1. We built a hammerhead shark for the robot project. The hammerhead shark consisted of
the shark, the sea, a fish, and a surfer. We used a box and some blue tissue paper to symbolize
the sea bottom. We cut out an orange fish and a purple surfboard. We made the surfer out of pipe
cleaners. We made the shark out of a cup and bottle with some blue paper and cardboard for
some shape. When putting the shark together, we used the hot glue gun to glue the paper to the
bottle and the cup. We used some cardboard to shape the face.
The robotics that we used was the 360 engine and sound effects. We used the 360 engine
and attached a string to it and put the other end of the string to the shark. When the motor was
turned on, the shark would “swim” through the ocean sea towards the surfer and the fish. As the
shark got closer and closer, the jaws sound effects got more intense. When performing the
shark’s movements for the camera, the hammerhead moved off the path a little bit, but it went
back on the path and slowly moved closer to the surfer and the fish as the jaws sound effects
played.
I learned how to create many things using the hummingbird robot. I learned how to
connect wires to create lights, movements, sounds, and sensors. Luke and I critically thought of
what would make the shark seem real and how to use the hummingbird to allow the shark to
have effects. We thought of what shape to give the shark and we worked together to make it all
happen.
