For this assignment, we had to come up with an idea for a new video game and then conduct research.
We came up with the idea to create a game what includes adventure,horror&puzzle.
For primary Research we decided to do a survey asking questions that will help us have an understanding on which the majority of people want, this will help us develop more of an idea on who our target audience is and what they are interested in buying. Making it more likely for our game to be more popular.
We asked them to rank their favourite game genres in order, this will help us have an better understanding on which game genre is the most popular. As you can see the most popular is the role playing games and the least popular is the puzzle genre. We have decided to do an Horror and adveture genre which is the 3rd most popular and the 2nd most but we have also decided to put an hint of puzzle in the game even though it isnt as most popular so we can improve the aspect of the puzzle genre and give it a better reputation also giving a twist to our game.
For this question we asked what platform do they regularly play on. This will help us understand which platform our game will be made for. For example at the moment the PC is the most popular so this is suggesting that the gaming audiences are usually playing games for PC. So this will mean that early 45% of my audience will be interested in an PC game.
The most average amount of money spent on a game is 0-£10, however if we put our price as cheap as that we wont make that much profit so we have decided to go for the 11-20 range.
We are going to base our game In an asylum as It is the most recommended setting for an horror movie. Making it more likely for the audience to buy.
We decided to ask how often do they play on puzzle games and it came back that it isn't as popular as we did expect however we are still including it In our game to make it more original than all the other horror/adventure games making it more interesting and improving thoughts on puzzle games.
For question 6 we asked where are they more likely going to buy Games and they said Online and in retail shops this will help us have an idea on how our game is more likely going to be bought.
Question 7 was one of the most important questions we asked, It covered up most of the things that are included in a game such as graphics, game difficulty, story line etc. Doing this helped us have an better understanding on which part of the game is the most important for example story line had the highest rating so we need to focus more on doing a good story Line to help the audience stay interested in playing the game.
Question 8 we asked how many hours do they play on video games this will help us understand how long the story line might have to be etc.
When we asked what their age is, Our results came back as the majority age of 16-17 and a small percentage of 35-44 years old. This means our game is very likely to be played on by teens/Young adults, This is helping us know what kind of game features are suitable to put in our game.
When we asked our final question which was do you prefer playing multiple player or single player the results came back the same. This meansthe audience might not be that
In secondary research, I have researched all about the things I will need to know about the game,
what games are the most popular, and what features are most important. I created about 8 pages of
work to do with what I needed to do and got a general overdraft of what I need to know.
In the research I have done I have found out about 3 horror games, 3 adventure games, and 3 puzzle games.
I found about about these types of games because the game we’re making is based on adventure,horror&puzzle.
Researching these games tell me what is most popular in the types so we can use features in our game.
I found out the reason that Slender: The arrival is popular because of the sense of danger the game gives you.
The darkness and difficulty make the game more popular because people want a good game.
The game has had an average amount of 10,000,000 Sales over the globe.
I will be using the dark and difficulty features in our game because it will attract more people to purchase it.
I found out that the reason The last of us is popular is because of the story behind the game, the characters and their tasks.
The game had an average amount of 5.05 Million sales.
These features I will be using in our game to make it popular and for people to buy it.
I found out that the reason that portal 2 is popular is because of its weaponry, characters, danger, and the puzzles it creates.
The game had an average amount of 4Million copies around the globe so far.

While researching different types of games, I took a look at the reviews given about the game.
The reviews had a mix of good and bad points about horror, adventure and puzzle.
Some of the features I said we will be using will have some slight alterations.
Our idea at the beginning was to create a game on adventure, horror and puzzle. Throughout the research we found out that adventure and horror are the most popular, and puzzle not as popular. To not be too original, we decided to combine the 3 together to be different.
The game will hopefully interest people with its odd combination, but we feel its going to be very successful.
