both sides of society selling slaves and buying slaves would not have shaped humanity in the modern world. Two centuries had seen African and European cultural religious and linguistic habits merging into unique Afro Brazilian social and religious customs, music, and storytelling (Nellis 62). The cultural influence of Afro Brazilians has persistently grew from celebrations like carnaval into a mainstream popular culture. Brazil holds a variety of different ideas, culture and people. Barbara Harrison even labeled Dorothy Sayers s Lord Peter/Harriet Vane books, Strong Poison, Gaudy Night, and Busman s Honeymoon, as deliriously happy ending romances (66). We usually think of crypts as graves or coded messages, similar to the letter in Have His Carcasse. The notion of a crypt, however, contains a deeper psychological meaning. Crypts deal with the ideas of introjection and incorporation. These concepts identify the alternative ways in which the psyche handles trauma. When the psyche introjects a trauma, the trauma melds into the subconscious. If the psyche successfully assimilates the trauma, it unites with the rest of the psyche, much like a cube of ice (the trauma) melting in a glass of water (the psyche). Incorporation occurs when trauma embeds itself into the psyche, but remains separate and, therefore, separable. If we return to the idea of the psyche as a glass of water, incorporation resembles what happens when a Ping Pong ball (the trauma) drops into a glass of water. The ball remains a lump in the psyche. Jacques Derrida wrote about the crypt sealing the loss of the object, but also marking the refusal to mourn . . . I pretend to keep the dead alive, intact, safe (save) inside me, but it is only to refuse, in a necessarily equivocal way, to love the dead as a living part of me, dead save in me, through the process of introjection, as happens in so called normal mourning ( Foreword 17). The tomb stands then as an incorporation of the trauma of death. We physically mark the place of rest as a mirror of our inability to assimilate that trauma

It is widely believed that the more lather a product generates, the better it is at cleaning. This belief, which is promoted through the marketing of products is incorrect, however, having become accustomed to copious amounts of lather in our beauty products, it has become the norm to expect it and to think more highly of products based (sometimes) solely on how much lather they generate. Perhaps our love of lather begins in infancy and childhood when we are enticed to our baths by the presence of lots of white bubbles and spend countless minutes popping and blowing them. Perhaps we take this childlike wonder and love of bubbles into adulthood because we are apt to wonder just how clean or hair or skin is if our shampoo, soap or bod wash did not create lots of foam. Unfortunately, when it comes to backing up these claims, they are hard pressed to actually find evidence to back this up. Sexual content will be searched within the parameters of sitcoms. This paper will be specifically focusing on sexual content when it is portrayed in a comedy. Comedies are unique from dramas because they portray things in a funny light. They can still deal with serious topics, but they go about things in a different manner. Topics are played for a comedic effect, and when they revolve around things that are sexual in nature, people are worried that they are encouraging that specifically. The research will be exploring whether the subject of these sexual jokes are a man or a woman. There are comedic sexual references to both males and females being made by both males and females. Research Sexual content on television needs to have a definition. It cannot merely be defined according to one s own comfort and thinking in regards to sex. This is a common definition that is held to by many people, but some view sex as having more to do with culture. Buckingham, Willett, Bragg and Russell (2010) argue that sex might have more to do with cultural values and

On the other hand, hexane has only dispersion forces which would mean it would have had a higher change in temperature, but it has a molecular weight of 86.18 g /mol which would make it harder to break its bonds during evaporation which would explain why the change in temperature isn t as high as expected. Firgure 4 illustrated the evaporation rates of acetone and water. Here a huge difference in evaporation rates can be seen. Despite its low molecular mass, the very strong hydrogen bonds in water made it much harder to evaporate compared to the dispersions forces in acetone which are weak. Which means, as figure 4 shows, water had a much lower change in temperature than acetone, meaning the water did not evaporate as quickly as the acetone because the hydrogen bonds of water kept it from doing so at the rate of acetone. Figure 5 shows the comparison of the four alcohols used in the experiment according to their change in temperature during evaporation and their respective molecular weights. For all of the alcohols the pattern of low molecular weight and high temperature changes could be seen, this is because it is easier to break the bonds of a substance thus evaporating it if it has a low molecular weight and not a high one. The alkanes pentane and hexane both had dispersion forces, which are weak intermolecular forces and explains why they

The glory of power and victory is feeling conquering any death. Napoleon Bonaparte, French Emperor is one who acknowledged in the power of glory. Even as a young boy Bonaparte was fascinated in war and battle tactics, his father was a lawyer who taught him the capacity of words. Napoleon Bonaparte was destined to be a leader, his determination and lust to win, gave him the position of army general and from there he ascended to emperor. His drive for the militaryforce reshaped the world. Napoleon Bonaparte ruled through untelligence and reputation is an effective leader because of his military control and strategic skills, as well as the use of his education to manipulate and conquer much of Europe. Through manipulation and making decisions to benefit to the majority of the population Napoleon Bonaparte achieved power, Bonaparte was an intelligent man and knew how to persuade people to believe and trust in him. He would do this through his speeches, where he would inspire many with such loyalty and worship ( Dugdale 9). Bonaparte attains the trust of his citizens and much of Europe by creating the deceptive idea of propaganda which was regular in his civilians life; such as his claim of equality for all ( Obstifeld 125). Napoleon also tried to provide a life that was favorable to his citizens which gained him many followers

Morals, religion, beliefs, tradition, expectation, controversy, and misuse are some things that may come to mind when the term family values is mentioned. The true definition and meaning of family values can most likely never be directly pinpointed, but it is always going to be a known fact that familyvalues are always going to have different meanings to different people. It is the common misunderstanding that family values are just simply the things that shape a growing persons values and morals. When it comes time to make an important decision, ones personal courage and self discipline are put to the test and what has been instilled in them from the beginning of their lives is the determining factor of how the situation will turn out. There are many things that can go wrong in the process of passing family values on from generation to generation. If certain values are instilled in a particular family since the dawn of its existence, and those values are not necessarily the best ones, it is more than likely going to be considered a perfectly acceptable value and taught to members of that family to come. When negative family values are taught, it is common that when someone applies those same values to real world situations, they will encounter conflict among people and situations that they come across. This is common with families that are prejudice, racist, sheltered, or just plain ignorant to modern cultural standards. It is a very sad thing when incorrect or socially unacceptable values are taught to the youth in a family. For the reason that, to a young and impressionable mind what is taught to them is the only thing that they know and it is always considered right. It is not the youth s fault, or the parents fault for that matter, it is just simply a matter of how a particular family or group of people adapt and conform to contemporary socially acceptable customs. Sometimes, the teaching of family values is diverted by
  • 40. Should The Government Regulate The Internet These days the internet has become an essential part to living for almost everyone but one of the controversial topics that people bring up is that whether or not the government should regulate information on the internet. Both sides have valid points which form a reasonable argument. Some people would say that they need to because of the dangers lurking around in the cyber world but the reasons for why the government shouldn t regulate the Internetoutnumber the reasons for why they should. The federal government should not regulate or censor information on the internet because doing so violates the first amendment and citizen s right to privacy, degrades the educational value of the web, prevents the promotion and facilitation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2011, several people started a Don t Filter Me project. They wanted to remove the web filters on the school computers that blocked several educational sites. They filed lawsuits and demanded that they unblock these sites and take away the web filters. Also another group of people petitioned the Supreme Court to strike down the Communications Decency Act in Reno v. ACLU in 1997. As a result, the court granted the highest level of First Amendment protection to the internet. Also in 2004, the Supreme Court announced that it will not hear government s appeal of a ban on the Child Online Protection Act. They thought of this as a violation of the First Amendment (Internet Censorship 1). Once again, it would be common sense to allow someone their first amendment and privacy rights. Without these rights, the people would never be able to truly express their ideas to the public. If the government censored the internet, people would not be able to publish what they wanted to because of the internet regulation. Instead of thinking creatively and coming up with new ideas, people would have to follow regulations. This could be a danger to society because it would hinder the people from succeeding, evolving, and gaining more information. This is why people should be allowed to think freely without the federal government censoring and regulating the internet (Redwin 3). This country started on the foundation and basis of freedom so it should be kept that

Art has flourished the world for thousands of years and it has no intentions on stopping. One of quot;the most important figure s in modern artquot; (Selfridge, 15) is a man by the name of Pablo Picasso. He has taken the world into many places and has enabled us to see many abstract creations through his artwork alone. (Selfridge, 20) Born on October 25, 1881, Picasso was a miracle right from the start. There were complicationswith birth and everyone was surethat he wasn t going to make it, but then Picasso s uncle, Salvador Ruiz, was able to make this tragedy a miracle. He... An art dealer, by the name of Pere Manach, was impressed by the work he had seen of Picasso s and offered him a deal. He would pay him 150 francs every month for all of the work he had completed in that time period. (Selfridge, 85) Although Picasso left back to Spain, he agreed and they made arrangements to make an exchange every month. Picasso received word that a well respected art dealer named Ambroise Vollard wanted to exhibit his work, so Picasso returned to Paris for the occasion. (Selfridge, 88) The exhibit turned out to be very successful, and fifteen pieces of Picasso s was purchased before the exhibit was opened. Picasso returned to Spain and continued his work there. A good friend of his named Casagemos committed suicide, which made Picasso very depressed. He showed his emotions through his work by painting mostly in shades of blue. This is known as his blue period, where all his subjects dealt with poverty, depression, and human struggle. (Westernbaker, 162) In 1905, Picasso met a woman named Gertrude Stein and he immediately wanted to use her in his portraits. It took him about 90 sittings and he still wasn t satisfied with the work he did of her, so he took a

Multimedia Big Data Analysis Framework For Semantic... %chapter{Conclusions and Future Work} chapter{CONCLUSIONS AND FUTURE WORK} label{chapter:Conclusions} section{Conclusions} In this dissertation a multimedia big data analysis framework for semantic information management and retrieval is presented. It contains three coherent components, namely multimedia semantic representation, multimedia concept classification and summarization, and multimedia temporal semantics analysis and ensemble learning. These three components are seamlessly integrated and act as a coherent entity to provide essential functionalities in the proposed information management and retrieval framework. More specifically: egin{itemize} item A novel correlation based feature analysis method is presented to derive HCFGs for multimedia semantic retrieval on mobile devices. The proposed framework explores the mutual information from multiple modalities by performing correlation analysis for each feature pair and separating the original feature set into different HCFGs by using the affinity propagation algorithm at the feature level. Then, a novel fusion scheme is proposed to fuse the testing scores from selected HCFGs to obtain optimal performance. Finally, an iPad application is developed based on our proposed system with a user feedback processing system to refine the retrieval results. item A hierarchical disaster image classification scheme based on textual and visual information fusion is proposed for enhancing disaster situation reports with
  • 44. Care, An Aspect Of Life And Existence Of Our Own Existence According to Heidegger, there is an aspect of what he refers to as care in Dasein. Care is what makes us concerned with things in the world in which we interact with, as well as the care of interacting with them. It is something that is fundamental to our being in the word because its foundation it is overall something that underlines all of Dasein. Care is what causes it to be apprehensive about our own existence. More specifically, care is what creates the concern for life and existence of everyday things, and what is behind those things that we interact with. Without care, we would simply experience the world passively without any knowing of anything around us. People would go about their days not worrying about their lives and the deeper meanings behind their existence. Care is also something that is correlated with Heidegger s idea that we, beings, are constantly trying to get towards being. We are trying to get towards our original selves, because that it what we used to be. We were born with knowing of the nature of being, but we lost knowledge of it and we are constantly trying to gain it back. Heidegger claimed that it is care that is responsible for the reason that we are constantly trying to gain the knowledge that we have lost, because it is something that we care deeply about. Care is additionally responsible for taking action on the want by pursuing it. For instance, reading philosophy is an action motivated by care because one of its purposes is

Modeling Of Engineering And Biomedical Sciences Atomistic modeling of BN nanofillers: a review Rajesh Kumar* and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India * Corresponding author: E Mail: rajeshpawar4u@gmail.com, Ph.: +91 1332 284801 ABSTRACT Due to their exceptional mechanical properties, thermal conductivity and electrically insulating property, boron nitride nanotubes and nanosheets have promising applications in the field of engineering and biomedical sciences. Accurate modeling of failure or fracture in a nanomaterials inherently involves coupling of atomic domains of crack, voids as well as deformation mechanism originating from grain boundaries. This review highlights the recent progress made in the atomistic modeling of boron nitride nanofillers. Continuous improvements in computational power and parallel processing have made it possible to study structural properties of these nanofillers in atomistic state. These atomistic simulations are emerging as viable alternatives to time consuming and costly experimental means. Keywords: Boron nitride; nanofillers; finite element; density functional theory; molecular dynamics; Tersoff potential; hybrid nanostructures 1.0Introduction Boron nitride (BN) is a lab grown binary compound consisting of equal number of boron (B) and nitrogen (N) atoms. BN crystallizes either as a hexagonal layered structure or as a tetrahedral linked structure, similar to that of graphite and diamond

The most important character which carries the musical all the way to the end is Gypsy s mother Mama Rose. The musical has come back to Broadway many times in different forms Today s most recent version of Gypsy is the 2008 musical featuring Patti Lu Pone as Mama Rose. Patti blows most of the past performers out of the water. But Ethel Merman will always be remembered as the original Mama Rose. Ethel Merman portrays Mama Rose as a tough and energetic mother who wants nothing more for her daughters than fame on the big stage. My second favorite is Bette Midler s performance in 1993, who has such a strong stage presence
