 The village of Gărâna, in western Romania, is the place where the jazz festival of the
same name has been taking place for more than twenty years. Some 50,000 people flock
each summer there to listen to a line-up of prominent international musicians and the
accommodation options in the area have developed as a result. As it is set in the Semenic
Nature Park, the surrounding landscape offers plenty of options for exploring, either on
foot or by bike, for which trails have been set up. More about this year's edition of the
Gărâna Jazz Festival here.
 Garana is a holiday village called Wolsberg, situated on a hill Munch to 935 m altitude, in
a landscape dominated by the silhouette Semenic, Caras-Severin county, 30 km from
Resita. Specific architecture is distinguished by German mountain village, the village was
once inhabited by a native population of the Czech Sudeten Mountains.
Garana / Wolfsberg is a kind of paradise. PEMI lost, which
left waves in Germany, as the Swabians and Saxons. Found,
found, invented, conquered by those who, inspired, bought
homes PEMI. A haven for politicians, parliamentarians,
eminent doctors, architects, businessmen and other VIPs
who escape from the hellish pressure of everyday realm on
one foot on a bad mouth. A Garden of Eden for artists -
painters, sculptors, poets, musicians - who find peace here,
muse, an ideal place for creation. On the crest of the hill
there is a permanent exhibition of sculpture, carving fruit of
the annual camps.
Garana is a real paradise for
artists, painters, sculptors, poets
or musicians and today it hosts
every year the international open
air Garana Jazz Festival.
