1. FADE IN:
EXT. CRUMBLING TEMPLE – DAY
An old man, ALNILAM MARYSO, sits in a meditative state, overlooking a vast
jungle in an alien planet. Behind the man is a younger male, JOBIS KAELO, slowly
approaching his location.
Whilst all is still silent, the student finally stands beside the sitting man and
proceeds to sit down in a similar fashion.
As the two sit there, the younger male, seemingly bored, takes a deep breath and
lets out a sigh. The older man takes notice of his sigh and decides to engage in a
conversation with the younger male.
ALNILAM MARYSO
I sense you are troubled. Tell me, what
bothers you?
JOBIS KAELO
It has been days since my last training,
and in that time you’ve done nothing but
sit here.
The young apprentice turns to face the older man before continuing his rant.
JOBIS KAELO
You and I both know that he is approaching.
I need more training! I need to defeat him!
The old man takes some time to think about what has just been said by his
apprentice, and before giving his opinion he chuckles.
ALNILAM MARYSO
You do not understand, you can not
defeat your enemy with brute
strength alone. He is much stronger
and skilful than you or I, and for that
reason we must learn to clear our minds.
So that when the time comes, our vision is
clear. And then, you may defeat him.
As he finishes off his speech, the man notices that his apprentice is no longer at
his side and has begun to walk away.
ALNILAM MARYSO
Where are you going?
The student halts in his path and turns to answer.
2. JOBIS KAELO
This is pointless! Your old teachings
are of no use to us now! If we continue
to waste time, then we will surely lose
this fight.
He turns around to continue to walk away, but before he does he says one last
thing.
JOBIS KAELO
So if you refuse to train me, then I have no
need for your teachings, old man.
He continues to walk away as the older man responds to his apprentice.
ALNILAM MARYSO
Your rage and anger blinds you and
takes you down a dangerous path.
Perhaps you are better off without
guidance.
The old man goes back to his meditative state, overlooking the vast jungle
beneath the temple. As he does so, he sighs and mutters to himself.
ALNILAM MARYSO
Or perhaps there is no hope.
